The Emine Sultan Hotel has a lovely sort of old-world charm and is in a fantastic location, easily walkable to the heart of Sultanamet. However, the property has seen better days. Some things did not work in our hotel room (hair dryer, over-the-mirror light), some things were in disrepair (door handle falling off, no seal on the shower door, toilet seat falling off), and some things could have been cleaner. That said, in a neighbourhood where everything is super expensive, we were grateful for a budget option. Biggest issue is the walls are very thin in the hotel and you can hear everything, from your neighbours talking at normal volumes, to the turn of the key in a lock, and the scraping of dishes from the breakfast room upstairs, as well as everything from the street. So, not a great option for light sleepers.

Conveniently located near The Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. Breakfast service was short. But had decent options. No laundry available but a few options in walking distance. Cleaning services consisted of only getting clean towels daily even if not requested. But all in all they were friendly and it was comfortable.

I’m giving this hotel three stars only because of the beautiful view. It was really nice to have breakfast while enjoying the stunning scenery, and our room also had a lovely view and a good location. However, the rooms are quite small — we had two suitcases and it was almost impossible to open them comfortably. What really disappointed me was the bed situation. There was no proper fitted sheet, just two separate sheets put together, and they kept coming apart during the night. It was very uncomfortable to sleep on, and the mattress underneath didn’t look very new or clean. As someone who really values cleanliness and hygiene, I felt very uncomfortable. We even thought about checking out after the first night and booking another hotel, but we simply didn’t have time to move. So we had to stay for the second night. Another issue was the bathroom — from the very first day the bathtub drain was clogged. As soon as I started taking a shower, the water began to rise and didn’t drain properly. Also, the bathroom could’ve been cleaned better — there was visible mold. I’ve attached some pictures.

Ok for the price. Breakfast was cold and not many items for the price I paid. Location is great if you want to visit blue mosque, Hagia sofiya, topikapi palace, Aksara market and for airport shuttle or metro transportation. You have to buy your own drinking water (no market around to buy water) but hotel management provided me water on demand which was great.

Very clean ,staff very helpful, breakfast ok but not to my personal taste,could do with covering up of some food on display, location excellent as all sites walkable, restaurants are also within 5 to 15 minutes walk, tours can be booked at hotel and airport transfers which are recommended, old hotel with character and friendly staff.

The perfect place for an authentic experience of Istanbul. Warm and hospitable with old world charm and modern comforts. The rooms have the most beautiful windows, the roof boasts of stunning views, the breakfast is delicious. The host is kind and helpful and over all its a place I feel extremely lucky to have found. Its good value for the price and always very clean, well maintained and above all safe and convenient to all the most beautiful locations. Easy walking to the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. I stay here as often as I am able as I feel its a home away from home.
