This lovely hotel, in the tiny, unpretentious village of Drake Bay, was wonderful. I am an amateur wildlife photographer. The manager gave me Room 1, with an enormous window that looks out onto a guarumo tree. In this tree arrived, in turn, a toucan, a pair of aracaris, tanagers, tityrus, caracaras, golden-naped woodpeckers, multiple iguanas, hummingbirds - it was simply incredible. I took the best pictures I've ever taken. The pool and the bar are nice, and everyone is friendly. Just one thing: you will be waking up early. The woodpeckers and howler monkeys will take care of that.

There are many options for a luxury stay at Bahia Drake, which this is not a luxury place. It is clean, safe, and pool is great at end of hot day. It is excellent at a reasonable price point. It is not luxury but that’s not why we were here.

Wonderful Hotel&Staff

When we arrived Mauricio greeted us, helped us check in, and also upgraded our room to the second level for free. The room is super big and clean. There’s a balcony and from it you can see/hear monkeys, macaws, parrots, iguanas, and so many more animals. We were also able to get reservations to Corcovado National Park through the person at the reception desk. At the end of the trip we were also able to get reception to call us a taxi within 5 minutes of needing it. It was a lovely hotel with friendly staff too.

This hotel is a gem in this remote little town adjacent to Corcovado National Park. It has a lovely pool plus a large terrace and decks where you can watch colorful birds in the surrounding trees. The hotel restaurant is very good and the staff were extremely helpful in setting up tours for us and helping us with other recommendations. We would definitely stay here again.

Great stay at Hotel Margarita. From getting picked up from the boat (a mini-adventure itself), to a easy check-in, made for an stress-free arrival at Drake Bay. There was some confusion at check-in which made it a long process after 36 hours of flying. The first night we were exhausted but woken up by loud motorcycles circling at 2:30am. Nice stay. The best was the Chef Dixon. The meals he prepared were great. The downside was the air conditioning unit on the top of the bed with cold air on us.
