Just 3 miles from City of Duluth, 3/4 mile from Lake Superior, near many rivers, & sight seeing areas along the North Shore. Perfect for your family get togethers. Very family friendly! Over the river and through the woods...

Appreciate all the comfortable features and relax and enjoy close proximity to the North Shore & its sightseeing and yet only a few minutes from the City of Duluth! You will appreciate the rustic natural wood timbers, stone/tile & the heart of an authentic log cabin. The living room has a Danish wood burning soapstone fireplace. The formal dining room has 2 tables that will seat up to 12 people with the option of heated tiled floor. The main floor also has a bedroom and hand crafted stone tiled bathroom.

All 3 levels each have a bath & bedroom(s). Master bedroom offers a queen bed and a guest bedroom suite which also has a queen size bed (accessed w/french doors from master bedroom). The lower level walkout has 3 bedrooms (2 queens & a king). The exterior features a large covered deck with grill and tables for dining and looks out onto the private property surrounded by trees.

The property has a gentle slope. You may see deer on the property or evidence of them frolicking in the yard while you were out skiing or sightseeing.

The property is not located on Lake Superior, but is less than a mile from the McQuade Safe Harbor/Boat launch on Lake Superior.

High speed internet!

**This property is not handicapped accessible. And there are many steps that lead up to the house from the parking area.

A perfect long weekend to enjoy the mild weather. Recent snowfall had left us with a beautiful landscape, but Loren had cleaned off all the snow so we were able to use the porch and Blackstone griddle all weekend. The combination of wood, stone, granite, eclectic mixes of modern and historic, and color made Timber House an experience for all. An early morning fire in the fireplace and afternoons in the sunshine on the porch were a perfect combination. The centralized location was perfect for day trips to Gooseberry Falls and split rock lighthouse, and then back to Duluth for the Glensheen Mansion. Many hours of games played around the dining table and the high speed provided us with the opportunity to watch the NCAA wrestling finals and March madness. A wagon was helpful to haul in/out our things, but there was plenty of kitchen supplies to prep our favorite family meals. Loved the options for coffee provided by the Ninja DualBrew (k-cups were provided) and plenty of space for our group of 7. A perfect spring break getaway.
The wood fireplace took the morning chill off. Wood and lighter were provided.
Blackstone with all the accessories to make your favorite meals.
Gooseberry Falls was a quick 30 minutes or so up the road.
It was hard to leave. The creek had started to thaw our last morning; Loren had the path well maintained so we had no fear of slipping.

It’s cleanliness property and affordable however, the property needs water, bathrooms and parking lot updated. Bathtubs are lacking of support rails for elderly people to get in and out of the old style tub. Water pressure or volume needs to be increased to accommodate two or more people showering at the same time. Parking area is too far from the property which is difficult for older people to walk to the property. Thank you.

Incredible house with incredible amenities. Plenty of rooms to accommodate everyone on our trip. Weather was great so we could have our meals out on the deck. There was also plenty of plates and silverware for our meals. We will definitely keep this house in mind for another stay along the north shore.

As advertised, owners were pleasant and easy to deal with. House was well equipped (don’t have to run out and buy toilet paper/ paper towels / etc) and there isn’t a huge list of rules and house keeping like there is in some places. Only complaint is that the only way to access the two showers is through a bedroom but we made it work fine.

Great place to stay that is close to Duluth and other attractions but feels private and relaxing. Great house and property. Comfortable beds. Great entertaining space on the wrap around balcony. Kids had fun with the fussball table and ping pong table. Very responsive hosts.

Amazing cabin in the woods

All 13 of my extended family stayed here at the end of July and it was absolutely perfect for our family! We had kids ranging from age 1-15 and there was something for all of them! The house had everything we need for the little ones and the teenagers loved the ping pong table. The large porch was everyone's favorite place to hang out. And Duluth was so close when we wanted to get out for a day activity. Highly recommend for large family gatherings!
