Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, surrounded by an award-winning Virginia Century Farm of apples, peaches, and cherries lies the Cabin at the Orchard. We have been granting families and students with day trips to experience what farming entails for over 100 years, and now offer a serene and scenic getaway in the middle of the great outdoors.
Bird watchers, be prepared to see over 50 different species in one day, as wildlife can be seen best from Grannyâs Perch. Keep an eye out for anything that may pop in to say hello, such as a rabbit, groundhog, deer, or even the occasional black bear. Here you have the chance to immerse yourself in the world around you. Along with the cabin, Grannyâs Perch offers a view rivaled by no others. Grab a glass of wine and have a romantic dinner while watching the sun set over the Blue Ridge Mountains.
We have hiking trails and family games for those more active souls, and plenty to enjoy as you stay here at the Cabin at the Orchard.
My husband and I have a small cabin nearby and had friends in town for my husbandâs birthday. We couldnât accommodate everyone at our house so we rented this cabin. It was spotless, well-stocked, nicely decorated and the location is absolutely lovely! We ended up gifting our friends a retreat! We will definitely book this cabin again when we have visitors.
This is a great place to stay! It is located in a beautiful area. We stayed at this cabin the weekend that hurricane Helene hit the mountains. There were some trees down and power outages. We still had a great weekend. The cabin was beautiful. The owner Randy was really great to work with. We can't wait to stay again. Hopefully next time without the storm.
Cozy little cabin just a 2+ hr drive from the Raleigh area. Whole cabin is tastefully decorated - bedrooms have neat animal themes.
Beds were comfortable - though 2nd floor bedroom above us was creaky - floor and bed, but not unexpected for a cabin.
Bathrooms very spacious and updated.
Sectional couch was cozy with throw blankets provided. We were disappointed we were not allowed to have a fire in the fireplace. It was too cold and windy to sit out by the firepit. Lots of wood for firepit.
Enjoyed the coffee and tea.
We enjoyed the disc golf cage in the front yard. We had brought discs thinking we might go to a nearby vineyard to play, but were content to just practice some shots right in the front yard.
Enjoyed taking a walk in the orchard. If it had been warmer, we would have liked to explore even more.
Cabin was true to listing and owner was very responsive and thoughtful.
Things to know: kitchen is relatively small and the oven is tiny. Water pressure in kitchen sink is not great - especially for hot water. There is no dishwasher. Kitchen table only seats 4, though there are 3 more tall chairs at kitchen counter/bar. Plenty of flatware, cups, mugs, bowls and wine glasses, but only 4 dinner plates (there were some additional lunch size plates). The cabin sleeps 9 (there were 6 adults in our party), so not really enough space to sit all together to eat or play games. Even the couch would be tight unless you had some small kids.
My family very much enjoyed our time at the cabin. It was spacious enough for all eight of us and a dog. Cute, cozy, perfect. Would definitely stay again.
I celebrated my 64th birthday with a few friends . A sleepover like âwhen we were youngâ. What a great gift for me and them! The cabin was roomy, comfortable, beautifully decorated and secluded. We throughly enjoyed our getaway!!!
This cabin and this property was better than I couldâve imagined. We stayed here with my brother and sister in law and family friends. A beautiful fire pit with lots of available wood for burning was one of our highlights. We came to visit Mt. Airy which is a short ride down the hwy. We were welcomed by the incredibly friendly bed and breakfast owner and neighbor. Our pup loved smelling the mountain air scents and grannyâs perch is a neat place to see more views. The owner is super communicative and beyond helpful. We had great books to enjoy in the book and plentiful restaurant recommendations. There was no need to contact him during our stay because everything went seamlessly.
Staying here will make you appreciate what a loved home feels like. The care and thoughtfulness put into this cabin is touching.
We found this property and didnât know how close we were to NC border. Mt Airy, home of Aunt Bee and The Andy Griffin Show was 25-30 mins away and provided all that we needed. The local gas station, Marathon, had some things too.. Randy and I connected and communicated throughout the booking process and arrival. His was very responsive and helped us plan a perfect get away! Aunt Ruth met us at the property and her down home southern charm was a trailer to our mini vacation.. We checked in and found couple bottles of wine and lollipops for the kids, which was a nice touch. The cabin has the rustic look/ feel, but sprinkled with some technology and modern feel. Combined with a view of the orchard/ mountain, my mind started drift back then how it used to be. I grabbed a cup of coffee walked my dog every day along the orchard. The wifi keep me connected when needed and the 1 smart TV was perfect for a family huddle spot. The adult tree house was perfect place to watch the sunset! âNeeded thisâ and Big Thank You from all of us! See you soon!
