Outdoor Living in Absolute Privacy Steps from the Water's Edge

Enjoy the luxury of outdoor living in serenity and seclusion, in this amazing compound boasting multiple living areas for multiple activities.

Unique. In a category of it's own; Casa Velas is nestled on a 7.5 acre property, with over 200 meters (675 linear feet) of beach frontage, at the most private sector of Playa Grande’s four mile long beach, within Las Baulas National Marine Park. This spacious compound is just steps from the water’s edge and offers views of the beach and spectacular sunsets from virtually every vantage point.

The very large swimming pool (where you can actually swim laps and children can actually play), is only steps from the beach and conveniently located between the Tiki bar, the main house and the guest house - all surrounded by beautiful gardens planted with palm trees, fruit trees and flowers that attract monkeys, exotic birds , iguanas and many other sorts of wildlife from the park.

With three master suites and two regular bedrooms ( with adjacent bathrooms, air conditioning and TV), a fully equipped ocean view kitchen, three dinning areas and indoor and outdoor living areas, Casa Velas is the ideal vacation home for groups of one or more families.

The Villa is designed in a way that integrates the different activity areas yet allowing for space and privacy among its guests.

If you plan your trip between October and March you will have the privilege of witnessing the majestic Leatherback Turtles nesting , sometimes right in front of the main house.

Garden/pool maintenance and 24 hour security are provided. Housekeeping is provided at your request. Our amazing private chef is also available at your request - all contributing to give you the experience of fun, play , relaxation and pampering that defines Costa Rican living.

A five minute walk will take you to the estuary that separates pristine Playa Grande from Tamarindo - where you will find an abundance of restaurants , shops and nightlife. A panga will take you across for a small fee.

Endroit paradisiaque! La piscine est grande, les villas sont propres avec les commodités nécessaires. Belles espaces de détentes, la plage est tout simplement parfaite ! Pas de laveuse/sécheuse mais vous pouvez payer pour le service. Concierge à l'écoute et rapide. Sher nous a organisé des activités pour la semaine et nous a conseiller sur des activités à faire à proximité. Service parfait! Nous y retournerons assurément.

Place is nice. If you are 3 couples staying the main house it will be fine. With more people, needing to occupy the guesthouse, be advised that it is not up to the same standard and in need of a reno. The view of the beach is limited unless you are on the elevated balcony of the guesthouse. The Staff were helpful but they were walking on eggshells.
Access to the "guesthouse" is over grass and not well illuminated at night.

This house is awesome and truly feels like it's in the jungle on the beach! We stayed for 4 days for a group of 10 and we all felt very comfortable. One room has two queens and two twins to accommodate a much larger group or if you brought kids. If you surf, it couldn't be better. The house is directly on the beach a few steps from the water and a short walk to Tamarindo. It also has a beautiful huge pool that is cleaned every day by on-site help. We highly recommend to use their chef Ana for meals and pre-order all of your groceries for delivery by her. Local neighborhood restaurants are within walking distance also. All bedrooms have AC plus nice bathrooms. The roads coming in our gravel or dirt, but give the house a real tropical remote feel. Working with their property manager Sher was a real treat also. Just great service all around. Couldn't recommend it more!

We had an amazing stay! Sher was wonderful she helped with any little thing. Rodger was friendly and so helpful everyday.We had three teenagers and five adults - with grandparents. All the accommodations were exceptional - we all had our own space and air conditioning in the rooms. Ana cooked for us the first night and it was delicious and very reasonably priced- we should have had more dinners!The outdoor living space was great - lots of space to spread out and very comfortable. The beach was only steps away and had chairs right there.We had the best family visit and would love to return to this very house. Everything was exceptional!

The home was amazing. Highly recommend. Location was fantastic. It is not highly populated which we loved. We did not have a car but managed walking places. There were 11 women staying at the house. We all had room to spread out and had ample seating towels etc. Many women walked to the water taxis to tamarindo daily or the longer 45min walk to playa grande.Bugs and animals were not an issue. We did see many crabs and raccoons. The beach was fantastic. Love love loved the sunsets.We hired cooks and got the groceries delivered. It was excellent food and plenty of it all week.Definitely would recommend!

We loved our stay here! We had a big group of 12 people and the house along with the 2nd casita on the property was perfect for all of us! What makes this house so perfect is the outside area with the amazing pool and being only steps away from the beach. Playa grande is by far the best of the 6 beaches we visited while staying in Costa Rica! Perfect waves for our older kids the farther you go out but also perfect for our younger kids! We took surf lessons right outside our house and my older kids were safe to go to the beach to play whenever they wanted cause we were so close. We loved having AC in the bedrooms and Raquel comes and cleans daily which was very nice! Sher the property manager was available at all times and planned all of our excursions for me as well as a message at the house and a personal chef for 3 of our meals! I loved that the prices were all discussed ahead of time. It was a great for us to stay home for dinner with small children and not worry about preparing or clean up after dinner! Definitely worth it! I loved our stay here and would definitely come back!

steps from the beach, well taken care of and secure. Team onsite and host took excellent care of our family with fresh cooked meals, rentals and any last minute needs. Do Not stay in Tamarindo as it’s a dirty tourist trap, this is a beautiful spot sitting on four miles of uncrowded beach. We can hardly wait to come back, thanks!

