First, I must admit that I failed to read some of the information on the listing that stated that sheets, towels, toilet tissue, paper towels, dish soap, dishwasher soap, soap and shampoo are NOT provided. I was told by the manager that it is a regional practice. I still find it unbelievable. There was also no bathroom rugs to step out of the shower. This fact ensured dirty feet after walking barefoot on the very dirty floor throughout the house. There were no cleaning cloths, no mop or broom, no dish rack or drain board to wash dishes, and the dishwasher was disgustingly dirty around the bottom of the interior. The shaded front porch was very dirty as were both picnic tables. When we arrived we sat at the tables and got our arms and clothes dirty from sitting down. The surface of the deck and walls of the house facing the deck were equally dirty giving a forlorn, depressing feeling of neglect. We called the manager looking for a hose and were told that "we have a lot of pollen here". It was NOT pollen. We found a hose around the side of the house and got busy spraying down the deck and tables and wall, also giving the tables a wipe down. We needed to do the same to large plastic chairs that were provided to sit outside around the fire pit which were even dirtier. The manager cheerfully replaced a broken blender, brought some personal soap and shampoo packets and had some firewood dropped off after we asked, however his was not an experience I would wish to repeat.
This was the perfect place for my little family! We plan to return here and I will recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy the Frio river. âïžâïžâïžâïžâïž
