Very clean! Great view. Tv didnât work all weekend but owner tried to fix issue. Not a fancy place but had most everything we needed. Best part was visiting Highlands for the first time. Great restaurants and shopping. We visited Cashiers and Lake Toxaway saw beautiful waterfalls!
The location was great and check in/check out was seamless. The house however had a damp odor, know that itâs on the water and the air wasnât on when we got there, we thought the AC would help. After the first night the dampness was bothering my husbandâs
This cabin was exactly what we were looking for in a quick weekend trip. It was exactly as described on a relaxing portion of Mirror Lake. The cabin was clean, well stocked, and conveniently located to downtown Highlands and multiples hiking trails. We enjoyed our stay!
The house was clean and the process was simple, but it wasnât quite what it is portrayed as being. Itâs an old house and smells musty, itâs right off a main road, and itâs not like youâre opening your back door to the lake bc you have to walk around the house but itâs not a very natural walk. It is very close to downtown which is fantastic and it was quiet. The bedroom was great as itâs a newer add on. Overall we had a nice time, just not totally what I was expecting.
This little cabin is older with a nice bedroom that is a new addition. The interior has several steps so be aware of that. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The location was super. Thanks so much!!
Nice accommodations for our anniversary trip. Was able to access lake to paddleboard which was great and really close to downtown highlands. You canât walk there but itâs a 2 min drive.
Only reason itâs not 5 stars is thereâs definitely some moisture in the place which caused a lot of allergy symptoms for me during our stay.
We had a great stay from Thursday through Monday. The landlord originally allowed us to extend our days from Sunday to Monday while the guest house is small and only has a queen bed. It has a pretty outdoors, a grill and the serene calmness of mirror Lake. The standup shower and two doors are tight in the bathroom, but this is a value stay.
My wife and I stayed here for our 20 year anniversary. It was great. Mirror lake is right off the back deck and is so peaceful. Itâs also located close to some great trails and waterfalls. Downtown is only a mile away with some great restaurants. We would stay again for sure.
Great location near town and with a view of Mirror Lake. Very comfortable and had everything we needed for a brief stay with a lot of coming and going. The floor plan is unusual, in that you have to walk through the restroom to get to the bedroom, but this wasnât an issue for us. The den is a cozy place for morning coffee.
The steps entering the house can be dangerous, especially when loading luggage in and out. Also the step going from living room to kitchen is fairly high and I almost fell once.
The gas lighting wood burning fireplace has no instructions, and could be dangerous without knowing how to use it properly.
There is only one smoke detector which is located in the bedroom. No carbon monoxide detector.
Why would anyone put a full glass door in the bathroom? The bamboo shade doesn't help much for privacy!
The TV was hard to figure out, and apparently there are no live local programming. We were watching a movie that was interrupted by a message "please connect to internet", at which time it went black.
The only pluses were the bed was comfortable, the place was clean and the location is convenient.
Maybe younger people would enjoy this more, but for us, we won't be returning
We love Highlands, and this location was perfect. Close enough to town, but distant enough to get away from the crowds. It's a bit worn inside, but that lends to the woodsy mountainy vibe we were looking for. Would stay again!
We loved our time here in this property! Very clean, comfortable bed, stocked with all the amenities you would need. It felt like a cozy cabin with gorgeous trees surrounding, yet close to everything.
The view from the bedroom overlooking the lake is beautiful. This cottage is perfect for a couple or someone solo. We were visiting Highlands when the temperatures dropped and the heat worked great in the cottage. The location is fantastic, about a 3 minute drive to the main streets. We would recommend this rental to anyone looking in the area for a nice, cozy, and convenient place to stay!
Used the cottage as a base to go waterfall chasing for our 45th anniversary. We lucked out that it also happened to be near prime leaf peeping while we we there. The cottage is charming and rustic, and less than 5 min to the town of Highlands. There are many good restaurants, shops and activities to do in the area. The cottage has a comfortable queen sized bed, Tv, wifi, and a fully equipped kitchen. If needed, there is a washer and dryer. The back of the cottage sits directly on Mirror Lake by the dam. Despite being close to the road, it is very quiet, and convenient to everything. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would definitely stay again.
This is a fabulous little home only 1.2 miles from downtown Highlands. It was easy to find and easy to commute to downtown. The cabin was clean and fully stocked.
Clean, comfortable, and well equipped. It worked! I wish the property was truly walkable into town, however, itâs not worth risking your life walking on that narrow, busy road with no sidewalk. Yet it is just a few minutes drive into Highlands, A special note should be made that the bed is only a full which is quite a bit smaller than the king or queen many are used to.