Casa Velas is a beautiful home with direct access to the lovely Playa Grande. It is the best of both worlds, a beach with very few people and the ability to enjoy the lively beach town of Tamarindo.

Beautiful Beach Location

This review is for the property, which was as advertised. All spaces are thoughtfully furnished, comfortable, and well-maintained. The outside areas are remarkable and beautiful with mere footsteps to a beautiful beach. The owner and her staff were accommodating and supported us when we needed information or assistance (e.g., language translations, transportation, etc.). Our grandkids LOVED the beach and pool. We all loved quality family time in a beautiful place.

Great Getaway

Casa Velas was delightful and the proximity to the pool and beach was perfect for us with young children. They communicated well and you must have Darling cook for you. It made the whole trip relaxing and delicious. Its not the Hilton and bring bug spray, but we all loved it. It was a great way to celebrate a birthday and family.

Can't say enough about Ana's house. The pictures do not do it justice. The pool area and sitting area was where we spent most of our time and it exceeded all expectations. The house itself was perfect for what we needed and my wife and I stayed king size suite in the separate dwelling with the four grandchildren staying below us. We were a party of twelve and had plenty of room. The description of the house states close to the beach, and that is no exaggeration. We were on the beach which was unbelievable to walk, swim and watch the beautiful sunsets. The staff with the place were the nicest people you could meet and were helpful in so many ways. We had three meals prepared at the house and we wish we could have done more. If you are looking for the perfect place on the beach in Costa Rica, Ana's house is a must.

The BEST!

This is the second time we have stayed at Casa Velas and it was our seventh time to Palm Beach Estates on Playa Grande. This newly renovated house/compound is our favorite. It’s right on the beach, has plenty of shade and seating for everyone, and an exceptional, sparkling pool that is large enough to float and play in. The bedrooms are air conditioned and there is a bathroom attached to each of the five bedrooms. No sharing of bathrooms is amazing!We had meals prepared for us every morning and every night except for one. Having this service makes all of the difference: so much more time for relaxing and playing. Having on-site caretakers is fantastic too. Knowing someone is right there if you need them is such a big benefit. Every day they cleaned the kitchen and the pool, and took out the trash. Very helpful!During our time there we got to see racoons, inguanas, howler monkeys, hermit crabs, and giant grasshoppers all right on the property! So many beautiful birds too. Every day was a nature adventure. We can't wait to go back.

A bit of paradise

Beautiful property right on the beach. Generously-sized pool. Lots of room for our family of 10 to spread out. We sat pool-side and watched the parrots and vultures. Huge lizards and a tiny frog came by to visit. Our cook, Darling, prepared delicious meals. Lots of beans and rice and fresh tortillas. Mounds of fresh papayas, pineapples, etc. The waves are perfect! Big enough to be exciting, but safe enough for children and beginning surfers. A fabulous family vacation!

Great assistance from Ana

Unfortunately we were unable to stay at this property due to damages the main house sustained prior to our arrival. Ana was amazing in helping us find another location to stay at. She continued to check in and make sure we were taken care of by a neighboring property. The location of the house is amazing and we were extremely sad we couldn't stay at her property. If we were to return to Costa Rica, this property will be on the top of the list to stay at. Also, the concierge associated with this property was amazing! We booked a day trip ziplining, Cloud Forrest tour, lunch and transportation and a family photo shoot on the beach with an amazing photographer.

Second Stay, Just as Magical!

This was my second stay and 9 years later, it was just as perfect as I remembered. It’s worth every penny and more. Ideal for everything from a big family trip to a romantic getaway, I truly can’t recommend this place highly enough!

The house was perfect for the high graduates. They really enjoyed the pool and beach. Ariel & Veronica were the highlight of our stay. They were always available to answer questions and help when needed. We used Veronica for all our cooking need and boy was it worth it. Outstanding cooking, the food was amazing!! I highly recommend staying at Casa Velas

Great ocean beach location! Semi private.

The ocean beach was beautiful. The beach was steps away from the home. The foliage around the house and shade trees around the home were gorgeous. The home and additional apartment were very spacious. This property could easily accommodate 10 to15 people comfortably. Remember, there are two houses that you have available to use. The home had air conditioning only in the bedrooms! The kitchen, dining room and living room were not air conditioned. Those rooms did have ceiling fans. The shower head in the master bath was clogged. Only 13 water holes out of 40 in the shower head worked! When you turned on the shower it felt like a laser beam was going through you! One of the showers had to be shared with the 6 sand crabs in it! ALL the furniture in the home NEEDED TO BE REPLACED! Our entire family had back pain at the end of our stay. The beds were extremely bad and the living room furniture cushions were shot. It was a struggle just to get off the couch! The nearest town where you could find an American grocery store was about 40 minutes away. The many ruts in the road were everywhere and they were deep! It was a miserable experience driving on the roads. The only highway we had access to was a single lane highway with a double yellow line down the entire highway. There were no shoulders on the side of the road. In fact, many of the ditches on the side of the road were 3-4 feet deep trenches. We still enjoyed our time there, but would not go back.
