Tucked away in Ellijay, Georgia—just 15 minutes from Blue Ridge and an hour from Atlanta—this lush mountain retreat offers a truly one-of-a-kind, magical experience.

Originally a humble two-room hunting lodge with only a pair of wood-burning fireplaces, the home was later sold to a master woodworker named Joe. Once in Joe’s hands, the transformation began. He poured creativity and craftsmanship into every corner, building a whimsical wonderland complete with playful balconies, curvy staircases, handmade light fixtures, and quirky custom sinks. Every detail was designed to spark joy and leave a lasting impression.

Eventually, Joe passed the torch to Margaret—a decorating enthusiast with a flair for the nostalgic and unexpected. She brought in antiques, family heirlooms dating back to the 1800s, and charming oddities that make the space feel both personal and playful. Her unique touch turned this already fabulous house into something even more unforgettable.

The home is child-friendly, featuring a third-floor kids’ nook (perfect for little ones or adventurous adults!), and includes an open honor bar for guests to enjoy responsibly.

Located on Double Knob Mountain, this funky and eclectic escape is best accessed with all-wheel or 4-wheel drive—especially in colder months when mountain weather can be unpredictable.
