Possible construction on the base of the condo complex during these months. During this time workers may be present from 7:30 AM until 5:00 PM. If you like to go adventuring during the day then this will not bother you but if you plan on being at the condo be prepared for construction noise.

If you have ever stayed in Puako, then you know what this neighborhood is all about. Morning walks to the ocean, cup of Kona coffee in hand, some of the best snorkeling and diving off the reef and friendly neighbors who wave and say "Aloha" If you have not stayed in Puako, welcome to a world of hospitality in at this newly upgraded, tasteful condo. This is the prime spot in the building; top floor, end-unit, ocean views, mountain views, sunsets every night and in winter months, sighting of the famous Humpback whales here to give birth. The Owner has been a renter for years so knows what it takes to provide a comfortable, hospitable, home-away-from home for our guests.

This three-bedroom, two-bath unit is fully furnished and equipped from the kitchen to the beach gear. The living room and primary bedroom have air conditioning. This is a great value for those who want to enjoy all that Puako offers without the crowds of a resort.

Nearby is a local fish market, several great farmer's markets and if you wish an evening out, dining at one of the resort restaurants located a quick drive from the condo.

Paradise Realized in Puako

It’s always a little nerve-racking due to the unknown when renting from VRBO but the good folks at 2Papayas went above and beyond to communicate and welcome us to our condo. There were absolutely no surprises other than the amazing view. The condo was as advertised and it was the catalyst for our amazing 11 days in Hawaii. Great location
close to a couple of beaches, Waimea, Kona and lots of attractions. If I could give 6 stars I would. We would most definitely book this spot on our return trip.

Could Have Stayed Forever

This unti is quiet and private with gorgeous views from a generous-sized lanai. It's also located a short stroll from one of the best beaches on the Big Island. Tradewinds sift through three sets of glass sliders protected by louvered doors and the garden area below is lined with bougainvillea and frangipani. The condo was scrupulously clean and included many welcoming touches such as cool, damp washcloths, a bouquet of white orchids, a furry throw on the sofa, room freshener spray in the bathrooms, an electric kettle in the kitchen as well as a coffeemaker, beach towels and snorkeling equipment and much more. The ladies at 2 Papayas were helpful above and beyond: when I asked about facilities for making Thanksgiving dinner, they provided a disposable roasting pan plus a turkey baster, holiday napkins and colorful pumpkin decorations. The kitchen cabinets were well-stocked with other cooking needs, and extra sheets, towels and blankets were in the closet. Breakfast, lunch and dinner on the lanai while gazing at rolling ocean vistas was special. I slept to sea breezes and the should of waves -- and could easily have stayed there forever.

Beautiful peaceful place!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Puako penthouse! The beach was right across the street and we went on many walks. The view of the sunrise and sunset were incredible! The Puako boat ramp is close by to go on adventures with Adventure X company or a short walk to join Hawaii Surf and Kayak on their great trips! We enjoyed snorkeling with these companies. We also snorkeled on our on at the end of the road. We had to drive and park at the end of the Puako Beach road for snorkeling and beautiful views! The only issue we had was a few bugs and the tiniest ants if you even left a crumb on the counter
 but bugs don’t bother us too much! Having no air conditioning was a little worrisome before we left, but the nice ocean breeze kept us cool enough the whole week!! We absolutely loved our stay here!!!!!

We've stayed at this property many times over the years, but this is the first time with Mary and her team at 2 Papayas. Hands down this was our best guest experience. The condo was super clean, well appointed and, above all, comfortable. We cannot wait to return!

Beautiful small community get-a-way

Beautiful condo and location! This is the first time we’ve stayed this far North and we really loved it. The Puako community was quaint, quiet and friendly. The condo is right next to the Puako General Store which offers lots of great food as well as beach rentals, like boogie boards, snorkeling and diving equipment. You’re only a few minutes drive from some of the best beaches in the state; Beach 69, Hapuna and Mauna Kea Beach. You can be in Waimea in 20 minutes for great dining and shopping. Exploring Western Kohala will take you to Kawaihae (some good food), Hawi (charming town on the North Shore) and the Pololu Valley (one of the more accessible valleys and one of the most beautiful places in Hawaii). A 10 minute drive South will take you to Mauna Lani (Foodland and shopping) and Waikaloa Beach (Queen’s Marketplace and Island Gourmet)...good food and shopping. The view from the condo is outstanding. Though not right on the beach, being on the top floor of the building provides a wonderful vantage. It’s a corner unit so you can watch the sunrise between Mauna Kea and Kohala and the sunset into the Pacific. Maui is looming majestically beyond Kohala and, when clear, seems very close. We loved just sitting on the lanai and enjoying the view. The condo was very clean and well appointed. The kitchen had everything we needed and we didn’t mind that there was no dishwasher. The furniture and beds were comfortable and, even though there is no AC, the cool trade winds and fans kept it comfortable. Some bugs are to be expected with no AC & windows open in the tropics. The 2Papaya team was very responsive and accommodating. We would definitely rent from them again.

Piano penthouse visit.

Enjoyed the penthouse with great views, close to many beaches, other places to visit and clean. Without a/c, having to leave doors and windows open to get air flow it got quite noisy.
