This 2 bedroom / 2œ bath penthouse, located right in the heart of the historic city center, offers luxury living and stunning panoramic views. Conveniently located on Calle Larga and perched atop the bank of the beautiful Tomebamba River, the apartment features breathtaking views of the city, the mountains, and the river, from the living area and balcony, as well as the private rooftop terrace.

*** Perfect Location ***
We are right on the heartbeat street of Cuenca’s El Centro Historic District – Calle Larga – and only four blocks from Parque Calderón, Cuenca’s main square. It is an easy stroll to the city’s finest restaurants, galleries, markets, shops, museums, and the attractions that Cuenca is famous for. Just a block away is the famous Mercado 10 de Agosto, filled with inexpensive fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, and fish, with lots of mouthwatering food booths upstairs.

The apartment is also only a few minutes away from the El Vergel neighborhood where you’ll find SuperMaxi, a modern supermarket, two small malls, cinema, and the newly remodeled Parque de la Madre. The large Mall del Río is a short taxi or bus ride away.

*** Exquisite Furnishings ***
This elegant penthouse is newly constructed and is fully furnished with modern furniture, high-speed fiber optic internet, and two TVs. Excellent security with electronic key-card access to the main entrances. This apartment is the top floor of the building, and is located far enough back from the street, so it is quiet, with minimal street noise.

Throughout the penthouse are beautiful marble floors and all marble/granite counter tops. The apartment features top down / bottom up window shades in all rooms, including blackout shades in the bedrooms.

Both the living room and master bedroom feature large-screen 50” LED TVs. The master bedroom has a king size bed, while the second bedroom has a queen size bed. Both bedrooms have private en suite bathrooms, in addition to the guest bathroom.

The kitchen is fully furnished with modern appliances, dishwasher, microwave oven, coffee maker, cookware, and tableware. The laundry room has a full-size washer and dryer. The apartment has an office area with amazing views of the city.

The full bathrooms feature smart bidet toilets with advanced functionality, like those used in Japan.

An abundance of storage space, with closets all along the hallway, in addition to those in the bedrooms.

We provide a complimentary weekly maid service, which is included in the rent.

We provide a Samsung Galaxy J1 smart phone for your use during your stay here.

*** Serene Environment ***
The apartment occupies the top floor (139 mÂČ/1500 sq. ft.) of the building, and includes a private rooftop terrace (25 mÂČ/270 sq. ft.). The condominium has entrances from both Calle Larga, and from the lovely RĂ­o Tomebamba river walk below. The condominium is divided into seven small buildings, and is filled with beautiful trees, gardens, and courtyards, to provide a pleasant and serene atmosphere, a rare find in historic El Centro.

There is a beautiful promenade along the riverbank, just outside the lower riverside entrance to the condominium.

*** Convenient Transportation ***
There are bus stops one block away in either direction from the apartment on Calle Larga. Bus fare is only 25 cents. There is a constant stream of taxis right outside the door. This is one of the easiest places in the city to grab a taxi. Taxi fares normally run from $2 - $3 to most locations. The airport is just 15 minutes away, and $4 via taxi.

There are two secure and inexpensive parking garages within a block of the condominium.

*** Television and Internet ***
We provide high-speed internet service, and US-based live television programming. Our television service provides 100+ channels with live programming in English. We also provide a wealth of movies and on-demand television programs. These smart TV’s also offer other internet-based television and music, including YouTube, Spotify, and other services..

*** Computer Monitor and Docking Station ***
You can plug your laptop into our docking station to give you access to our 27" computer monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, and color laser printer/scanner. You can also access the printer/scanner using Wi-Fi.

*** Welcome Guide ***
Our property manager will welcome you and provide you with all the information you need for a delightful visit. In the office area, you will find a “Welcome Guide”, which provides information and recommendations for restaurants, and places to visit, as well as other useful information. The “Welcome Guide” also includes instructions for operating the appliances.

Our penthouse is truly a one-of-a-kind in the El Centro area. It offers our guests the chance to experience Cuenca with a level of comfort, luxury, convenience, and ambiance that you won’t find anywhere else in Cuenca, Ecuador, a UNESCO World Heritage City.

*** Rental Terms & Conditions ***
1. Rent: Rent is non-refundable within 14 days of your arrival unless another guest can be found to take your place for the dates of your stay.

