Great stay. Couple of small issues with the Villa which were dealt with immediately by a very helpful team. Lovely (albeit small) beach nearby with 5 or 6 decent restaurants within 10 mins walking distance. Ideal location if wanting a quiet relaxed stay for the family. Would happily return.
The villa was clean, well laid out and had everything we needed, but it was the views that made this villa special. We arrived late on a Sunday and did not find it easily. Assuming you are coming into Nissaki from the direction of Corfu Airport, go past Katerina's supermarket on the left and around the bend marked with black and white Chevrons. The drive is the next turning on the left. The opening serves two driveways and yours is the one on the left, quite steep with a hairpin bend in the middle. The bigger supermarkets were not open at that time but there were plenty of smaller stores en route (closer to Corfu town, not in Nissaki). Katerina's had an excellent selection and we had no reason to shop anywhere else after that. The villa sits above a main road, which got busy from early morning. It was a bonus that there was a rough path straight down to the beach just over the road, which we preferred to walking on the side of the road and taking a longer route. Nissaki beach is tiny but lovely and we enjoyed Mary's Lab for gyros and souvlaki, Igera bar for drinks with a frontline view, and Almyra for the waffles and shade of olive trees. We also hired a boat from Fontas, visiting Kassiopi, a pretty harbour town, and stopping to swim in quiet coves. We had an clear briefing and the boat was easy to drive. It was so good to come home to the pool each day and some of the happiest memories are of cooling off under the stars, listening to live music drifting along the hillside.
Disappointed. Photos did not match reality. BBQ was in a dangerous condition and we were unable to use it. Fixtures, fittings and general decor were tired. Sunbeds were in poor state with broken fittings. Steps to the pool had missing safety treads. There were weeds growing all around the pool area even down to the water line.
Never been to Greece before, always wanted to. So this year was THE year for us (group of four). We chose this location as it seemed pretty close to most things.
For those who know Greece, there will be no surprises in what follows but for those who don't, you might want to read on my list of pros and cons for this villa.
Nissaki is not really a village, not in the sense we generally associate to the word. Think of it as a strip of road which, along the way, offers access to food shops, a small beach, tavernas and a nightly music venue. It is kinda quiet and as long as you don't mind pretty steep hills to walk up and diwn to and from, you will be okay.
The villa sits smack bang in the middle of all that so it offers quite a few possibilities to any traveller.
Nissaki and its surrounds are very laid back and bohemian in spirit. Don't expect the latest kitchen equipment or swanky seats, these don't exist here. Facilities are few.
For example, there is, to my mind, a real lack of cooking dishes with one grill pan available and no baking dishes at all. Yes you can ask more but you shouldn't have to really. Not enough plates for more than a group meal at a time etc...not enough glasses either. All that could be improved.
The sofas and beds are pretty unforgiving and quite hard (suits me but not everyone likes hard surfaces to sleep on). The water heaters must be switched on and off as when being used. Toilet paper must not be used in loos (Greek law but not the most pleasant
