Booked a triple room, was told i can have a double, or pay more for tripple.
Toilet wobbles, not fixed to the wall properly.
Mattress cheap and hard.
Floor not mopped properly.
Bathroom not tiled and finished properly.
Cold.
A maze to find the rooms in dark unwelcoming corridors.
Just spend an extra 20 quid get a chain hotel.
The Old Post Office is easy to find from the bus station. A warm welcome from the manager and easy to follow instructions for getting in out of hours. Room is cosy and comfortable. The Old Post Office is just a 5-10 minute walk to the Minster. If you’re going to a show at the Minster, you can’t go wrong staying over at The Old Post Office.

Disliked: Cleanliness
The room had not been cleaned properly, we found contact lenses and pack on the floor and dust bunnies wafting when movement caused a breeze. The floor was also sticky in parts. While good for access to the Woolshops, cannot recommend a stay here.
Great location with a friendly northern welcome.
Bedding was clean and the bed was comfortable enough.
The whole place could do with a deep clean, refurb and a refresh.
Out of hours entry was via back of the pub and wasn't very well lit.
Toilet and shower were on the floor below. The small bolt on the toilet door didn't really work.
Locks on rooms were Yale locks, which felt a bit inadequate.
I'd recommend a stay here if you're going to a gig with a bunch of mates.
However. I wouldn't really recommend for a female solo traveller or for longer stays.
Good hotel great staff. Only minus is after hours entry to your room. You need a key to get in then a code to get to the rooms why not just use the key or have one door, hard to remember a code when streaming lol
Checking in was easy, Jackie and her team were very friendly and welcoming. The room was lovely and clean, the bed was comfy and lots of hot water for a shower. Hotel very convenient location. The pub had a great vibe. Would definitely recommend and would stay again
