Nice hotel, located were I neede to be

Pros: clean
Cons: none comes to mind

The staff was professional, helpful and courteous. The hotel was clean and modern. The rooms were a bit small but that was expected. Overall, a pleasant stay.

Highly recommend

Beautiful and clean hotel with a wonderful view of the pier. It's quite a walk to the main attractions in the city center but we learned quickly and rented bikes from the hotel. The train is also a good 3min walk from the hotel.

Wonderful hotel, attentive staff

Pros: Clean rooms, well decorated, very helpful staff.
Cons: The rooms could contain a dresser
Location: Right on the inner harbor, next to a shopping mall. An easy 10 - 20 minute walk to Christianshavn and the old town center.
We just stayed at the Copenhagen Island Hotel for 10 nights. The hotel was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. The restaurant was very good, and the location is a little out of the way, but no so much that it is an impediment. My only criticism is that the rooms contain closets with shelves, but no dressers. This would have made a long stay a little more comfortable. I would stay there again, and again, and again.

Out of town center but great location.

The Copenhagen island is a few minutes by train out of the city center. All you have to do is walk over a pedestrian bridge to get to it. It is right on the harbor with lovely views. The hotel is modern and very clean. If possible get the room rare with the breakfast included. It is beautifully presented and delicious! Even if the rate is not available it is worth the price!

Nice view and close to downtown

I love the water view of this hotel. It was great to wake up with the water reflecting the sun into your room. The air conditioning was not strong, so the room was a bit warm when we came back to the room at night. Copenhagen pass was sold at the reception; that made my trip much easier.

Good location, nice view but stay tarnished by poor customer service

Pros: Free Internet, location
Cons: poor customer service, bad attitude by csr
Location of the hotel is good, it is very modern and clean with a nice view of the canal (our room faced away from the canal though). There is a Hop on hop off boat pier right next to the hotel where the Fisketorvek shopping mall is located. The hotel is walking distance to lots of tourist areas, e.g. Tivoli & the Stroget. Our stay however, was spoiled by poor customer service from the staff at the front desk. We just disembarked from a cruise and so we arrived early in the morning. When I approached the front desk, without me saying anything, the first words out of the man’s mouth was "I can only do check out now, you are too early"!?!?! Wow, what’s with this attitude?!?!?! Definitely not the kind of reception we expected! The man gave me no options whatsoever! This is not the first time we have travelled so naturally we realized they probably wouldn’t have rooms available for us early in the morning but we only intended to leave our luggage at the hotel so we could enjoy the city unhindered. After informing him of this he said a co-worker would help me with my luggage but he didn’t ask anyone to help us and I ended up standing around for a long time until someone finally appeared. When our group returned in the afternoon to check-in, I ended up with this same person. His attitude in the afternoon was no better as he did not smile and had quite an attitude. I asked to borrow a travel adapter and got another blunt response " We only sell adapter!”. I left it at that because I was still on holidays and didn’t want his attitude to ruin the rest of my day. In the evening my husband asked me for the travel adapter and I informed him of what transpired. He wasn’t happy with the response because we had stayed at the Square, the sister hotel to the Island, two weeks before and they had no problem lending us a travel adapter for one night. He went down to the front desk to ask again, he approached an older, bearded, gentlemen at the front desk. According to my husband, this man’s attitude was no better than the younger guy in the afternoon. This man also said they only “sell” the travel adapter, at this point my husband informed the man that we had stayed at their sister hotel (the aforementioned, Square Hotel) two weeks before and they had no problem lending us for the night. At this point the man said that people take them and don’t return them and that he could lend it to him but would need to put it on our room tab, if we returned it in the morning it wouldn’t be charged to us. Dear hubby wasn’t happy that he implied that we would not return the charger, but was totally in agreement with registering the adapter to our account; this negative chapter could have been avoided by doing this in the first place. Here’s the kicker though, our travel companions checked in using a different rep and she lent them an adapter, NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!!! Go figure! So to summarize, clean and modern hotel; good location, but poor attitude and service from the “men” (to be fair, the lady that checked us out was nice and had a friendly smile; still didn't compensate for horrible attitudes the day before). Only stay at this hotel if customer service is not important to you, if you want better service, there are a lot of other hotels to consider. Their sister hotel, the Square, is just as nice but with far superior customer service.

July/August 2010

Free hot breakfast was very, very good. Rooms very small but comfortable. 30 minute walk to touring sites. Very little help from the staff on what to see and tours available. No concierge to give advice but Marriott is an eight minute walk away and they were a big help booking tours and providing transportation information. Restaurant was good buy very pricey. Entrees are large and can be shared by two to cut cost. Over $* cheaper than hotels closer to tourist sites so you have money to use for cabs or trams. Fee use of internet in the business center with at least 8 computers available. Would have enjoyed a larger room. Lots of luggage due to cruise vacation. Hard to store it all.
