Misleading room advertisement but otherwise great

Posted 21-Aug-2017 on Expedia
Pros: Location was perfect for downtown Halifax, and the room was very comfortable
Cons: There's no functioning vent in the bathroom and the AC seemed to be struggling to maintain a cool temperature. Hotel room should be honestly named.
Location: many great restaurants, waterfront activities, and boutique shopping.
Room was listed as Jr Suite, harbor view. Room is facing the harbor but the view is 100% blocked by a giant condo building across the street. Felt like it was one of those house advertisements that say "ocean view" only to find out you have to be standing on a ladder in the attic to see the ocean. We kept the curtains closed the whole time so the condo people couldn't see into our room. Other than the misleading room name. The room was very comfortable. Room service was prompt and great tasting. It's in a perfect spot for site seeing downtown Halifax.

Good location in downtown Halifax

Posted 18-Aug-2017 on Expedia
Pros: Location, good service
Location: Downtown hotel near many attractions, good place if you like to walk.
Nice hotel, really good location near many attractions and restaurants in downtown Halifax. The hotel restaurant (the Niche) is also a good place with delicious food at a decent price. The reservation with Expedia was not right (we were supposed to have a single bed for a child but the room had only a king bed) but the staff fix the situation in no time. Beware with your Expedia reservation and, as I learned the hard way during this trip, call the hotel back after to make sure everything you read is true and than you'll not be surprised when you'll arrive.

No Sunlight, no view

Posted 17-Aug-2017 on Expedia
Pros: clean and nice staff
Cons: No view, no sunlight looking onto a cement courtyard, no opening of windows and no down-free pillows !
Location: Good location near the water !
Looking onto a cement courtyard was awful. Not a single ounce of sunlight or view. It felt like a dungeon. We asked for down-free pillows (we're vegan) and the first night they had one and the second night, zero. There is no fan in the bathroom and the windows in the whole room don't open. It was depressing. The staff was nice and it was clean. As long as I live, I hope to never stay in a stuffy dungeon again. It was very expensive too.

Great stay

Pros: Location
The hotel was wonderful, from the friendly staff to the comfy bedding. Great location just a block up from the waterfront. The restaurant on the second floor had great food and great pricing.