2. Number of Overnight Guests: Unless specifically documented in the rental agreement, the rental amount is for two residents only. A fee of $10.00 per guest per night must be paid in advance for each additional guest staying in the apartment. The total number of people staying in the apartment at any one time must not exceed four people. Payment must also be made 10 days in advance of the guest's arrival.

3. Security: We are required by our Condominium Association to provide the names of each person staying in our apartment and the dates of their stay, whether it is for all of the rental period or a shorter period. Also a copy of the passport or cédula of each guest must be provided to our property manager.

4. Smoking: Smoking is prohibited throughout the complex, including on balconies, and outdoor common areas. Guests must go outside the condominium complex, should they wish to smoke.

5. No pets.

6. Keys: You will be provided with two copies of keys to our apartment, as well as key cards for the main entrances. These must not be given to anyone else. All entrances must be locked upon entry and exit.

7. Residential Use: The condominium is part of a residential complex. Any other commercial and/or group usage (10 people or more) must be approved by the administrator.

8. Apartment Rules: Guests must follow the Apartment Rules that are listed in our “Welcome Guide” in the apartment. We will also supply you an electronic copy of the “Welcome Guide” when you make a reservation. The Condominium Association also requires that you sign a copy of the rules.

9. Security Deposit: After inspection of the apartment, unless damage has been done or items are missing, we refund the full security deposit within seven days to the account used to pay the deposit.

Look no further. This place is centrally located. Markets, restaurants, all within walking distance. Penthouse is very clean, the view from the patio is breathtaking. The property manager and owner were very responsive and helpful. If your visiting Cuenca and want to be close to everything, this is the place to stay.

The views over the Tomebamba River are outstanding, both from the living room and then from the upper deck. In fact, the upper patio gives you 360 degrees of the city of Cuenca. The apartment is right downtown, in the middle of everything, but very quiet. This is the perfect home away from home. All the comforts of home and then some. The apartment and the host are outstanding.A generous welcome basket greets you on arrival. The kitchen and the house in general have all the amenities you will need. Every detail has been thought of and attended to There is an extensive guide of museums, places of interest, restaurants. There are tram and bus tickets, a computer, a printer, TVs with so many channels. Talk about a generous and fair host. We unfortunately had a medical emergency and had to go home early. The host immediately offered a refund of all unused days. The host dealt with VRBO to get a refund for us. It took some persistence and several calls on his part to get it done, but he never quit until he had the whole matter resolved and we had the refund! I cannot imagine another host being as fair, beyond fair, and generous, with his refund policy and with his time. The host is attentive and 100 percent responsive. We’ll be back for sure.

Incredible stay

We stayed at Bruce's place for 6 weeks and it was just amazing. The apartment is impeccable, kitchen very well equipped, beds very comfortable, and the views are the best in Cuenca!! We have stayed in numerous rentals and this is one we would return to without hesitation. It is beautiful, comfortable, safe, everything you could hope for. I should mention i worked from the apartment on zoom calls to the US with no issues at all, the wifi is awesome.

Perfect Location and Accommodation

This is our fourth year to stay in this beautiful, modern penthouse overlooking Rio Tombebamba and entrance to the spectacular historic city of Cuenca. Within walking distance to numerous restaurants, markets, museums, art galleries and Spanish-style Squares. From both levels of the condo, you have a panoramic view of the Cajas Mountains surrounding Cuenca. This is truly the best “home-away-from-home” we have found in Cuenca. The owners are most accommodating and a delight to deal with.

Perfect Home Away From Home in Cuenca

This is our fifth year to stay in this beautiful condo in historic Cuenca. Out the front door is the World Heritage city and out the back door is the riverwalk! Perfect location. Each year there are many improvements - noise-reducing Windows and doors, improved internet system,, freshly painted - which is why we will return each year! Beautifully decorated with a 360 degree view of the Cajas mountains from the rooftop!! This is the best in Cuenca!!

Most beautiful home in Cuenca!

We loved our 3 week stay here! All of the amenities and touches went above what I would ever expect. From the vita-mix, to roku TV in each room, robes and slippers, wine and beer upon our arrival, and an extremely clean and tastefully decorated home we couldn't have asked for more. The view was gorgeous! I highly recommend this penthouse to anyone who wants luxury while visiting Cuenca. Great location along the river and convenient to everything you need in walking distance. If we're ever back, we will definitely try to stay here again!

