The Neighborhood:

Outdoor Adventures

The area offers countless hiking trails for all skill levels, from easy walks to challenging climbs. A local favorite is the Whiteside Mountain Trail, known for its breathtaking panoramic views. Nearby trails around Lake Glenville, including Bear Lake Reserve and Hurricane Falls, are also great options.

Waterfalls

Explore some of the region’s most beautiful waterfalls, including Dry Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Glen Falls—each offering unique scenery and fantastic photo opportunities.

Lake Glenville Activities

Lake Glenville is perfect for boating, fishing, swimming, and water sports. Rent a boat or jet ski, enjoy kayaking or paddleboarding, or spend the day fishing for bass, trout, and catfish. Picnic areas around the lake make it easy to enjoy a relaxing meal with a view.

Shopping

Downtown Highlands features charming boutiques and specialty shops, offering everything from handmade crafts to upscale clothing and gifts.

Dining

Highlands and the surrounding area are known for excellent dining. Enjoy casual favorites like Ugly Dog (great beer list and pet-friendly patio), Cashiers Valley Smokehouse (BBQ), and Slab Town Pizza. For an upscale experience, try The Library, The Orchard (just 5 minutes away), Winslow’s Hideaway, or Happ’s in Glenville. Great pub options include Hidden Valley Tavern and The Fix in Sapphire. For breakfast, visit Zookeeper Bistro or Buck’s for coffee and light bites. Las Margaritas offers tasty Mexican food and a full bar. Most restaurants are within a 10–15 minute drive.

Other Things to Note:

Parking:

Parking is permitted only directly in front of the cabin or in the gravel area just below the firepit (located on the left side of the road before reaching the driveway). The driveway beyond the cabin belongs to a neighbor and is private property—please do not park past the cabin. Parking is limited to 4 small cars or 2 SUVs and 1 small car. Please refer to the photos for designated parking areas.

Internet:

Like most mountain cabins, the home uses satellite internet, which can be slow and unreliable. If you require fast, consistent Wi-Fi for work, Buck’s Café—just 10 minutes away—offers great coffee, pastries, and an excellent workspace. If reliable in-home Wi-Fi is essential, this cabin may not be the best fit.

Restricted Areas:

All garages, sheds, crawlspaces, and mechanical or maintenance areas (interior and exterior) are strictly off-limits. This includes areas under decks and near HVAC or other equipment. By booking, guests agree to waive liability related to entering these restricted areas. If access is needed for any reason, please message us first so we can assist.

Vehicle Recommendation:

A 4WD vehicle is strongly recommended from December through April due to mountain road conditions.

Hot Tub Use:

Please shower before entering the hot tub and avoid tracking dirt or debris into the water.

Outdoor Lighting:

Kindly turn off all exterior lights at night to help minimize light pollution for our neighbors.

Firewood:

Firewood is not provided.

Extra Guest Fee:

An additional fee of $40 per night applies for each guest over 8.

Seasonal Note:

Because the cabin is in a natural, wooded area, you may occasionally see insects. In the winter, ladybugs are especially common around windows and warm areas. They are harmless, but a few may find their way inside despite regular cleaning. Thank you for your understanding!

Awesome property

House and surroundings were beautiful. Only issues were that not everything seemed ready for us - hot tub breaker off, no hand towels, no access to laundry room. But overall a clean and awesome property.

Fly Fishing Trip

Fantastic stay in Cashiers! I brought my two adult sons up for fly fishing in the area. This is a great location, close to the Chattooga River in South Carolina/Georgia, and several mountain streams in North Carolina. The cabin itself is gorgeous and exactly as advertised. Very relaxing setting in the mountains. The owners have taken great care to make sure you have all you need for a wonderful stay. Beds are very comfortable, with plenty of pillows, extra linens and blankets. Each bedroom has its own full bath. The upstairs pool table is a nice touch, and the hot tub was a great way to unwind each evening after a day in the stream. Communication with the property manager was excellent. Thanks for a great stay!

Bear Cabin

Beautiful cozy cabin with all the amenities you could want. We thoroughly enjoyed our family time at this cabin…just wished the weather would have cooperated as we didn’t get to enjoy the wonderful outdoor seating, fire pit, or spa. Highly recommend this cabin rental!
