Hot tub was not hot at all, the rainfall shower head in our room was not attatched to the ceiling, it was dangling from an open hole. The fridge has no temperature settings, all of our drinks froze solid.Expedia says this hotel has parking on site for a fee, there is no parking at all at this hotel. We had to park down the road in a parking garage. The free wifi is not actually free unless you sign up for a hilton rewards account which i felt was completely unnecessary. Staff were not very friendly.

The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was tasty and “a la carte” which was a nice change from the typical buffet found in most places. The gym was well equipped and clean but slightly on the small size if you need room for stretching or other floor routines. Some of the infrastructure is a bit dated and requiring upkeep. At times I was happy to have ear plugs as the area gets lively when some local bars let out. Overall a good place and good value.

The rooms are dated and are in need of an upgrade. Curtains torn, safe didn’t work, furniture scratched up, cold in the front room, bedroom was warm, beds comfortable. Coffee machine in room outdated and old. Hot tub lacked water and the jets are not strong. Pool was nice. Steve at front desk was amazing. He is fantastic at customer service and gave us a lot of recommendations which we appreciated.

The hotel was clean and safe and the staff went way above and beyond. Self parking is a bit of an issue, but the valet service was so good it was well worth the extra. The food & service at breakfast and dinner were excellent!

My personal opinion: The staff was very friendly and welcoming at Holis hotel, with fresh warm chocolate chip cookies upon arrival. And the foyer area is clean and classy looking. The room layout is really cool, the bed and couch was very comfortable. The windows aren’t the best at keeping the cold winter draft out, which I imagine is why they have very thick curtains to help with that. Also the wall under the window in my room was peeling away from what looked like water damage. The bathroom is spacious and clean with a great shower, rainfall shower head and can easily fit 2 people without feeling crowded. You can hear the noise from the street as if you were sitting outside but , it is a downtown hotel. The pool was really dirty despite not being busy, I got out within a few minutes of being in the water. I did not go in the hot after that experience. No parking on site but there is a large parking garage about 300 feet so not far at all. Or you could pay 35$ for valet parking. No continental breakfast was a bit of let down but they do have free coffee. For a downtown hotel it was priced a bit cheaper than most other places. So if you’re looking to save a few bucks and not planning on swimming or getting complementary breakfast items then maybe this is an OK place to consider. It is very easy to get to a large variety of great restaurants and casino, all walking distance within 15 minutes. And the waterfront is very close as well

Great room. The Hollis does the little things and that add up to an experience that separates them for other hotel options. From the warm free cookies upon our arrival, to the t.v.’s with your name in them as a welcome to your room… a couple free bottles of water and the friendly staff make this great location a must consider in your next stay in Halifax.

Highly disappointed in the poor service with housekeeping especially paying the price to stay in a suite. I’ve done more cleaning than an employee has. Pool is usually warm and nice expect one night, hot tub is nice too but not large enough to fit multiple people as you’d expect in a higher class hotel. Breakfast options are limited, kids menu just is terrible (my son won’t eat a thing), usually under or overcooked. Front desk staff are AMAZING however and cannot speak highly enough about them!
