The Barnacle is a 4x4 Toyota Tacoma , It is a custom built camper designed to explore and overland in Costa Rica, yes you can travel in the camper all over the country! Located in Playa Hermosa just 1 hr and 30 minutes away from SJO it is the perfect location to start off your vacation.

Camp in comfort with all the amenities of a hotel, hot water, AC and off the grid power.

The Barnacle is equipped with the following to make your stay easy and comfortable

1. Full kitchen, sink, stove, fridge, running water, cookware, plates, bowels, mugs etc.
2. Air conditioning
3. 12 battery that powers the fans and lights when not plugged in
4. Manual top lifting and lowering
5. 1 skylights and lots of screened windows for ventilation
6. Collapsable sliding table to work and eat comfortably
7. Camp chairs and lots of lockable storage
8. Generator with auxiliary fuel tank to power AC and charge batteries when not plugged in.
9. 50 ft extension cord to plug the camper into shore power and run all 120v accessories.
10. Lockable safe to keep all your important items protected.

Great way to spend a short trip!

My boyfriend and I rented the truck for our quick weekend Costa Rica trip so we didn’t feel like we needed to stay in one place because we could stay wherever we ended up each day. It was a great way to travel the coast and the truck was amazing on the not so great off roads. We ran into some questionable routes through the mountains and this 4 wheel drive truck got us through it. Jacob was amazing and answered any questions and was able to drop off and pick up truck from airport no problem which was ideal and worth every penny and made our trip more seamless since it was so short. Sleeping in the van was great, the AC is a monster and it got cold very quickly. No complaints other than staying a little longer. :) If you are looking to have an adventure I’d say renting this truck/van is ideal and a safe way to go! 10/10 highly recommend!
