We spent a superb week at Villa la Fontana in the beautiful Umbrian countryside just outside the village of Ranciano. Villa la Fontana is a lovely property, nestling in the grounds of Villa, on a hill overlooking Lake Trasimeno benefitting from welcome breezes in the heat of the day. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool, which was a huge plus given the soaring summer temperatures. The early morning walks in the woods and on the scenic route of the lake, after a nice breakfast. The village of Ranciano is no more than a five minute drive away, further afield we enjoyed trips to Sienna and Montepulciano, as well as regular shopping trips to Castiglione del Lago, don't miss ice cream shop Be Bop, they have ice cream to die for. The owners agents, Alviero and Rosanna, were always available to help with our questions and made our stay very comfortable. Overall, a great find and one we hope to return to in the future.

TrÚs belle endroit !!! Pour y passer des vacances trÚs tranquilles. La région est magnifique.

Super agritourismo!!!! Au calme . Le logement est spacieux, ainsi que les extĂ©rieurs, piscines , salle de jeux..... se munir tout de mĂȘme de produit contre les moustiques. Un micro onde aurait Ă©tĂ© un plus !!!! . Je conseille tout de mĂȘme cet endroit pour y passer des vacances au calme .

Just lovely.

Comfortable and spacious. Airco was a bliss in the hot weather. Loads of things to do in and around the property. Convenient to serve as a base to explore Umbria and Tuscany. The host was very welcoming and friendly, and easy to approach for tips or if we needed anything. For the cooks: finally an appartment with knives that actually work!

Breathtaking view, friendly & fantastic

It’s a lovely space with very friendly people. The pool is great with a breathtaking view. The view off the lake is fantastic. The apartment is specious and has good view on the Trasimeno lake. The owner Jacopo is the best. He has a lot of good ideas of the area and food. The children enjoyed the gaming room with the ping pong etc. We would really love to come here again.

A wonderful place

We (2 adults and 4 teenagers) spent a week in this apartment at the Villa Fontana. This place is perfect in every regard. The property is big and well kept with lots of shade, overlooking a stunning view. The pool is clean and big enough. We had fun playing ping pong, foosball and pool. The kitchen is well equipped and practical. Everything is clean and you will find everything you need (towels, pool towels, hairdryer, barbecue, bikes, etc.). The host is friendly and helpful. The location of the villa is perfect to explore the beautiful cities nearby (by car). We would like to recommend this property.

Sehr schönes Anwesen mit viel Platz, Tieren und großem Pool

Die Ferienwohnung ist abgeschieden gelegen und damit sehr ruhig. Highlights auf dem großen Anwesen waren die verschiedenen Tiere - Ziegen, HĂŒhner, GĂ€nse und (kleine) Katzen. Ebenfalls schön ist der große Pool, in dem man auch mal ein paar Bahnen ziehen kann. Grill und FahrrĂ€der stehen fĂŒr Outdoor-AktivitĂ€ten zur VerfĂŒgung. Die Innenausstattung ist okay. Es gab sogar eine Kaffeemaschine. Internet und damit auch Fernseher hat nicht wirklich funktioniert. Das war uns aber egal, da wir schönes Wetter hatten und auf AusflĂŒgen oder am Pool waren. Der Vermieter ist sehr hilfsbereit. Seine Tipps zum Besichtigen und Ausgehen waren sehr hilfreich. Zusammengefasst ein schöner Urlaub!

Wonderful stay in a charming villa

The villa was beyond expectations. Large rooms, very clean and well equipped. The beautiful walls and ceilings painted with floral and Renaissance motifs have given the house a charming atmosphere. Cozy seating in the house and on the veranda and a beautiful garden with a nice pool gave us the typical Italian holiday experience. It is located in a small village with shops nearby. Short distance from Lake Trasimeno. We certainly recommend this property. Alviero, thank you for your great hospitality and we hope to visit you again.

Perfect Family Holiday

I promised my sister and her family that I would show them around my favourite part of Italy, Tuscany/Umbria; we finally managed to get away last summer. On recommendation from a friend I booked this restored farmhouse and could not have asked for more. The owner provided lots of information ahead of arrival, crucially including our driving map which took us direct to the door first time. We arrived to a lovely home; the owner has helpfully provided lots of useful information in regard to the area . The farmhouse is perfectly placed for visits out, whilst we had a car which we used for local trips, it is easy to get to the train station for the trip to Florence; we thought we would eat out most nights but found the lure of the garden and the pool meant we lived an outdoor existence and tended to develop our own Italian culinary skills. The owner met us and showed us how everything worked and was happy to help make arrangements for babysitters and indeed out Italian Pasta night. We are looking forward to experiencing the villa again in the not too distant future.

A SLICE OF PARADISE!!!!

Let me start by saying that this was our 28th trip to Italy so we are very familiar with the usual "spartan" rentals. This Villa surpassed all expectations - totally private, well stocked with dishes, pots and pans, glasses, etc and furnished well. Sitting high on a hill overlooking the vineyards and Cortona in the background - it just doesn't get any better! I woud highly recommend this property to anyone considering it - it is impeccably done and a true gem!

