The Wailua Hideaway vacation home borders the Opaekaa Stream just behind Sleeping Giant mountain on Kauai's East side, in the Wailua Homesteads just minutes from Kapaa town. This one bedroom, one bath Kauai vacation rental can comfortably accommodate up to four guests. Private, peaceful and fully-equipped, the Wailua Hideaway is the perfect 'home away from home' for your next Kauai vacation.

The living room offers a wonderful view of the surrounding tropical landscape and is tastefully decorated with Island-style furnishings. The sofa also makes into a comfortable double bed. Wailua Hideaway is located on the ground floor of a custom 2-story Redwood home that was beautifully crafted and is meticulously cared for.

The bedroom is spacious and inviting with stream and mountain views and its own private lanai. With doors and windows on three sides, the room stays cool and comfortable even on the warmest tropical days. The King bed is comfortable and lavishly adorned.

The tile bathroom is well ventilated and includes a shower/tub, towels and paper products. The Wailua Hideaway features a private laundry room for your convenience as well as all linens, beach towels and laundry soap.

The Wailua River is one of the most famous and traveled rivers in the State of Hawaii. A beautiful kayak trip up the Wailua River and a short hike will bring you to the stunning Ulu`Wehi Falls, more commonly known as 'Secret Falls'. Standing at approximately 120 feet, Secret Falls is a sight to be seen and the perfect backdrop for Picnics, photos and fun!

Or, if you'd prefer, you can see the Wailua River by motorized boat. Several tour companies offer hourly tours up the Wailua River to the famous Fern Grotto. Tours include Hawaiian entertainment by local musicians and hula dancers.

We had the best time. The apartment has absolutely everything you need, the views from the back are stunning, and the apartment itself was very clean and comfortable. Couldn’t have asked for better hosts as well. You are right by a massive waterfall and canyon - can’t beat that! You won’t regret staying here.

The property was everything we hoped for. Beautiful and quite location with an easy drive to so many places on the island we wanted to visit. There was an initial problem with the kitchen plumbing but David our host communicated with us right away and had a plumber out asap. We had a wonderful week at Wailua Hidaway, and we would happily visit again.

Very nice place on Kauai! It.s on a dead end street, so very quiet, but close enough to the main road for easy access to lots of things to see and do. David was very welcoming - he lives upstairs, but there is really no issue there. The apartment isn't walking distance to the beach, but it's a short drive down the hill. If you are a walker or runner,l there is a long paved path along the ocean that's really nice. As a note, there's no AC in the apartment, but fans and a cross breeze keep it cool enough. Overall we would recommend this as a great place to chill out and enjoy beautiful Kauai!

The stay here was incredible! Absolutely serene. If you want to be in a beautiful quiet area, away from the highway and tourist centers, this is definitely the place! You won’t even mind the small drive out of town because it’s so gorgeous and scenic. The place itself is so cozy and cute! The back deck is 100% worth it. Waking up to the sound of rain each morning isn’t so bad in a place like this.

Overall great place to stay. I would have given it a 5 star review except for the weevil bugs at night that gets attracted to any inside lights or anything white like the refrigerator. Also next time for more privacy I would choose a non-host home.(owner lives upstairs)

Loved staying here. Woke up every morning to the sound of the birds and the roosters. Would make breakfast and sit on the deck for a peaceful start to our day. The place had everything we needed. And even though there’s no air-conditioning with the doors open at night and the fans running in July, it stayed plenty cool and refreshing. Would definitely look for staying here again.

Perfect homebase

Cozy apartment with a terrific deck. We enjoyed our morning coffee listening to the birds out back. Perfect homebase for adventures throughout the island. East side is a bit less touristic with less busy beaches and near the town of Kaapa

Beautifully furnished, quiet, spotlessly clean, gorgeous backyard

We feel so fortunate to have been able to spend 2 weeks on Kauai hosted by Lynda and David. The home is beautifully decorated and thoughtfully furnished. It is located in a quiet, tidy and safe neighborhood. The apartment is more upscale inside than you would expect, given the picture with a wood siding exterior and description of having a creek nearby. We cooked nearly all of our meals, the kitchen fully equipped with everything we needed and of good quality. The washer and dryer in a separate laundry room seemed new. Fresh tropical flowers set out in several places. And so so clean—that really stood out. The back of the apartment and deck face a beautifully landscaped tropical yard, with a creek down the hill with birds (wild and domestic) and bullfrogs. There are other homes to the side but not directly facing so it’s a nice private space to eat meals, write cards and plan the next day’s activities. The hosts David and Lynda are wonderful, seem to enjoy sharing their home and island life. We didn’t have any concerns but when we checked in about anything, David was the main contact and promptly and graciously responded. We hiked all over Kauai and were so happy to return at the end of each day to such a lovely, comfortable home.

We stayed here for 4 nights with our 1.5 year old. Easy check in, fully equipped unit, very aesthetically pleasing. Travel crib provided, but just to note, no high chair. We loved the lanai which provides protection for the frequent rain so you can still enjoy drinking your coffee outside. We thought central location for heading anywhere on the island was perfect as well.
