Broadhead Mountain Retreat | 2 Bedroom, 2 Bath

The Broadhead Mountain Retreat is located just a short drive from the city-limits of Charlottesville, taking you out of town, while still overlooking it. Broadhead, completed in 2011, offers modern living with rustic charm and quality. There are two private bedrooms to choose from –a master bedroom offering a high-end Savy Sleeper queen sized mattress and private bath and on the opposite side of the home a bedroom with two twin beds. If you feel like sleeping by a stone wood-burning fireplace claim the queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room. The open living room, with wide plank floors and wall of windows gives you a breathtaking view of the Piedmont Valley and Blue Ridge Mountains. The view alone is reason enough to stay here. The kitchen is both practical and aesthetically pleasing, fit for a chef, with stained wood countertops, stainless-steel refrigerator, dishwasher, stove and plenty of cabinet space. Whether you feel like eating at the kitchen table inside, or sitting outside, you’ll be taking in the essence of Mother Nature.

This is the ideal setting if you feel like getting away from the hustle and bustle but still want to be close; Broadhead sits on top of a private mountain on over 100 acres of private land. A short hike or drive up from the house is a private overlook with breathtaking views of Charlottesville. If you want to spend some quality time in the country, breathe in clean mountain air or just go for a hike, then this might just be the perfect place.

**Please note that the last 1-1.5 miles of road to the property is not paved, it is gravel! The road is fairly winding.**

Mountain Top Views

House was beautiful and clean. Had everything we needed to enjoy a lovely stay. The view was amazing. Beds were not a fan favorite due to the firmness. Appreciated the available blow up mattresses for alternative sleeping arrangements. The climb to the top of the hill should probably be in the description. It is a steady steep climb, gravel road for at least half that is about 3 miles. It is not a wide road either, so glad we didn’t attempt to drive it in the dark. GPS will not really be a help, so the signs were definitely appreciated. Once you get there though the view is amazing.

Blue Ridge mtn home with epic views

Gorgeous views of the surrounding forest. Ideal for stargazing at night. This beautiful home is isolated, remote and a wonderful way to connect with nature. Lots of windows to see the scenery. We were visiting from CA, had a family holiday dinner and enjoyed cooking in the kitchen with all the wooden counter tops. Nice fireplace and shower. Loved rolling out my yoga mat. Pay attention to the driving directions given to find the property. Google maps will say you are there but you need to keep driving further down the rural road. We loved our stay and calling this home for a week. Thanks to the owners!

Amazing view

Such a unique, amazing stay. We are so happy we found this property for an early Thanksgiving getaway in Charlottesville to visit our family. The kitchen was stocked with enough pots and pans and appliances that it was perfect for making a full Thanksgiving meal. We loved it!

Great house in the woods!

This was a great house to stat in for a girl’s winery trip in Charlottesville. Getting there can be a little tricky, but once you’re there, it’s great! The house fit all our needs. The online description says there are 2 bedrooms (which is accurate) but then says 3 bedrooms in another location. That needs updating, but otherwise it was as described!

On top of a mountain

The view and overall rustic feel of the house is great. Cannot stress enough that it is way off the main road with 10-15 minutes on a dirt road. Issues with the stay and reason for the rating: My child discovered a used sex toy. No joke gross! No dish soap of all things even though it was to be provided per the listing. And stores are a good 20 min away Barebones as rentals go. Great views, adequate space. Nothing else no games, books, toys or any fun discoverables. Just a place to sleep.

We had the best weekend. My only concern is the road condition getting there. We got a flat tire from a rock on the hill and ended up stranded at the house. Thank goodness it was stocked with everything g we needed for a great day.

Great experience!

My friends and I had a wonderful stay at Broadhead Mountain Retreat! We were looking for a weekend getaway in a beautiful quiet location that's not too far from other things to do (tourist attractions, restaurants, shopping, etc) and this fit the bill perfectly. Make sure you get groceries and any other necessities before you head up the mountain to avoid making extra trips up and down the unpaved road. Four wheel drive is a good choice if possible but it's doable without one. Highly recommend!

Amazing experience

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Broadhead Mountain! The kitchen has everything you could possibly need! The house is surrounded on all sides by trees, with the closest house being at least a half mile away. If you are looking to get away from it all, this is the place to be. It was so quiet and peaceful. We would definitely go back again!

Beautiful Getaway with Family

We loved our time at your house. It's a beautiful place, and the sunsets were stunning. We had everything we needed and were very comfortable. Getting there, especially the last two miles on the gravel road took some getting used to, but once we arrived, it was worth it. I'd say that the drive to the Charlottesville is closer to 25 minutes, not 15. And the water pressure in the showers was not always consistent. All in all, we loved staying at your place. It provided us a great place to connect as a family. Thank you.

Lovely, peaceful, isolated

My family of three stayed at this property for the Thanksgiving weekend. The property is isolated—a cabin in the beautiful woods—but it was just what we wanted. We enjoyed walks up to the top of the mountain, with its amazing views. The kitchen is well-stocked—more pots, pans, and plates than many of these properties have. We also enjoyed fires in the fireplace. It is about 20 minutes to Charlottesville. It was perfect for us.

Fantastic property for the location alone, sweeping views of the valley. It is not 15 minutes to Charlottesville, it’s 15 minutes down the road off the mountain to get to the road to Charlottesville, then another 15.

Bachelorette Weekend in the Woods

We were so so happy with our stay here. We had a group of 6 women for a bachelorette trip and we were so in love with this space and the property. We wished we explored the overlook sooner- don’t wait, sunset is beautiful and there’s plenty of seating to enjoy it. Everything was comfortable and clean and we learned to love the off-roading at the end of the road to the house. Truly off the beaten path and a great place to enjoy some quiet. Can’t wait to come back! Our only suggestion would be to add a full length mirror somewhere in the house

Wonderful weekend getaway

This place had incredible views that were well worth the trek off the main road. It was peaceful being surrounded by all the trees with the mountains in the background. The cottage was spacious for our family with a huge main open area with numerous windows Ft that provided sunlight. The place was perfectly clean upon our arrival. It was nice having cable tv and connection to Netflix, Amazon, etc. It was the perfect retreat from city life. We can’t wait to return.
