Très mauvaise expérience !

Ma femme et moi avons passé un très mauvais séjour dans cette maison d’hôtes à cause du propriétaire qui est particulièrement gênant. Ce propriétaire est du genre TRÈS envahissant et se fiche ouvertement de votre intimité (ouvre la porte de la chambre sans permission, nous réveille à 8h pour que nous partions le plus tôt possible, pire, surveille nos allers et retours vers la salle de bain en nous demandant pourquoi nous nous douchons ou allons aux toilettes et en faisant des remarques du style « encore? » !!). Au passage cette salle de bain est située dans une cours intérieure avec une installation électrique qui n’apparaît pas aux normes. Par ailleurs les consignes sur le règlement intérieur (hyper strict) sont données sur un ton professoral et de très nombreuses fois répétées (au moins 5) ce qui est insupportable. Enfin, il s’est ouvertement moqué de nous lorsque nous lui avons simplement demandé s’il pouvait garder nos valises durant la journée. Pour info nous sommes de nature très tolérante et c’est la première fois que je rédige un avis de la sorte. J‘ai exprimé mon mécontentement au propriétaire avant de partir. Bref je vous déconseille vivement d’y séjourner.

Le jour où je repasse par Gyeongju je reviens forcément à Yettle. Notre hôte est d'une gentillesse incroyable. L'accueil était super et nous avons eu le droit à la visite entière de la maison, où le propriétaire nous racontait l'histoire de la maison. Notre hôte nous a donné tous les renseignements nécessaire à la visite de Gyeongju et des environs ainsi que plein de trucs et astuces pour les visites (où aller, les lignes de bus à prendre, à quels moments visiter certains endroits) et on a pu avoir des informations pour nous rendre à la gare et quelle gare prendre. Nous avons très bien dormi dans la hanok (qui est la maison traditionnel coréenne) et je reviendrai sans soucis dès que je passerai par Gyeongju. Merci beaucoup pour le séjour !

Un accueil plus que chaleureux!

Un hôte d’une courtoisie remarquable, très attentionné On y dort sur des futons plus épais avec matelas chauffants et planchers »ondol » chauffants, salle de bain propre mais selon la tradition coréenne extérieure à la chambre , un peu fraîche en hiver. Hanok bien situé , à distance de l’arche du musée national et des tumuli . Accès facile aux autobus pour les visites culturelles et le centre ville Notre hôte s’exprime très bien en anglais

My family and I had a WONDERFUL stay at Yettle Hanok. Jung and his wife were lovely hosts who welcomed us, showed us a map so we could get our bearings and even offered suggested activities for the day so that we would be able to experience all the sights and experiences. We rented the entire home and found it be spacious, comfortable and clean. It was such a unique experience to stay in a traditional hanok-style home. The home is walking distance to the Gyeongju National Museum and a bus stop with buses that will take you right into town. My family loved every minute of our stay and are so grateful for the hospitality and warmth of our hosts!

We had a pleasant stay at this property. It was tidy and comfortable. The bathroom for our room was outside, which we didn't mind at all but may not be okay for everyone. Pros: - Korean style house, lovely wooden details - Great location, close to lots of attractions and bus stop. Busses are frequent. -comfortable bed. -The owner was friendly and chatty (find more information below). Gave us a map of Gyeongju and arrival and idea on what to do -lovely breakfast provided one of the days - fridge/freezer, kettle, tea, coffee provided -cute tea room Cons: - no restaurants near by, cafe next door open for very limited hours so take some snacks - lack of privacy and lots of rules to follow. Owner overbearing at times. Will do things like readjust where your shoes are, expects room door to be open during the day for air circulation, made us rush out on the day of check out So he can start cleaning (we were out by 8:15)!! I felt like I was intruding in his home but it's was great experience otherwise.

The owner was so friendly and helpful! The bed was very comfortable. The location was great—so close to the historic center—walkable to the beautiful park, Wolji and bridge, all of these are awesome to see at night. Just walk, don’t take a taxi tour.

Friendly Host

We enjoyed our stay at the Yettle Hanok. Our host was very friendly and helpful. He communicated with us prior to our visit on how to get there, which was extremely helpful. Upon arrival he provided us with a map and overview of Gyeongju. The hanok is conveniently located across the street from the museum and is easy walking to the village. There is a bus stop close by with buses that can take you to main historical sites around Gyeongju. Our host brought us a nice little breakfast with coffee to our room each morning, and he arranged taxi pick up for us when we departed. I recommend staying at this hanok to experience a traditional Korean home during your stay.