Terrific house; perfect location

Our experience here was first-rate. We were two couples---it would be fine for three couples or a large family. The house is clean, all normal amenities supplied. Rooms well furnished, beautiful views in all directions. There are plenty of stores within a few miles should you want to cook. The nearest town is about 5 kilometers--Castiglione del Lago is a charming hill town with excellent non-touristy shops and restaurants. We basically chose a different hill-town each day and explored Umbria and a bit of Southern Tuscany. It was the perfect location for Todi, Sienna, Pienza, Gubbio, and many other towns, all within an hour or a bit more.

Nope! Stay somewhere else!

When we first arrived we had a very difficult time finding the house. It’s literally in the middle of nowhere. When we finally did arrive, the listing was not as advertised. We chose to stay in what Alviero said was his nicest villa. I’d hate to see the others. It was a dusty third floor apartment. The pool was run down and looked nothing like the photos. Actually, nothing looked like the photos. He must’ve paid someone good money to take the pictures you see listed here. My family didn’t feel comfortable staying and opted to leave. Alviero claimed not to know English at the time which is interesting because I later spoke with him on the phone and he seemed to know it quite well. We had to hustle last minute to find another place to stay. It also happened to be in a way better location that this house. I asked Alviero for a refund and he told me no and that he asked VRBO to monitor bad reviews to have them removed. Shady! Is that the kind of guy you want to stay with on your vacation? His house is not a good representation of a beautiful place to stay in Italy. There are so many places to book. Look at some villas or hotels under Cortona (not to far away) for a much better experience all around.

Beautiful and authentic stay in Umbria!

Perfect! This villa is in a perfect central location for exploring all the wonders of Umbria and the surrounding regions. Just 30 or 40 minutes in any direction and you are in another stunning hill town or village full of shops and restaurants. The villa was beautiful if a bit rustic. Original tile floors and antique furniture complete the aesthetic of the old country. Alviero was a present and helpful host and happy to use Google translate to bridge the gap from Italian to English. We made use of the pool everyday during our stay and mornings on the patio of our apartment with coffee were everything you’d hope Umbria would be.

Beautiful Tuscany

This Villa is beautifully situated in the Tuscan hills. It is a wonderful place for families. As noted, it has a game room, bicycles, swimming pool, and grill for happy family times. The Villa itself is charming, and the beds are comfortable. I especially recommend it for families in warm weather so that all activities provided might be enjoyed.

Dies ist eine unglaubliche Villa mit atemberaubender Aussicht. Wunderbare Lage, tolle Ausstattung und in einem der schönsten Dörfer Italiens gelegen, mit Blick auf den Trasimenischen See. Ich mochte die Lage, die Aussicht und alles, was mit dem Wohnzimmer zu tun hatte. Eine der besten Aussichten vom Balkon aus. Eine komfortable und entspannte Umgebung, in der die Tage zu schnell vergehen. Entdecken Sie alle faszinierenden Nuancen des italienischen Lebens. Bequem, charmant, ich habe es geliebt.

Unglaubliche Aussicht, schöne Villa

Sehr charmant und komfortabel. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt in der Villa La Fontana genossen. Absolut atemberaubender Blick auf den See. Große Familienvilla. Wir werden unsere Erinnerungen an den Aufenthalt dort verehren und hoffen, bald wiederkommen zu können. Großartige Lage

Exceeded expectations!

I enjoyed our spring break vacation in Villa la Fontana. For those who suffer from jet-lag there is a Espresso/ Cappuccino machine easy to use and even the American coffee machine! Coffee is also provided for the first day. How convenient! The house is very luxurious, clean and immaculately presented. The rooms and bathroom are very spacious which is rare in Italian homes. It has the charm of an old classic villa nicely appointed with antique furniture but well remodeled. I was also happy to receive a Welcome Letter upon reservation with all the owners recommendations. I suggest to listen to them! My favorite part of my stay was to sit on the large grassy patio overlooking the lake and have a glass of wine. In fact, one evening we hired a local private chef and we were so happy to spend an evening relaxing and enjoying the villa and its views. I am looking forward to return to Lake Trasimeno and stay at Villa la Fontana again.

A palace on the Lake!

We stayed at Villa La Fontana for seven nights in May 2018. This home is more of a mansion with beautiful antique furnishings that were comfortable. We were welcomed by the home's manager, she is delightful, thorough, accommodating, fluent in several languages. beautiful setting made this stay wonderful. This was the end of a two week trip, we used this retreat on Lake Trasimeno as a restful and refreshing stop before we returned home. The grounds are manicured and peaceful. We cooked breakfasts and a dinner at the home and were never short an appliance or utensil. It capped a wonderful vacation...and the view just kept on getting better! Spotless clean, the old charm with all modern comforts! Amazing setting.

Wonderful stay in a charming villa

The villa was beyond expectations. Large rooms, very clean and well equiped. Beautiful artifacts randomly placed in all the rooms gave the house a lovely atmosphere. Cosy seats in the house and on the veranda and a beautiful garden with a nice pool gave us a the typical Italian holiday experience. It is situated in a nice small village with shops nearby. Short distance to lake Trasimeno. We certainly recommend this property. Alviero, thank you for your great hospitality and we hope to visit you again.
