Couple easyfix things: Internet & water. Water has sort of osmotic taste, and even for brushing teeth it is not appropriate. Internet is very weak. We cook. And for us kitchen seemed understaffed. We have our own spices, oil, sugar, but if you plan relying on them- be informed bringing everything. Overall it is outdated. At least it is 40yo. and not much chanched since then. The driving route along the property is in very bad shape, it is basically as off-road, not fun. No light at night or signs to see where to go.

Perfect for our night stay

We were only able to stay a night but would have liked to stay longer. The staff was very welcoming. The lodge was cool. All the history. The view from our motel room was great. The deck was nice to sit out at night. The rooms were very clean and comfortable..it had everything we needed.

Solbakken is a unique and enjoyable place to stay. The sink in the bathroom of the motel unit where I stayed had a very slow drain. Also, I had a hard time getting the hot water in the shower. The mixer faucet may have been defective. I always enjoy the view from the motel units. The decor is very pleasing and appropriate for the location.

Friendly staff, could use some updates

Everything was exactly as described. Theresa who greeted us when we arrived was super friendly and made us feel welcome. Stayed in Motel #12, the room was cozy, had everything we needed, priced fairly. Loved the view of the lake. Appreciated the tv with a number of different channels. A few things made it look a little shabby/dirty and outdated (wall hanging, blinds on the front door), but otherwise, a good value for the money, and very cozy.

Friendly warm welcoming. Cute gift shop cozy main guest cabin w/ games to borrow and neat historical items! had a small clothing closet, a bathroom w/shower, and kitchenette area with stove and fridge! patio walk out to the camp area with bonfire pit, grills, firewood pile, and a swingset play area. we stayed as family. Also the thoughtful little things they put in to this property, a dish set provided for cooking while you stay, soft blankets they placed on the bed(top notch cozy, not your regular hotel blankets) there was a little fan and space heater tucked in the closet for guests if needed, and my room had a travelers log for people to sign and leave messages from the years before. At check in she even gave us a gallon of filtered water just incase we didnt like the taste of well water. Cabins where very nice getaway for a weekend, 5 stars!

Great resort and location for us. Clean accommodations and welcoming reception when checking in. It's just a great place to stay as a jumping off point for daily activities along the northern North Shore. We'll be back again for our 6th year next year.