So, first of all, this might be a good place for you to stay if you know NOTHING about Korea and you're a foreigner. But everyone else should avoid staying here. I booked this property on Weds for Thurs and was required to fill in my phone. By midday on Thursday I had received over 10 contacts from the property by email and by text. I started to feel very harassed, as perhaps getting one EMAIL about how to find the property is normal. I work full time, I don't need constant distractions. I was asked to inform my exact time of arrival. I informed that I would take a bus at 6:20 or 7:20. I clarified that I would message after I got on the bus. By 5pm I was already receiving more messages about my arrival time. I informed that I would take the 6:20 bus, arriving at 7:35. At 7:30 I got a message if I had arrived. I called and was told that they were waiting for us, even though I specified that we hadn't even eaten dinner yet and clarified that there is no restaurant anywhere nearby the hanok. Feeling very rushed as they said they didn't live there and couldn't leave until we arrived, we bought cup ramen for dinner (the worst) and quickly went to the hanok (nothing for breakfast). When we arrived the owner wanted to sit down and lecture us about hanok or something, rather than show us the room and let us relax and eat our ramen. Also he repeated everything 3-4xs, even though I speak fluent Korean, he said it in broken English (my husband doesn't speak English), too.

This review is based on the fact that we have not stayed in a Hanok before and therefore can be biased. Similar to other reviews we appreciated the in depth tips from the very friendly owner re. the area and important/interesting places to visit. We arrived by car and parking is close by which was explained by the owner so it was easy to find. He explained the place in every detail which was very helpful. The rooms are very clean and typical Hanok style. Important to note are two facts (which we did not know before) - the house itself is located close to one of the roads. Therefore traffic can be heard. It really did not disturb or bother us but worth to mention - the house consists of 4 rooms. 3 of them have own shower and restrooms. One room has shower and bathroom facilities outside. Even though it was basically a minute walk away from the room we found it uncomfortable( especially during the night). It was also not mentioned during the booking and therefore not ideal. The building overall is tidy and has all facilities but do not expect a typical old style Hanok as you see on the pics posted for the others. Nevertheless, if you take price value into and the above mentioned points into consideration then it is worth considering for a stay. On the addtl. positive side though it’s worth to mention that we received free breakfast though. Would we come back? Not really. Depending on the budget might spend a little more and choose a different one.

Incredible Host!

Our stay here was lovely. The owner was kind and incredibly helpful — he gave us a map and directions on the best ways to see all the sights we were interested in. The rooms were spotless and the beds had heating pads, which were so cozy, as we were traveling in the fall and it was getting cool. All around a great stay — highly recommend for anyone looking for a more authentic experience unlike those you get at a regular hotel.

Traditional Hanok Homestay

It is a classic Hanok Style House with 5 bedrooms. 4 of them have connecting bathrooms, whereas the small single person does not. I had to walk out into the courtyard, only about 15 feet away, to use my own bathroom, but it was for my own use and it was clean. It is a beautiful home and the owners, who live nearby are so friendly and welcoming. The bedroom was comfortable with a good temperature. It was clean and exactly as you’d expect a traditional style of bedroom to be. The mattress is on the floor but it has heating and was pretty thick and comfy. They provided a small but good breakfast in the morning and have a small kitchen with refrigerator for guest convenience as well as a separate tea room. It was an enjoyable stay and I would stay again if I’m ever back in Gyeongju!

The overall stay was pleasant - the property is a traditional hanok house that is more than a 100 years old, run by an enthusiastic host. There aren’t convenience stores around the lodge but there are plenty in Gyeongju city so just buy some drinks and snacks to bring back and eat at the lodge if you want. There are house rules that applies to all guests for efficient management of the hanok house. The host generously provides free breakfast (this free breakfast may or may not continue in the future) at 8AM sharp for every guest in the lodge. He knocks fairly loudly on the door - for sensitive sleepers this may be a bit alarming. The hosts also clean the hanok house every day and ventilates the house for maintenance by leaving the doors of all the guest rooms open. I believe they do this so they can clean up any mess some guests may have left behind which could impact the condition of the old hanok. This lodge also has a concrete check out time and I don’t think they offer luggage keeping once you check out - but there’s plenty luggage holding facilities in Gyeongju area near the hwanglidangil. This is a traditional and interesting place to stay - reminiscent to how older korean generations lived in hanok like this. The way of operation is different but if you’re the type of traveller that pop out in the morning to explore the area and return in the evening, you won’t have problems.

The overall experience was good. The owner has set rules, he wakes you up at 8am and provides an unofficial breakfast (boiled egg, bread, yogurt and a coffee) which is very kind of him. You'd need to be up by then as he'll keep knocking on your door - essentially he wants you out so he can clean the place. Bathroom is a wet room, there are only hand towels, no flushing toilet paper (which wasn't an issue). There are a lot of attractions nearby and all walkable - the owner will tell you all about them and give you a map which was helpful. There is also a tea room which was nice and had green tea. You can only lock room doors in the evening otherwise it has to be open. He is very precious about closing the entrance door of the property. Gave it a low rating as our last day he got very aggy with us, with check out being at 10am, the day before he said he'd like us out by 9.50am - not an issue - but on the day he just kept rushing us and wanted us out asap. So we left by 9.30am which runied our experience.

Our stay was wonderful. The property is lovely to stay at and comfortable. We enjoyed talking with the host about the best way to spend our time in gyeongju. He brought us a delicious simple breakfast, which was great because it has been challenging to find places open in the early hours.
