Decent hotel, weird little things...

I stayed at the Four Points in Halifax for almost a week in the middle of October. The staff were friendly, but didn't explain some key details that I thought could have made my stay better. For example, if you decline room service, you get a $5 voucher for every night that you decline. But they don't really explain what/where you can use it. You have to place this placard on your door before 2AM to say you decline, but I don't know if you're declining for the same day or the next day, because I only received room service once in my 5 night stay. Secondly, the elevators in this hotel are the slowest elevators I have ever encountered in any building, anywhere. No word of exaggeration. I can't tell you how much time I spent waiting for the elevators to show up, and I was never the only person waiting, no matter what time it was. That being said, the room was nice and the bed was very comfortable, and I liked the fact that the hotel was central to a lot of things in downtown Halifax. As long as you're not in a rush to get anywhere, and you're fine with a laid back atmosphere, you shouldn't have any reservations about staying here.

Excellent Hotel

Although I live and work in Halifax, I do like to get out and have a girls night once in awhile. The one time my very good friend from away came to Halifax for a weekend, I decided on booking a hotel room downtown for the occasion. I choose the Four Points upon hearing good reviews from my former coworkers from Antigonish and clients at the restaurant I work at downtown. I myself, was in a bit of a rush because of my work schedule, however the staff, especially Stuart, the young man at the front deck were beyond wonderful and helpful my entire stay. The parking was around 20 dollars a night, and for a Halifax resident who regularly has tickets because of the hours I work, this was actually a reasonable amount so close to downtown and the waterfront. The hotel is beautiful, clean, great prices and so convenient to anyone wanting to stay in downtown halifax. It boasts one of the best staff and services around. I would recommend this hotel to every one of my friends as a 5 star, and as I was told (which I unfortunately missed out on), the restaurant, niche that is associated with the hotel, is "amazing" as my friend recalls. Cheers!

Very clean and welcoming hotel in a great location in downtown Halifax, so close to waterfront and activities. The room was very comfortable and we had no complaints.

All good but one thing...

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
This hotel is in a great location right downtown. We got a good deal on the room which was clean and comfy. Great for a night in the city. It's $20 per vehicle to park on the parkade the hotel which is a bit expensive. We had two vehicles and the the clerk said she would knock one down to $10. The bill was $40 when we woke up the next day. Plus the maid didn't read the dnd sign on the door and woke us up.

Just wasn't thrilled.

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
Cons: Noisy
The room was dirty. The bed covers were smeared with brown stuff, never changed while we were there. The carpets were dirty and there was detritus in the sink. It was a roof over our head, the room was warm and they provided free water. The toilet was smeared with feces and, again, was never cleaned for the 3 nights we were there. There were people who were loud and partying til 4 in the morning. we complained but they were at it the second night too. Very frustrated!!

Can't say anything bad

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet
The location is great, the room was quiet and clean. We didn't use any of the facilities (pool, gym, etc.), so I can't comment on anything else. The garage is a bit scary the first time you drive in, but parking was plentiful and not too expensive.

Great Service

I stayed at this hotel two years ago and it was great. When I booked back then, I let the hotel know that I was bringing my mom there for her 80th birthday and they had chocolates, balloons and a card in our room upon arrival. It made the stay very special. The hotel is centrally located and we walked to many attractions. I am going back to Halifax in July 2013 (with my mother) and we are planning to stay at the Sheraton Four Points again.

Nice hotel, friendly staff

I was pleased overall with my stay at this hotel. We had lunch at the hotel restaurant and the food was pretty good also but nothing exceptional. Like other places I've stayed in Halifax , the maze of a parking garage is hairy for any car over a compact so I was afraid to move it doing our stay for fear of striking the odd pole beam on a sharp turn. They have a card you hang on your door to request a certain two hour time period for the room to be cleaned. After requesting the 2 to 4 pm slot, we were awakened at 9 am asking if we wanted it cleaned and asked again at noon. Not a big deal, but if you're not going to use those cards guys, get rid of them. Overall though, the room was clean, the people were nice and it's in a great location, I would stay there again.

Nice Location, but...

The hotel is in a nice location, close to the waterfront, the Maritime Museum, the Citadel, and numerous shops. I was very disappointed with the hotel itself, however. The first morning we received an unwanted wake up call at 6:00 AM. The carpet in our room was stained in several places and looked horrible. The molding around the shower was crumbling and you could see where the water was seeping in and peeling the wallpaper away from the wall. Our room was not cleaned for two of the five days we stayed there. The first day we called the front desk they said they would come and clean it within a half hour. That did not happen. The next day we left out a card telling them when to clean it, and we when we arrived back at the hotel in the early evening the room still had not been cleaned. I went to the front desk and asked them when it was going to be cleaned. She said they would get someone right on it, she was helpful, especially after I told her about their promise to clean it the day before. It was a frustrating stay, especially for the amount of $$$ we paid for the room. I would stay at the Marriott across the street, same great location, and it actually looked nice!

Great Service

This was a beautiful hotel located right in the heart of everything, with large and very clean rooms. Staff was amazing and even came into the parking garage to help us park our trailer. No restaurant in the hotel itself, but in the adjoining shopping mall. Was catered to dinner/drinks, more of a cocktail lounge. Very expensive for breakfast. Staff did recommend a lovely place down the road for breakfast though. Everything very close by and everyone very friendly!
