Peaceful setting 10 minutes to New Braunfels, San Marcos or Seguin
Opa's Haus is a 4 bedroom, 2 bath home. Three bedrooms downstairs each have a queen bed. Upstairs is one large bedroom with 4 twin beds. So the house can easily sleep 10 people. The house was originally built in 1860 by German immigrants who used 'fachwerk' (half timber) construction with which they were familiar in Germany. Some of these original walls have been exposed to show the structural beams held together with hand-whittled pegs instead of nails. Between the beams you can also see the handmade bricks. Even though built before Abraham Lincoln was President, the house now has all the modern conveniences of central heat and air conditioning and kitchen appliances. In the living room is a large TV with satellite service. There is also a large outdoor charcoal grill. The spacious front porch is the perfect place to relax after a day of activities - a good place to reconnect with family and friends. If your group is larger than 10 we also have 3 other houses on the property which could accommodate a family reunion. The location is the perfect combination of peaceful country living and access to attractions in New Braunfels, Seguin or San Marcos. All 3 towns are just 10 minutes from Opa's Haus.
We hosted my sister-in-laws baby shower at Opaâs house and had a pretty great experience. We had some AC problems on the first night but Joy was able to send someone out to fix it right away and provided a partial refund for the troubles! There were also some creepy crawlies (as to be expected out in the country) but overall had a great time. Would definitely book this lovely cabin again for future family events!
House was much bigger than expected, love the old charm. Daily Scorpions in the house were a bit shocking for my washington child. Beds were comfortable. I did have to make an emergency run to get TP as there was only one back up roll left. it really was a fun stay.botbathrooms
Opa's house and cabin are remarkable architecture in a beautiful farm like setting. Close to wedding venues Harper Hill Ranch and Geronimo Oaks. Super convenient for both. Had everything we needed and owners were awesome! super res
what a wonderful little getaway! bride, bridesmaids and bride's mother stayed and we loved it. plenty of space, very comfy and homey and a nice little place to be together. thank you for everything!
Overall, it was a great stay in the country. Be ready for scorpions and other little critters. There is an additional charge per day after 2 guests that we didn't realize at booking. Fun, little place to stay with lots of history.
We enjoyed our stay at Opaâs house. I used to live in Kingsbury and I know there is a lot of bugs and wildlife but I was shocked by the number of scorpions in the house. There is not much that can be done about that but be on the look out. After the first night they started leaving us alone and really enjoyed the rest of our trip. The house is close to lots of fun activities but far enough out in the country to enjoy the quiet.
Great little place out of the city. We came for the weekend to float the river. It was close to 3 different rivers with plenty of options near by to rent tubes. Qlso close enough to town to run and get food as needed.
This house was so cute and quaint! From the outside, it looks small but when you get in, itâs the perfect size! A/C is wonderful haha! Less than 10 minutes from Geronimo wedding venue! It was a very nice stay!
This was a great place to stay it was very comfortable and nice. The property manager was very helpful after we locked ourself out. My only complaint was there were a decent amount of scorpions we had to deal with.
This house is perfect for a large family. It is the perfect distance from town that you can get what you need when you need it, but have the privacy that you want. We were in town for a Texas State graduation ceremony which was only about a 20 minute drive.
The house was built in the 1800âs, so it has a ton of character. It has been updated so it doesnât feel like an old house. It is located on what appears to be a ranch. We absolutely loved it out here. We had the pleasure of having deer in the yard one morning which we all stood at the windows and watched them for a few minutes.
Perfect location. Quiet and comfortable.
We came for big event but the highlight was truly the quiet peaceful abode that became our home for a week. Tastefully decorated and restored with a light hand comfortable beds and open fields off the patio to entertain the eye.
Relaxing.
New Braunfels is charming and itâs Saturday market a gem.
Joy and Sherman are wonderful caretakers and hosts. Lovely people.
This was the PERFECT stay with it being so close to the Geronimo Oaks Wedding Venue. Although the house is older- it was charming and spacious for our group of 8. The host was amazing and communicated well in advance of our stay and promptly responded to any messages I sent. Hands down one of the best stays weâve ever experienced. Highly recommend! It was close to Seguin and New Braunfels- perfectly located for a country feel without being too far from necessities.
