This is a prominent hotel, sharing space with an even more prominent condo residence. The Lobby is fabulous. The restaurants and pool areas are designed for luxury and well traveled guests. The layout is awkward and the staff is often cold and self-absorbed. There’s a feeling of being at a regional casting call for the TV show “Baywatch“. The area immediately around the hotel runs the gamut from expensive to condemned. The Thompson Dallas hotel is an oasis in a city undergoing cultural transition.

My stay was okay, but this isn’t a true 5-star property. It’s more like a 3-4 star hotel, with no luxury amenities or special services you’d expect at a higher-end place. The rooms and public spaces show noticeable wear and could use a refresh. The hotel shares the property with a residence, so some areas are off-limits, and the pool is shared too. The pool area wasn’t well maintained, with leftover food and drinks around. On the plus side, the room was comfortable, and the TV had streaming. However, the walls are very thin, and noise from the halls kept me up, especially with a group of guests coming and going all night. The area around the hotel also wasn’t very clean, with quite a bit of trash and a large homeless presence nearby. Overall, it’s a decent stay if you expect a solid 3-star experience, but it doesn’t match a 5-star listing.

For this to be a 5-star hotel, they fell short in some areas. The shower and bed hair random hair strands. The shower wasn't fully clean. The floors in the bathroom were also very dirty. They charge a daily hotel fee. The lobby was beautiful. Walking distance to restaurants.

We expected much more from an expensive 5-star hotel. Instead, we got a small room with a broken coffee machine, vents blowing directly onto the bed, hidden charges everywhere, and unresponsive, indifferent staff. Really disappointed—especially coming from Hyatt.

The stay was awful for the price of this hotel the place just felt dirty in general. However the real issue is the general area around this hotel it is loud they provide ear plugs but they do nothing. I didn’t sleep at all and we just left as soon as we could. The area around this hotel is constant car racing street take over and the occasional gunshot.
