Cozy Cottage Beside Creek with Waterfalls
Enjoy a get-away in an comfortable cottage overlooking two beautiful waterfalls on the cascading Hickory Nut Creek. The cottage is nestled at the base of Little Bearwallow Mountain next to 200 acres of natural forest with five miles of hiking trails. It is located only 17 miles from downtown Asheville, in the heart of the incredible Hickory Nut Gorge. This all-log cottage contains a kitchen/living room, bathroom and a bedroom that sleeps two people. It is part of the Laughing Waters Retreat Center in the Hickory Nut Forest Community. A special place for a peaceful, quiet retreat in these beautiful sacred mountains! This area is still recovering from Hurricane Helene. Unfortunately, you won't be able to access Lake Lure right now. If you are looking for larger accommodations, please refer to our lodge also on Laughing Waters property! Listing number HA 3565781
WIFI We will do our absolute best to provide WIFI however this a wilderness wedding venue and sometimes coverage is poor.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin at Laughing Waters. It is an idyllic setting in a beautiful forest by the creek and conveniently located near Asheville. Weâve stayed here several times and it always proves to be the perfect place to check out and relax. Each time, we leave rested and rejuvenated. The host of this property is readily available, responsive, and accommodating. The cabin itself is clean, well equipped, and charming. Helene had a tremendous impact on the community; however, the atmosphere around the cabin is better than ever. The creek is much larger and more accessible, several great spots for a creekside fire. The area around the cabin has opened up to reveal the beauty of the property. We highly recommend.
The property is perfect and has everything you need to unplug, relax and enjoy nature in its purest form. The creek running next to the cottage was beautiful and the trails surrounding the area are definitely worth checking out. I will be back!
As advertised, it is tranquil, self-contained, and centrally located. It is close to trails and has a beautiful setting. We would repeat the experience.
It was wonderful having the stream and waterfall in the backyard. The view and the sounds really make you feel at peace. The property was great and the owners are wonderful as well.
We were looking for a short getaway where we could hike some and read much. We couldn't have been happier with the beautiful cabin and the wonderful sounds of the creek tumbling over the rocks in the stream bed.
For short hikes, we left our car parked and could walk along the trails in either direction. A lovely place to enjoy nature!
Lived up to the reviews left by all. Host turned us on to a little private swimming hole just up the creek. Cabin itself is absolutely secluded and wonderful. Will be back.
Everything was perfect. Close to Asheville proper but completely remote feeling. Property is beautiful with ample trails nearby. Would definitely return.
Definitely the cutest and cleanest cottage i have been to. Love the location and the peace it brought us. The grounds were great and the communication with the host was amazing. We will be back for sure. Hoping for the spring.
Cottage had everything we needed, especially the full sized washer and dryer was super handy. Would have liked some newer "green pans" for cooking. Everything else was environmentally perfect.
If you like rustic, mountainous natural settings then this is perfect for you. No TV, radio or Wi-Fi (except inside of cabin) Hiking trails galore connecting to the property, listening to the water & streams 24/7 outside your windows. Cascading rocks, vines and fresh airâŠcomfortable bed, nice pillows, adequate kitchen for most meals. Bring your groceries and snacks. Nearest grocery about 20-30 minutes.
Cabin is small and quaint. Kitchen has everything you need. Property is fun to explore. The view from the porch is AMAZING!!! The sounds of the water will soothe anyone!
Small things to consider: no tv, rocking chairs/futon are extremely uncomfortable and these are only places really to sit except porch chairs. Its a decent drive to grocery store so bring your stuff with you!
Overall it was a great relaxing extended weekend đ
I wanted nothing more than to spend my birthday weekend in nature, but still close to Asheville to explore there as well. This cottage exceeded all expectations! Julia was quick in responses and thorough in her check-in/check-out instructions. Would definitely recommend!
This may be the most peaceful and gorgeous place I have ever stayed. So quiet and endless things to see. . Could explore for days.... Will be visiting again..
This property exceeded all my expectations. The location is absolutely pristine; you canât ask for more than a tucked away cottage with a stream and small trail running right behind it. Check in/out was a breeze, and the host is very communicative. Driving instructions were clear and easy to follow. Itâs in the perfect location to be close enough to popular sites, but tucked away enough that it feels like youâre staying in the middle of nowhere. Property is gorgeous, cabin is well-maintained, clean, and safe. I cried when we had to leave! 10/10 would stay again and would recommend to anyone!!
We had a great 26th Anniversary getaway. We hiked the trails, enjoyed the waterfalls and the serenity of this place. It is rhe perfect distance from Hendersonville, Asheville and Lake Lure.
We will be back!! Owner was great!
Cabin feels deep in the woods with a river running about 20yrds down a hill from the cabin. The entire property has one thing after another to explore, from amazing trails, waterfalls, orchids and ponds. The cabin had everything we needed. Wifi was excellent. Check in and out was stress free. Highly recommended!
Perfect place to unplug and have some adventures. I stayed here with my 3 daughters (ages 3, 5, and 10), and the futon worked great as a second bed once folded out. The access to immediate (and breathtaking) hiking trails and waterfalls was our favorite part.
