Even though there was a man there when we arrived, he only confirmed where to find the lock box to get our key. The rooms were very small and the equipment was only adequate. The second day there was no hot water. I read the directions in the book and found the gas bottles to switch them over. The location is very rural, pretty but a long way to stores and restaurants. The driveway is quite narrow.

We had a great stay at Berry View. The cottage is so nice and well equipped, in a calm and beautiful landscape . The Terrasse is great and we loved the BBQ . Liz and Martyn are very nice hosts and gave us valuable tips on local things to see. Everything went fine and easy-going.

The host was absolutely lovely and did a wonderful job of making us feel welcome, and the gorgeous chickens were very welcome company when we sat out on the deck. The cottage is extremely clean and tidy and the beds were very comfortable, and it was great to walk to the berry farm next door to pick some berries and have some fruit icecream. Beautiful setting, we woke up to birds singing and a rabbit hopping around the garden. The beds were comfortable and the pillows felt luxurious. Liz was great at communicating. I would definitely recommend staying there to my friends.

The location was perfect. There we were, out in the country, perfect outlook from the lounge area (which included a rooster and hens), in the middle of a berry farm but unbelievably only 5 minutes from Pak n Save. There were 4 of us, in our 70s and 80s, and we fitted in very comfortably. A friend joined us for 2 nights and slept on the sofa bed.The cottage was clean and well equipped. And although we didn’t require the child amenities there was plenty there for children.The host was very friendly and helpful. The towels were changed for us as we were there a week. We didn’t use the laundry facilities but knew they were available if we had to do any washing.We would definitely stay here again and hope to book in for February. We were within easy driving distance of Otorohanga, Hobbiton, Hamilton Gardens, Waitomo Caves, and even went through to Raglan for the day.

Exploring the areas attractions

We chose this place to stay as it was fairly central to many of the things we wanted to do (caves, jet boats, hikes, Rotorua etc) but we wanted to stay somewhere rural and quiet. It is a beautiful property and cottage. There is a Berry farm right next door that does fresh fruit ice cream which is delicious! The property posting said there was laundry available but didn't mention it was 10 per wash/dry...would be good to add that detail for future guests. Would definitely stay here again!

Very nice and highly recommended

The charm of the unit rests in its surroundings. The view from the kitchen window or deck is stunning as the property is next to a berry farm. There are cows, chickens, and a few pheasants. The unit is approximately 400 square feet but has what's needed for a short to medium stay. It's close to town or the Pak'n Save, so it's possible to experience nature without being too far away from necessities. Liz and Martyn are helpful and charming as hosts.

Perfect get away

There were three of us at Berry View and there were two bedrooms so privacy for each. Beds were very comfortable. The kitchenette was well fitted out, clean, and had everything we needed for meals and snacks. The bathroom was beautifully clean and had some necessary items for those who might have forgotten certain things. The towel warmer ensured that you had dry and warm towels - lovely. The hosts were lovely and gave us the gift of some fresh mandarins, but were not invasive and gave us plenty of privacy. The view of the Berry farm was lovely and restful and watching the chickens wandering around was fun. Wifi worked very well which was important for us as we still had to be connected for work. Overall a lovely stay and well worth it. Many thanks for your hospitality and lovely clean premises.

Quiet location

We had a great stay here, everything you need as well as some coffee and jam. It was a great location 40 mins from both Hobbiton and Waitomo Caves.