Incredible Experience in Every Way

We received outstanding service and support from the moment we reserved the perfect property in Cuenca. The property is a true luxury in the oasis and in a perfect location near the river and within walking distance to all the major sites of Cuenca. Bruce is a hands on manager and owner who provided a modern, luxurious beautiful home for us to stay. We felt very lucky to be here because of the beautiful views and the modern conveniences that is supplied in the penthouse. Everything about the condo and his support greatly exceeded our expectations. We learned more about the city and the best restaurants to go because of his well-organized book and frequent emails or things to explore in Cuenca. Out the front door you are in the beautiful historic district of Cuenca and out the back door, down the stairs and you are on the Rio Tomebamba walking path so start exploring! The modern condo is beautifully decorated and the rooftop provides 360 degree view of the Cajas Mountains. The landlord is extremely responsive and more than willing to please. This is our 7th year to rent here and that says it all! We highly recommend this condo as a vacation home!

Perfect Condo in Historic District of Cuenca

This is our 5th year to spend two months in Cuenca and it is the perfect home away from home. Out the front door is the historic city and numerous wonderful restaurants. Out the back door is the well groomed riverwalk along the Rio Tomebamba and you would never know you are in a city!! The condo is modern and beautifully decorated and with the rooftop, you have a 360 degree view of the Cajas Mountains. It’s a perfect place to spend time inside reading or outside exploring this World Heritage city. The landlord is most accommodating and a worry-free visit is guaranteed.

EXCELLENT STAY!!! EXCELLENT PROPERTY!!!

The place is beautiful!! Close to restaurants, transportation and museums. Had breakfast several times on the balcony overlooking the river. We met the property manager, Cecilia, when we arrived. She gave us a tour of the property and how everything worked. The owner, Bruce, kept us informed of area events via email. Bruce provided a guest guide in the condo - it provide EVERYTHING. Instructions on how every item in the condo worked and what restaurants were open on Sunday/Monday. This made vacation planning so much easier. I can't say enough good things about this place. There was a care package of coffee, wine and snacks when we arrived. The whole place was spotless. I'm already planning my next trip and am hoping that Bruce's place is available.!!!!

Beautiful Gem

I recently stayed at this apartment during my trip to Cuenca, Ecuador, and it was absolutely perfect in every way. The location was ideal—just a short walk to the historic center, yet tucked away enough to enjoy peace and quiet. The apartment was spotless, modern, and well-equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable stay, including a fully stocked kitchen, fast Wi-Fi, and a cozy living area.What really made the experience special was the host’s attention to detail and warm hospitality. They provided excellent local recommendations, were always available for questions, and made check-in a breeze. Waking up to the view of Cuenca’s rooftops and surrounding mountains was a daily highlight.I highly recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Cuenca—whether you’re there for a few days or a few weeks. It felt like a home away from home and added so much to my experience in this beautiful city.

Perfect Cuenca Condo!

If you want the perfect place to stay for your visit in Cuenca, then you must rent this beautiful rooftop condo!!! If you go out the front door, you are in the old world historic UNESCO city. If you go down the stairs, you are along the Rio Tomebamba and will have the most scenic riverwalk ever

.flowering shrubs and trees, eucalyptus woods and then the two rivers meet and flow to the Amazon River!!, who could ask for more!!And over and beyond this, is the beautifully decorated modern apartment with your own private rooftop!!! You have a 360 degree view of the Cajas Mountains! The landlord is especially accommodating and the staff in the complex are wonderful. Everyone and everything makes this condo the perfect home away from home!! Do enjoy it!!

Perfect Penthouse in Cuenca!

This Penthouse is perfect in every way! It is in an ideal location with the historic city at your front door and the Rio Tomebamba walkway at your back door. This is a beautifully decorated modern apartment with panoramic mountain views from the living room and even better ones from the rooftop terrace! The best part is the accommodating landlord - receptive to all suggestions and honestly wants to ensure you enjoy your visit to Cuenca. The penthouse is well equipped and each year you find additional improvements which add to making this the perfect home away from home. It adds so much to our annual visit to Cuenca.

