Property was great considering the recent hurricanes. Definitely still some external damage...and a colony of bats had taken up residence in a couple of external walls. But overall the place was great, and the view was spectacular.
We didn't stay at this location. We were switched to a different place due to issues with the witing. New location was great and we got an upgrade for the same price. All worked out well.
The house itself is situated in a peaceful quiet gated community with ice cold AC and clean interior. I did extensive research on Cedar Key before booking, it is a laid back small town. If you are looking for a party town or amusement parks, this area is not for you. The primary reason I picked this are was to kayak fish with my son, and I was not disapointed with the fishing. My only complaint is that the listing stated you can launch kayaks from the dock that is behind the home, this is partially true. If you have a tiny âwalmartâ sun dolphin type kayak you probably can. We have fising kayaks which are larger, and even at high tide it was impossible to launch them from there. We had to drive them into town to launch. Other than that if you are looking to just relax, fish and take in striking sunsets this is a good bet. If you like to fish, we caught reds and speckled trout on a daily basis as well as some tarpon and sharks. (Bring or rent a golf cart)

This was a very large home, very spacious.
There were a few minor issues for us, maybe not for others:
The direct tv was out
There was a opening in the back door allowing the many bugs to get inside. I woke up with several bites.
The beds are small. My husband and I had to sleep in seperate rooms.
We are frequent visitors to Cedar Key but this was our first time staying at Heron Lane. The location secluded yet still an easy golf cart ride to Dock Street. House has lots of windows to enjoy the beautiful view. We hope to return soon.
The property is located on Rye Key just minutes to downtown Cedar Key. There are sweeping marshland views and a long dock out to the water. The house is spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay very much.
The view was amazing. The house was charming and very comfortable and clean. It was well stocked with everything we needed - plus some. We rented a golf cart to ride around and look at the sites and it was much easer to park that when we went to the shops and restaurants. We will definitely go back!
We were looking for a quiet and peaceful place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle and we found it! The house was clean and had plenty of space. Between sitting on the dock or lying in the bed, the sunrises were unbelievable! Will definitely be going back for a longer stay!! Awesome place!
We stayed at this house for 4 days and nights. House is super roomy, AC is super cool, view is amazing! We caught catfish, skates, mangrove snapper and ladyfish off the dock and saw a good size redfish too! When the tide is low, it's super low, no water to fish. When it's high it goes all the way into the yard and covers the lower part of the dock just a bit. The bird watching was amazing on the water and in the yard. The ride on the golf cart into the heart of Cedar Keys restaurant and shopping area was around 5-10 minutes with great views all the ride in. Overall, a great visit. We plan to visit again!!
