NO ORDINARY ADDRESS

Built in the 1840's and newly renovated, this 2-level, 4-bedroom Italianate-style townhome apartment reflects the Federal majesty of the mid-1800's, and the individualistic expressions of post-Civil war Gettysburg. Street-facing windows on the main level are accentuated with stained glass, creating a feel-good rainbow effect in the common area parlor and dining room.

Bedrooms on the first and second level pay tribute to the owners' family heritage. Take your pick from the Charles, Chastang, Earley or Hughes bedrooms. Like the people whose names they bear, each room has its own personality and ambiance.
A major upgrade is the amazing chandelier-adorned spa bath that lets you know this is no ordinary Gettysburg address... This is The LaVerne Guesthouse.

Located one-half block from Lincoln Square and three doors down from the historic Wills House, The LaVerne is within walking distance to dining, antiquing, shopping, and the theater. This guesthouse is appointed with all the basics you need to feel at home, including kitchenware, towels, linens and paper products.

The property will be cleaned and ready for your arrival; however, there is no daily housekeeping service. Therefore, we respectfully request that you maintain the home in a neat and orderly fashion, wash any dishes used in the kitchen and spot clean when necessary.

This is our second home in Gettysburg. We welcome only guests who are willing to respect our property as if it is their own. This is why we will rent only to families or couples. Please do not inquire if you intend to use our home as a “party pad.” We have a property manager who will respond immediately if you ever need assistance during your stay.

Leave your car in your private parking space and take a walking tour of the pre and post-Civil War era architectural styles in the Gettysburg Historic District. And don't forget to check the schedule for nightly performances or frequent art shows right in the neighborhood. Or, catch the bus for a short ride to the battlefields and visit the Civil War Museum.

If you do decide to take a drive, visit the nearby Gettysburg Outlet Stores...or tour one of the close-by wineries. Whatever your itinerary, your stay will be in the perfect location. The LaVerne Guesthouse... a home of historic distinction.

What a cool place!! This rental was perfect for our family - four adults and two kids (11 & 14) Fantastic location, walking distance to so many restaurants and shops. Comfy beds, basic supplies, and easy process throughout. There are lots of stairs. It worked that my in laws could sleep on the main level and our little family was upstairs. Would definitely rent here again.

We had a great college reunion weekend and this was the perfect place for what we needed. The location cannot be beat—right in the circle close to everything you need such as shopping and restaurants and a short walk to the college. The host communicated promptly when I had a few questions. The house was spacious with plenty of room for 4 couples. The living room was perfect to hangout in and the parking spaces was a nice benefit considering it was a busy weekend. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect location for everything downtown Gettysburg has to offer. We walked to restaurants, shops and right around the corner to a Ghost tour. Home was exactly as advertised, very clean, beds were comfortable and our family enjoyed our stay. Would say if not used to traffic noise may want to bring ear plugs or use the provided fans in each room. Would definitely stay again!

Fantastic location — step right outside and you’re in the heart of local restaurants and shops. The home offers plenty of bedrooms and space to unwind. Off-street parking was a huge plus and very convenient. We especially loved the charming antique details throughout the house, like the original doorknobs and stained glass. A perfect mix of character and comfort!

Great stay! Exactly as advertised. Couldn’t ask for a better location. Everything was comfortable. It was extremely hot but we had icy cold AC the entire stay, which is great luxury for an old building.Front door lock is a little worn, it was a little difficult getting in and out the front door. That’s my only comment, everything else was great

Great place with great location

The LaVerne guest house was a great place to stay. Very clean and centrally located to everything. Within walking distance of shops, restaurants. Finding it was a tad difficult since the LaVerne Guest House sign is no longer there, nor the beauty salon. Also, the house number is different than what we were given so the check in instructions should be updated.

Great location and roomy

The accommodations are comfortable & the place was clean. Perfect location! The description was not very explicit about number of steps up to entrance from the back & front. A member of our group with some mobility issues found it difficult to negotiate the stairs. Being an older building it is expected there are some quirks, like the tub shower downstairs you really have to pull hard to get the shower to turn on. Doors are difficult to unlock. Especially front. A note in unit would help. There is no sign outside on York Street. We found parking out back and nice shop owner helped us with access to front as it says #29 in description but no 29 on the building. Would stay again now that we know exactly what to expect!

Amazing location and very cool house. You can walk anywhere in downtown Gettysburg from the house. Bedrooms are spacious, and two full bathrooms are great. Kitchen and laundry are very useful. Highly recommend.

Our first time in Gettysburg and we wanted to be in a perfect location and this was it for sure. We walked to shops and restaurants and explored everything we could. If we had to drive, it was easy to get in and out of the parking lot. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. Would definitely stay here again.
