Uncomfortable bed

The hotel is nice - maybe a little overdue a refurbishment. Our room was nice and quiet. However, the double bed was 2 singles that had been pushed together but not connected. Neither was there a mattress topper connecting the 2 beds. Consequently, the most comfortable way to sleep was to treat as 2 single beds - one each - with a shared duvet. Otherwise, one of us would sink down the gap which was very uncomfortable. We complained to the hotel but they said there wasn’t anything they could do because the room was booked via hotels.com

Makes the SHINING look like Taj Mahal

The beds were made and there were fresh towels however, the smell of the rooms was almost intolerable; in fact the first room we were given was intolerable; mildew and sour carpets. The hallways were dirty, doors looked like kids hit them with hockey sticks, paint missing and the hall smelled like a hamster cage. This is the WORST Hilton I have ever stayed at. It was very full, and bar/restaurant staff was very nice but the overall hotel was filthy. The potential for a complete overhaul of this hotel could present Hilton with an outstanding hotel but I would not refer anyone to this Hilton. By far one of the worst hotels I have stayed at. There were several grand rooms but the floors, carpets and smells ruined it. I had a cocktail in a lovely large gathering room but again the smell was so profound, this room like fermented potpourri; overwhelming to the point I had to leave.

The hotel room felt like it was from a cheaper hotel chain. The mattress topper was stained, the view out the room window was of a construction site, the hall carpets were worn and dated. It didn't feel like a Hilton Hotel. I have stayed in cheaper hotels that have felt more expensive and had much better decor. For the price paid for one night didn’t show in the quality of the hotel and extremely below par. Ive been to a few Hilton Hotels and never had any issues and loved the experience, unfortunately i can't say the same about the DoubleTree Dunblane Hydro

It looks like they are renovating the property. We were disappointed with a room that had not been updated and it was quite outdated, very basic. The facade of the building was impressive, the staff was very accomidating, the gym was large and the pool was in good condition.

This is our 3rd time staying over at Dunblane Hydro and it never disappoints. Staff were all friendly, food in restaurant was excellent and the room was clean and comfortable. Several areas to sit and relax. Wouldn't hesitate to return.