Amazing property right in town

This apartment is just amazing, great views, great space, every amenity included, fantastic location (literally in downtown), quiet yet in the midst of town, full of light on every room, very safe complex, all appliances in working condition, very clean, extra supplies for bedding and kitchen, close to a variety of shops and restaurants, right across a market, plenty of taxis to move around, the TV channel set up is great should you need to watch any. Cuenca is a walkers paradise, with miles of safe, well maintained trails/walkways and this complex follows this trend, there is no elevators but the stairs are nice, wide and safe. Again, the views from this place are breathtaking!!

Best vrbo we've ever rented!

From the well appointed kitchen (and spice cabinet!), to the comfy beds, to the great internet, to the unbelievable welcome packet, this is by far the best experience we have had with a vacation rental thus far. The owner clearly wants his renters to enjoy their home and really makes it feel like such. This is not one of those vrbo rentals that feels sparse and cold. It is well appointed and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. You couldn't ask for a better location either - easy walking access to everything. To top it off, the property manager, Cecilia, is a delight. She was attentive and helped us with everything we could imagine - from local doctors, favorite restaurants and things to do with kids. Would absolutely recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a wonderful stay in Cuenca.

Magnificent Views in Historic Cuenca

This condo is perfect in every way and it starts the moment you walk in the front door! Floor to ceiling windows give you a magnificent view of the mountains, you are right on the Rio Tomebamba walking path and just minutes from the historic city sites, restaurants and local markets. We stay for two months every year and the apartment is bright, beautifully decorated and well equipped. The owners are wonderful and genuinely interested in making your visit a memorable one and ask for suggestions which they follow through on - luxurious bathrobes, French press, improved shower door to name a few. From the rooftop terrace where you have a 360 degree view of the mountains and rooftops to the quiet solitude of the spacious master bedroom, this condo is the perfect home away from home.

Exceptional Stay

This experience started before our arrival, setting the tone for our 5 star experience. The communication, house guide, and detail prior to arrival from Bruce was appreciated. Cecelia greeted us on arrival and showed us around the home, having her near provides peace of mind for our stay. The views and location are perfect, we can’t wait to enjoy this property on a return trip. The stay included unexpected cleaning service for our length, a luxury. The details of fine quality bedding, towels, robes and mattress, provided the best sleep and comfort. Arrival is well thought, including flowers, wine, and chocolate. We were in a safe environment, within a beautiful complex, walkable to all sites, restaurants, and shopping. Thank you for the wonderful stay. We love Cuenca.

Best Host - Best Choice

Well before we arrived Bruce (host) was informative and attentive. It was a totally seamless check in with Cecilia (manager). We were greeted with food, flowers, wine and kindness. The apartment is tastefully furnished, complete with everything you might possibly need. The beds are comfortable, the showers are roomy and the view of Cuenca spectacular. It was quiet and restful both day and night. The location is ideal for exploring El Centro or walking along Tomebamba River. Cecilia responded to us immediately. Bruce checked in via email several times. It is truly the best short term rental we have ever enjoyed. We absolutely recommend this property.

Best rental in Cuenca!

From the moment we arrived every one of our needs was attended to. The property manager and owner did an amazing job communicating prior to our arrival. When we arrived there was wine and fresh breads and chocolates! The apartment is so beautiful with floor to ceiling windows that look over the city and mountains. The kitchen is equipped with everything you can think of, even a Vitamix! It is spacious and so comfortable. The weekly cleaning was a nice touch. The location was close to amazing restaurants on the river and near downtown. We stayed for 3 weeks and if we're ever back in Cuenca we will 100% try to book here again. I couldn't recommend this place more. After 2 years traveling the world, this is by far the best rental we've stayed in.

Perfect place in Cuenca!

Looking for a place to stay for a week or 3 months, look no more. We stayed for 3 months and we look forward to coming back!! This apartment is in the perfect location to explore the old and new of Cuenca. Steps away from some of the most delicious restaurants and historic sights. After a day out you will step away from the hustle and bustle of the city into a serene and peaceful walkway filled with light fragrances of flowers as you make your way to your apartment. The apartment has all the modern amenities with plenty of space to relax. Head up to the private rooftop terrace with a cup of coffee and watch the sunrise, or perhaps an evening beverage to enjoy the sunset. Or just take in the panoramic view of the city that is yours to enjoy. Take a leisurely walk along the river or sit on the balcony and watch the Hummingbirds, Cuenca has so much to offer and during your stay, Nogal is the ideal place to call home.
