Absolutely stunning hotel! The atmosphere blends historic charm with modern elegance. The lobby features original wooden beams that add a warm, rustic touch, perfectly complemented by the beautifully curated decor throughout the space. I especially loved the quaint bar—intimate and stylish, with a great selection. One of the highlights was the hidden speakeasy-style poker room tucked away in the lounge. It added such a unique and fun element to the stay. Highly recommend for anyone looking for character and comfort in one place.
Staff was helpful and friendly. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We loved the location, super easy to get around the city and close to a Harris Teeter. Would definitely recommend!
The hotel itself is lovely. It's in an old paper warehouse and they did a wonderful job of making comfortable rooms while retaining the original architecture. My complaint is with how they do breakfast. They have an app in which you can order a few items which they leave in a bag on the counter. It's like they are still operating under covid protocols. They have coffee, but if breakfast is important to you, plan on finding a local restaurant. Parking is easy across the street in their private lot for about 30 dollars a day. Street parking in this part of town is near impossible.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Breakfast was very disappointing!! You have to place an order for breakfast and then they give you a boxed breakfast. Really no options and very limited! I like to have yogurt and that wasn’t even an option! The Hampton does a better job!
Very disappointing given this is a chic boutique hotel.

Disliked: Staff & service
Our neighbors were up partying very late (until about 4:00 am). We knocked on their door a couple of times, no answer. We called the front desk and the lady working came up to our room and then told us she couldn't hear anything because she was hard of hearing! She did nothing!
Great location downtown. Was able to walk to all the bars and restaurants. A small grocery store is across the street to pick up a few things for the room.

Amazing hotel! Friendly and southern hospitality !
Great location! Friendly staff, very clean hotel. Rooms are very large and comfortable. Harris Teeter next door which is convenient when you forgot to pack an item. Will definitely stay here again.
The facility was very nice but we could hear people in the hallways and the room next to ours. Also, we were awakened just before 6:40 am with a very loud and persistent noise that lasted nearly 10 minutes.
The hotel is wonderful from start to finish. The building was an old printing press business and the renovation is very well done. The rooms have high ceilings, big windows and a marble coffee bar space. The bathroom is well laid out with beautiful map wallpaper. I found everyone who worked there extremely pleasant-from the late night front desk manager to the day manager to the lovely woman who helped at breakfast. Bonus is the beautiful rooftop bar.
We stayed for 2 nights in a double queen room and had a wonderful stay. Hotel was very clean, beds comfy and the decor / style of the hotel was lovely. The rooftop garden was also a fun place to spend time!
Shaquana at the front desk was exemplary - she gave us great restaurant recommendations and greeted us with a smile each day. She also held our bags when we arrived before checking/ before we flew home so we didn’t have to drag them around the city. We really appreciated Shaquana’s attitude and positivity, and hope she is recognized as the most put-together and kind staff member of the check in desk department.
The continental (included) breakfast was a muffin, small cup of fruit and small cup of juice - all breakfast must be ordered ahead of time via QR code, there is no buffet option. Muffins were a bit dry but the fruit was very fresh. I think the managers special with wine and cheese is no longer a thing- but there was tea and coffee available in the lobby. There are upgrades for paid options if you wish but we opted for restaurants in the area for breakfast. Overall, would recommend and return.
The Ansonborough is a beautiful hotel with great staff and service. Our room on the first floor was very large with what looked like a 16-foot ceiling. The style is like warehouse-modern. Unlike some other customers, we really enjoyed ordering breakfast (complimentary and paid-for items) through their web-based "scan QR code" site.
Now, after having read another review about a "sewage" smell before we went, I can now confirm that there is a slight sewage smell in our first floor room. However, this is not the fault of the hotel but, rather, an issue with some sewer sidewalk caps outside on Hasell street. Perhaps Charleston dept of public works can fix that. Also, some thin walls. I strongly dislike hearing people right outside on the sidewalk chatting for an hour at 11pm as well as hearing a neighboring room playing loud music albeit prior to 9pm. Other than that, great hotel. Get a room on 2nd floor or higher.
