''Minos'' Maisonette House overlooking the Minoan Palace of Knossos !!

The house is situated on the beautiful suburb of Knossos, in a unique area with a fantastic view over the archaeological site of Knossos, and it is only 200 meters far from the main entrance of the Minoan Palace !!! Knossos is 5 kilometers away from the city center and 6 km. from the harbor and the airport of Heraklion.It is a city of 150.000 inhabitants with all kinds of shops,Cafes, Restaurants and a lot of historical and interesting places.
There is a public transportation to Heraklion every 5 min. in summer and every 15 min. in winter. In the area, there are a lot of shops, restaurants, super markets and the Hospital is only 900 meters away!
My House is an excellent choose for families, group of friends, friendly couples and for all of those who love nature, long walks, calm and tranquility and want to be away from the noise of the city. In addition, I would consider it as a perfect location for some one to start explore and discover the East and South region of Crete on daily trips by a car as well as to discover all ruins in the vicinity of Knossos and to visit the high lights and the impressive archaeological museums of Heraklion city.
The most known beaches of the area such as, Amoudara, Karteros, and Amnissos are 6, 7 and 8 km accordingly, away from the premise!
The house has been recently renovated in a modern contemporary style!! It has its own small yard with trees, flowers and a relaxing area. It extends in two levels in 110 sq.m and includes: On the ground floor there are a fully equipped kitchen ,a comfortable living area with fireplace and a dinning area, the main bedroom and a spacious and comfortable bathroom with a bath tub.
On the upper level there are an office area with a balcony overlooking the Main entrance of the Palace and the antiquities, two bedrooms one with double bed and the other with a singe bed, as well as a W.C .
The landscape of the area of Knossos, with its mild and beautiful green hills covered all with olive trees and vineyards create a unique environment and gives a special aura and feeling of calm and tranquility! Only if you stay in Knossos you can experience it and get the feeling! That can be a reason for the Minoans to establish in the area and built the Palace of their kings in the area , and to create the great Minoan civilization 2000 years b.c !!

wir haben den AUFenthalt genossen.Fruestueck und Wein auf dem Balkon im oberen Teil mit weitem Blick war toll.Leider gibt es keine Lokale ፡ die abends geoeffnet sind in Laufentfernung.AUCh Supermaerkte nur per AUTo oder Buszu erreichen. Der Bruder ANtonis hat sich gut um uns gekuemmert.

Very helpful proprietors

Nikos and his brother were wonderful hosts. They were very responsive, friendly and helpful. We left something behind and they very kindly made sure we got the items back. The location is excellent - right across from the Palace. It is a peaceful and lovely place to stay with excellent "vibes".

Excellent location and very comfortable

The house had all the amenities that we needed and is spacious and comfortable. The verandah is a nice place to relax under the lemon tree. An ideal location for exploring the area by car and there is good bus service into Heraklion. I highly recommend this property. Marianne Z.

A short stroll to Knossos Palace

As promised, this place is just a short stroll to the Palace of Knossos. There are some tourist shops and restaurants, but you'll probably want a car to get to a mini market or a wider selection of restaurants (it is walkable, but not a nice walk). Caveat: the GPS took us to the wrong place, so you really want to meet the owner in the parking lot at Knossos. The flat itself is clean and spacious with a well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, bathrooms, etc. There is outdoor seating and a balcony for when it is warm enough.

An Ideal Home and Location while on Crete

Of the previous 8 Vrbo homes various members of the family have rented over the past 10 years, this home had the most stylish, well-designed interior and convenience of location, especially if you do not want to rent a car to see the immediate Heraklion area. (Bus service on Crete is cheap, reliable and convenient with hourly service to most locations on the island.) The house has an open, spacious floor plan laid out in a very attractive manner with all the amenities one would need. I particularly like the high ceiling in the living room which is reminiscent of my home. The family that owns the home is nearby and was always very pleasant and helpful and on multiple occasion supplied me with in-season oranges, tangerines, lemons in addition to fresh eggs. During my six week stay I never had an issue. The home is in a beautiful setting at the head of a valley surrounded by thousands of acres of Olive groves. You step out the front door and you can take many different circuit treks on the mountain roads with two beautiful, historic Venetian Aqueducts in walking distance. The home is within 100 meters of the famous Knossos Palace where you can catch the bus and ride the 15 minutes into Heraklion or to the main bus station to go to other parts of the Island. While, at the same time, a 15 walk from the house allows you to visit numerous suburban Coffee Houses, Bakery’s or food markets. A solid all around 5 Star rating.

Spacious and comfortable

Loved staying here for week that we were in Crete. Very spacious living area and open galley kitchen that has basic pots. Homemade olive oil and fresh brown oranges and lemons and flowers greeted us in our arrival. I enjoyed picking a fresh lemon each morning for my tea and an orange for breakfast snack. We had a little difficulty in check in contact as using the foreign numbers with our American phone didn’t seem to work. However once we were able to make contact through a local friend we were greeted with such warm friendliness. andonis and his family were sweet hosts. Checked on us and answered our questions but respected our privacy. It was great location to get into Heraklion or out and about to other areas of Crete. Parking on property which is up a steep hill. This property is not quickly walkable to anything except the palace. You could walk to a more commercial district in 20-30 minutes. It is quiet and beautiful and comfortably furnished, good beds and linens- we would stay here again if we were to return. Lovely hosts! Thank you!

Superb Accomodations in the heart of Iraklio.

The house exceeded our expectations and the hospitality was superb. We we met and promptly shown to our accommodations. All the amenities we could have hoped for and the place was lovely. Couldn't have asked for more.
