Blue Horizon - Destin Gulfgate 0804!

This 1430sq foot, 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo features a 30 foot private beach-front balcony, high speed wireless internet and free beach service March 1st through the Sunday after Thanksgiving. (Monthly reservations do not receive complimentary beach set-ups.) This spacious condo was recently renovated and offers a king size bed in the master bedroom with custom walk-in shower in the attached bathroom. The guest bedroom is equipped with 2 queen beds and the attached bathroom will feature a tub/shower combo. It offers an under counter ice maker, full size washer and dryer, and one dedicated, covered parking space in the garage.

This condo is non-smoking. For monthly reservations in this unit, please contact the Destin Gulfgate office directly.

Amazing stay

The perfect 2 bedroom condo. Older, so the balcony is huge, but decorated beautifully. Steps from The Back Porch, an arcade, the track, etc….Mix in the unmatched water of the emerald coast and you have a near perfect spot!

We have stayed in different condos each year and all are beautifully designed and well equipped with the necessary items. The view from the balcony is stunning - to see the clear water and white sand is a beautiful site. My kids and grandkids loved the beach and the pool. It was a great week!

Disappointed- had been smoked in

The condo was beautiful! Living room furniture and beds were very comfortable. View was amazing and location was great . Unfortunately, when we opened the door to the condo we were hit in the face with cigarette smoke. We checked in after the office was closed but I texted them immediately to let them know. I did not expect a response since they were closed but did go to the office the next morning. I was told the previous guest had left a candle burning and that was what the smell was from. I let her know I am allegic to cigarette smoke and thought the previous guest was using the candle to mask the odor. I was horribly congested, throat hurting and a headache. I was also not thrilled that my family was breathing in second hand smoke. I told her I knew this was a VRBO so I wasn't sure if it was possible to change condos. She said she would look but offered to send maintenance up to change the air filters. I even asked about an air purifier but told them I knew nothing about clearing smoke from a building. She said she didn't think it was smoke and just from the candle. All that was done to remedy the situation was air filters changed and air freshener sprayed in the condo. No one ever got back to me about moving spaces or to see if it was any better. I had to wash all the towels in the condo that weren't under a cabinet because they all smelled of cigarette smoke. Any clothes that we hung in the closet also smelled like smoke. We will never rent this unit again. I understand that you can't control what your guest do (smoking in the unit) but it will take some serious work to get that smell out of that unit. I think Gulfgate should have made some accommodation to make this right. Their rental agreement says the whole building is non smoking. We paid for a non smoking condo. And we paid what we feel is good money to get what was advertised and what our signed rental agreement said.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Always love staying at Gulfgate in Destin. You simply cannot beat the location, amazing private beach, and wonderful units they offer. This was my 2nd stay and at Gulfgate and my first in 804 and we loved it. The kitchen was probably the most well stocked I’ve ever seen. The front desk and beach service was another stand out. My only minor comment is that the master bedroom bed is a little stiff for my liking. I would absolutely stay in this unit again and can’t wait to go back!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Really nice condo, a lot of amenities. All room big screen tvs. Clean and up to date decor and furniture. Large bar icemaker was awesome. Washer and dryer worked well. Being picky, but although Master Bedroom bed and pillows are understandably firm, like hotel rooms, they were a little firmer than we liked. Two teenagers were super happy with the 2nd room with 2 Queen sized beds and there own bathroom.

Couldn't ask for anything better.

Memorial Week Visit

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Gulfgate is absolutely beautiful. We have stayed here for several years and will continue to stay here in the future. The workers and the beach service are top notch with the most gorgeous views in Destin. While the condo as a whole was nice, the water pressure in the master bath was terrible, almost to the point of dripping. Maintenance checked it out and said there were no visible problems. We have stayed in other units on this property and have never had this issue. The kitchen sink did not have hot water which maintenance had to come fix as well. This problem was corrected. Lastly the ceiling is extremely thin. We could hear every single noise above us and the family wasn't purposely trying to be loud. Again, we have stayed in several units at Gulfgate and have not had this problem in other units. As a whole, I would highly recommend Destin Gulfgate as your place to stay.

Could Have Been Great

Wish we could have enjoyed it more. Having to smell someone smoking weed below us was awful. I was told there was no smoking allowed.....apparently this is enforced as well as the no dog rule and people supposed to put their personal chairs umbrellas behind the ones provided by Gulfgate...this wasn’t enforced either. Why have rules if you aren’t going to enforce them?

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our trip was great! I have stayed at Destin Gulfgate numerous times and have always had a good experience! Our unit was beautifully furnished and clean. Only suggestions I have are to add blackout curtains to the second bedroom to block out the hall light that stays on all night by the elevator, reseal the front door to reduce noise reduction (especially with strong wind - howled and whistled very loudly on our last night, upgrade your beach chairs and to have a cabinet of seasonings, especially salt and pepper. Also please list what equipment is in provided on the website (blender, Kuerig, blow dryer, etc) so you know what groceries/items to bring prior. You could probably add a little pop up store in the lobby for trial size toiletries etc for convenience. Overall great place and location.

Excellent!

It was a perfect mini vacation with our college daughter, her friend and teenage son. Very comfortable, location was great. Water was beautiful. We couldn’t have asked for more. Highly recommend.
