This property sleeps 16 comfortably, and comes with full access to the inground pool, gated courtyards, exceptionally appointed kitchen, koi pond and botanical garden views, with a wine grape vineyard overhanging the main area of entryway.

Kitchen is fully equipped with two ovens, microwave & gourmet gas range. Multiple grand fireplaces, gentlemen’s lounge, and large living room on the main floor. Upstairs library seats 8 at the table and room for more downstairs in the dinner nook.

THE POTS AND PANS TO COOK IN ARE OLD EVERYTHING STICKS, NOT A VARIETY OF THINGS TO COOK IN, THE HOST MORGAN WAS RUDE, REFUSED TO BRING US MORE TOILET PAPER, THE NEIGHBORHOOD IS KIND OF SHADY WITH PEOPLE WALKING AROUND IN THE ALLEY, AND PEEKING THRU THE FENCE. I ASKED THE HOST MORGAN IF SHE WOULD CONSIDER A PARTIAL REFUND AND SHE REFUSED,SHE TOLD US SHE WOULD BRING MORE TOILET PAPER ON FRIDAY, THEN ON FRIDAY SAID SHE WASNT SUPPLYING ANYMORE SUPPLIES, IVE NEVER STAYED AT A VRBO THAT HAD A HOST AS RUDE AS MORGAN.
POOL COULDNT BE USED, THEY SAY ITS SEASONAL, DOESNT SAY THAT ON LISTING IT WAS 80 WHILE WE WERE THERE

A Perfect Retreat Space That Keeps Our Group Coming Back!**This property has become the cornerstone of our annual student ministry weekend retreat at Ozark Christian College, and for good reason! After staying here two years running, I can confidently say this is one of the best-managed properties we’ve ever experienced.**Location & Space:** The central location is absolutely ideal – close to everything we need while providing a peaceful retreat atmosphere. The layout is perfect for youth groups, with ample space for our entire ministry to spread out comfortably. Whether we’re gathering for meals, small group discussions, or downtime, there’s always room for everyone without feeling cramped.**Responsive & Caring Hosts:** What truly sets this property apart is the exceptional hospitality. On the rare occasion when we’ve encountered any minor issues, the response has been immediate and solution-focused. Great place for family gathering in Joplin!

We converged from all over the US for our son’s wedding and this was the idea house to hold us all. The owners were very responsive and accommodating. The furnishings nice and that kitchen???? Gorgeous. The younger crowd loved the arcade. Admittedly, the open concept bathrooms were strange. The kitchen counters were a little dirty and we we really wish it had been warmer to enjoy the pool. The parking is great! Overall, we had an amazing stay and would book here again!

Great Place To Stay!

We had an absolutely incredible stay at this amazing property! The location couldn't have been better - everything we wanted to do was just minutes away from the house. The listing description was spot-on accurate, and the property exceeded our expectations in every way. Our hosts were exceptional! Their communication and thoughtfulness truly stood out. When there was a minor delay with the cleaning crew due to a family emergency, they proactively reached out to us before we could even contact them. They worked around our schedule to ensure everything was perfect, and the house was immaculately clean when we arrived. The home was perfectly equipped to accommodate our group of 15, with every amenity we could need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. What truly touched us was our hosts' incredible generosity - understanding that we were a youth group requiring gender-separated spaces, they offered us additional accommodation that wasn't being used. This kind gesture made our stay not only enjoyable but completely stress-free! From the fantastic location to the spotless cleanliness, from the thorough amenities to the outstanding hospitality, everything about this property was perfect. We are incredibly grateful to our hosts for making our stay so special. This wonderful home provided exactly what we needed and more. We couldn't recommend it highly enough!

Great stay in local piece of history!

We originally lived in Joplin and raised 2 of our 4 children but moved away after the Joplin tornado in May 2011. We were excited to find out upon planning a return trip to the area that we could stay in this storied and well known landmark. Our children loved the train themes. The home is beautiful inside and out with lots of indoor and outdoor space to spread out. Our favorite things were the pool and the huge selection of books and reading materials in the library / study. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment and the hosts were great to deal with. Quick and clear communication and accommodations are top notch. We will definitely stay here again!

You won’t be disappointed

This house is amazing! We had a family wedding in town and it’s hard to find somewhere to accommodate a big family. There were things to do for all ages and plenty of room so we weren’t on top of each other. The weather was perfect for the pool and a wonderful feature. The house had everything you needed. Neil and Hannah are wonderful hosts and should be very proud of their property!! We can’t wait to come back and stay. Thanks again. â˜ș

Loved our stay at the big train house with a pool!

This is the perfect property for a large group of people. We had a total of 15 people stay and it was great to be able to all fit in one space. Having the large pool all to ourselves was the best, especially with having little ones with us. The pool had a shallow and deep end (no diving board), and it fit all of us comfortably. This rental is downtown, but we felt very safe the whole week we were there. Morgan, the property manager, was very helpful with any questions I had prior and during our stay. We did not have any major issues that arose that required fixing while we were there. The pool guy (forgot his name) does live on the property but his living space is inside the building with the garage, which is separate from the main house and pool house. We only saw him a few times and that was while he was cleaning the pool. He was super friendly and nice! Other than that, we had the property all to ourselves. It would have been nice to have a separate drink fridge, even just a small dorm-size one, in the main house as the fridge was not big enough to hold everything we needed. There was a separate fridge in the pool house, which isn't that far from the main house, but we only had one person staying in that spot and did not use the kitchen. Two things we recommend you put on your must-see list while in Joplin is the Precious Moments Chapel/Museum and Grand Falls (make sure to have good water shoes). You will not be disappointed!

So much potential.

The house was wonderful and unique. Communication with the host was sufficient. Galaga machine was a hit for the kids, and there was plenty of space for a large group. The kitchen was awesome with two ovens and two cooktops which made large meal prep a breeze. The biggest issue was a blind step leading from the "boardroom" to the staircase. My mother-in-law took a tumble and injured her shoulder, both wrists, and took a bump on the head. That MUST be addressed and fixed. Other more minor issues: Lack of towels in the kitchen and bathrooms. Lack of pillowcases. The kitchen was large, but finding things was a bit of a scavenger hunt. Checkout time of 10 AM on a Sunday led to a hectic morning after a long weekend. No flexibility with checkout time. Pool was closed, even though the communication said it was open. Not sure we wanted to swim in November anyway, but check the copy/paste info... Many of the TVs in the house didn't work. The theater room also had no instructions and no provided entertainment so we couldn't take advantage of that. While the kitchen was great, the big table was upstairs and there was only a couch and a loveseat in the main living room. I would suggest moving that big table downstairs for large meals with a large group and then turning that upstairs room into a bunkhouse with futons, sleeper sofas, or bunk beds. It was still a great weekend and I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this location again.

Loved the house, enjoyed everything. Just a couple suggestions, 1) having extra towels available for the pool 2) the movie room needs to have streaming available, we don’t have dvds and couldn’t use the movie.
