Beautiful rural mountain location
Fabio was a great host making us feel so welcome bringing us fresh cherries and generally making sure we had all we needed. Accommodation and pool were great, not a heated a pool but on hot days that’s no issue. Location was perfect for us as it provided privacy, tranquillity and views while also only being a 15 min drive from a shop, train station which put Lucca, Pisa and Braga all within reach. We’d recommend lunch in Braga and dinner in Roggio - Perfecto! Don’t be put off by no air conditioning, because it’s in the hills the bedrooms downstairs are sheltered from the sun so are lovely and cool at night which was such a treat after a hot day. Thanks Fabio for a wonderful holiday

Beautiful setting, lovely villa, clean and comfortable
This is one of the most beautiful places we have stayed. We stayed for 12 days from end of May to early June. The villa is everything described and more. It was so wonderful waking up to the sound of the birds every morning and sitting on the patio in the evening watching the sun set over the mountains. The pool and gardens are kept immaculate by Fabio and Elisa who work very hard for their guests, and will go above and beyond to make your stay in this delightful converted barn as special as possible. The village of Camporgiano is lovely with a charming little wine bar serving free bar snacks/nibbles in the evening! We would recommend eating at the Lo Scalome, Panigacceria restaurant, delicious. Only open at weekends. Also, the Agriturismo in Roggio serves authentic Italian food and lots of it, so go hungry. The local people are very friendly and many speak some English. If you love wildlife this is the place for you. We saw wild Boar, Golden Eagles, Deer, lots of Wall Lizards, a Giant Moth, Fireflies....Scorpions and Snakes, don't worry both of which are harmless. Fabio and Elisa also grow an extensive fruit and vegetable garden that you can eat from. Unfortunately, nothing was ready when we were there. There is quite a steep narrow track leading to Al Melo, but you very soon get used to it. We visited Lucca by train, this was so easy and cheap. The train station is directly opposite the walls of Lucca. We also caught the train to Cinque Terre, which was also pretty straightforward. Make sure you check the times of the return train, as we missed the last one and had to take a taxi from la Spetzia. Not cheap.

Amazing place
We had a really lovely week at Al Melo. We flew in to Pisa and drove up to the house. With a stop in Gallicano to the super market, the journey from the airport is about 1hr45, but what a drive!! The scenery and views all the way up the valley are spectacular. The road up from Camporgiano is hilly and twisty, but it is so worth it. You arrive in Puglianella main square, where Fabio we'll meet you and take you down to the house. The track down is very narrow and steep, so don't hire anything bigger than a VW Golf for a car. Suggest a diesel for all the mountain roads. The house is very clean and well maintained, and the photos don't do it justice. it is very hard to photograph the view and space around the house. It is just glorious. So private and absolute silence. The house has everything you would need to self cater, kitchen well stocked, washing machine, iron, dishwasher etc. Nothing is missing or broken. We used the local supermarket at Camporgiano (10min drive down the hill) for groceries, and is very well stocked. The bedrooms downstairs are a great size, and stay nice and cool in the summer. You do get the odd scorpion in the house at night, but they are no bigger than 6cm and are very timid and won't hurt you. We visited several places from here - Lucca (get the train from Camporgiano), Fortress of Verrucole (what a place!!) and you must go and eat at Coletti's, just a 10min drive up the mountain to the next village. 3 course dinner for 4 people was 65euros with drinks and coffees. However, this is not typical for Italy, but the homemade food was just so good!! You must go there. Fabio and his family were so nice and welcoming, and live in the village in case you need anything. Fabio pops round every couple of days to clean the pool and deliver fresh fruit and veg if there are some spare from his land. Book it!! You won't be disappointed.

Nice 2 bedroom 2 bathroom villa. Absolutely privat! Beautiful garden with swimming pool and separate space for BBQ. Kitchen is complete. Living room with satellite tv. Exiting last 100 meters to reach the villa, but when you there, you feel the stress leaving your mind! The owners are lovely people and will help you with everything! They gave us fresh tomatoes like you never tasted before and mushrooms from the Forrest! We had a verry relaxed time. A moment to feel you rich! Thanks Fabio and Elena

Secluded quality villa in relaxing Italian mountain countryside with pool and gardens
Superb villa, run by very friendly Italian Family that couldn’t do any more to make you feel welcome, we all had a fantastic time taking in the fresh mountain air surrounded by lush green countryside with the sweet sound of birds singing all day long, great place to unwind, relax, read a couple of books, chill in the pool, float on the air bed, eat some fine foods & wash down with a quality wine, it’s what holiday dreams are made off would recommend Fabio’s Al Melo villa to everyone that likes to chill out and relax, thanks Fabio and Elisa for letting us stay can’t wait till next time see you all soon Geoff, Tracy & Ellie

Idyllic and relaxing home away from home in Tuscany
My first impression of the cottage was "Wow". It's situated in an area that offers excellent views of the mountains of Tuscany. It's located on the outskirts of the village and well away from any passing traffic, so was very quiet. If you want complete relaxation, this would be the place for you. The cottage was presented by the owners immaculately clean. In terms of everyday living, all the necessary equipment was available to us, as well as many creature comforts. The kitchen was well stocked with the usual plates, cutlery and utensils, together with a washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, cookers etc. Fabio (the Owner) also took pride in the outside space. The gardens were well maintained and added to the feeling that we were being well catered for. The opportunities for outdoor living were also available. Plenty of tables, chairs, parasols and loungers meant that a place to relax/eat in the sun or the shade was available. The swimming pool was a blessing when the temperatures reached 30 degrees. The waters were wonderfully refreshing and warm. Fabio was a great host. He was friendly, helpful, who also provided us privacy. He welcomed us with a small hamper of wine and foodstuffs and throughout the week would leave us some of his home grown foodstuffs from his nearby allotments. There is a small town 10 mins away that has train station. The line it's on goes through to Lucca and Pisa. The cottage is therefor a great base to see some of the other attractions that Tuscany has to offer. We rarely visit the same holiday cottage twice (preferring to visit different regions each year). We will make an exception with this cottage. It's certainly worth another visit.
