Lovely historic property; so clean and well maintained. The beds are very comfy and I particularly enjoy the in-room sinks separate from the bathroom, so convenient. The hosts are terrific, communicative, and helpful. They were super responsive when I accidentally locked myself out one evening. There is also a delightful shared cosy kitchen nook/ area with microwave, refrigerator, makings for coffee, tea- overall just a wonderful, special experience. I've already been back two more times after my first stay, and look forward to many more future visits to the Chalafonte!
The main building was closed for off season, we were given a room in a house converted to a hotel, we can hear the neighbors talking, I hit my toes many times going to the bathroom, very disappointed, not what your website advertised, please review your hotels and confirm their services. I have to be careful with Expedia selection in the future.
Booked this Hotel with the understanding that we would be staying in the Hotel. The morning of arrival, we were notified by phone that we would not be staying there but next to it at an alternate building. It was adequate but not what was paid for or explained to us when we booked it. Very questionable Business practices. Would not recommend.
A delightful one night stay in a quaint old victorian era hotel. We stayed in the Southern House which is used in winter time I guess. Nicely appointed old property reminescent of many years ago in downtown cape may, near the beach and convention hall. Definitely recommend if you dont mind winding stairs.
My daughter and granddaughter live in Cape May. Definitely my go to place. Iâve stayed twice now and itâs perfect for me considering price and location.
The room was a nice size in the Southern Quarters of the Chalfonte hotel. The bathroom was beautiful. This is quite an old house and of course like any older home you donât have a completely level floor, we kind of expect that. The one thing that was really disconcerting in the room was the antique dresser, which was leaning against the wall and had wheels on one side and not on the other so it was quite tilted, it gave the optical illusion that the room was sloping downward especially when lying on the bed. It was a beautiful antique and if that were fixed it would give a much better feel to the room.
Very nice off season stay. While I donât mind, the booking site does not indicate that off season you are in a different building and the main hotel is closed. I was disappointed by that but we still had a nice stay. Great price, old building with character, and good location.
The room was clean upon arrival. They definitely need to invest in some updated heating options though. Our room was between 51-55 degrees the entire time. It should not be that cold in there.
