For a Marriot the location is excellent and the staff amazing but there are some improvements to be made. The hotel is in an excellent location, everything is walking distance within central Brussels! Our view especially overlooking the Bourse was wonderful. The room is nice but quite cosy when a rollaway bed is added for our child. Shower strength is very good although the plugs are slow draining in the shower and wash basin.
Breakfast buffet is fine - I would say being lactose intolerant that it could be improved with full allergen labelling of all food which is lacking and there is no vegan butter which is disappointing.
The reason for dropping the two stars besides the allergen food labelling is the bedding. The first night we went to bed late and to our dismay the topper on the bed felt like sleeping on horse hair - scratchy and fibrous and horrible to sleep on. Incredibly we were told this is standard bedding for the Marriott - its horrifically uncomfortable and then when I peeled back the sheet, found it was stained which was nasty. We were told there was no alternative hypoallergenic topper available as they were all booked out however the next evening we came back to the hotel and found the topper was changed to hypoallergenic feather one and it was like sleeping on a completely different bed. An apology card and some hors d’oeuvres were in the room too which was appreciated.
