Walk to Brennecke's Beach, Poipu Beach Park, Kiahuna Beach, Shipwreck Beach, the Hyatt beach, and more. Restaurants in walking distance include Brennecke's Beach Broiler and Kalapaki Joe's, both Kauai classics you won't want to miss. Our Poipu rentals at Kahala at Poipu Kai share a wide variety of resort amenities. Kahala has its own swimming pool and jacuzzi and shares tennis courts with other units at the Poipu Kai complex. The tennis courts and pool are conveniently close to Kahala 123. A pleasant stroll through the grounds brings you to Brennecke's beach, and to the Poipu Beach Park just on the other side of that. The Poipu Beach Park is a sheltered white sand beach that's perfect for children to wade and swim.

Several dining options are also within walking distance, like Kalapaki Joe's, the westernmost sports bar and grill in the United States! A very short walk across the grounds and you'll be able to enjoy happy hour, Taco Tuesdays, poke bowls, burgers and more. Brennecke's Beach Broiler is only a couple minutes farther on foot. You can enjoy your day at the beach then stop in for anything from shave ice to sushi, or some of the best fish and chips around.

Kahala 123 is a spacious 1br/1ba with an ocean view. There are lovely wood floors throughout, and a private lanai where you can enjoy an informal al fresco meal while watching the ocean. The full kitchen means you can prepare your own meals and dine privately at home, though if you want to go out, Kalapaki Joe's is really close and Brennecke's Beach Broiler about a 10 minute walk. The bedroom is furnished with a queen size bed. The dining area seats 4. While the bedroom and bathroom have not had recent updates, they are fully functional and meticulously clean.

Air conditioning in bedroom only. It is a portable air conditioner and is not intended to cool the whole the unit. It will work best if all bedroom doors are shut.

This is an upstairs condo so you need to be able to go up and down stairs. There are no elevators.

Great location for seeing the sights but the unit gets very hot. We tried everything to keep it cool. Thank goodness for the AC in the bedroom that’s where we stayed most of the time. The unit itself is dated but functional.

Condo dated - needs maintenance for safety issues like tub/shower grab bars (tub is large soaking type tub and difficult to step into); no smoke alarm in bedroom, A/C vent needs to be more secure in window opening or it comes loose and hot A/C exhaust blows into room; needs cleaning of bathroom vents, needs cleaning A/C filters BADLY ! Tub is slippery and no rubber mat provided; tub/toilet room light fixture does not appear to be working correctly - takes a long time to turn on and blinks repeatedly before steady light; toilet is not stable and rocks when sat upon; toilet lid is broken or needs tightening on right hinge; bath towels are small and flimsy; Unit does not really get breeze and gets very hot inside-A/C does not really cool bedroom during night. Location good; pool good; appliances work okay; note: extra charge for laundering more than 1 set towels per person!

The location’s great and the unit is spacious. However, it was SO hot, that it was impossible to enjoy it. We were supposed to cook our meals, but didn’t want to spend the time there. It says AC in the headline & the amenities list, but it’s only a small portable AC in the bedroom (with the heat coming back from the window). It actually says this on the text paragraph, I guess it’s my fault that I didn’t pay enough attention and trusted the headline/amenities list. It was so hot that we would have moved at our own cost but nothing was really available in Poipu area. Stayed at the end of July.

Nice stay at Poipu Beach

Everything was nice...however, the AC was not for the entire unit Just the bedroom), and the bedroom AC unit was not exhausting the hot air outside, rather the hot air was going into the room and making it hotter! It was close 90 degrees in there when we arrived at 7:45 PM. We fixed it so it sent the hot air outside, but this was not something we should have had to do.Unit was nice, though dated, but was in a great locatiion!

Convenient and well equipped.

The location is well located for exploring and easy to get in and out of, an important factor during busy times. It’s close the pool and an easy walk to Kalapaki Joe’s. The downside is the pool can get noisy in the evening until it closes at 10pm and the south facing lanai can get pretty hot during the day. All that said, after the sun goes down and the pool empties, it’s a real delight with a great view.

Room with a view

Our stay was wonderful. I love the Poipu Kai property. It was beautifully kept. Our room had a fantastic view and was a quick step to the pool, but the location was not ideal otherwise
close to main road and trash bins so kinda noisy. The room itself needs a complete clean of drapes and rugs and pillows. Also, the lanai furniture is pretty blah. Towels and linens need freshening as they are quite threadbare. The room is very dated in style and decor but functional. I would stay at Poipu Kai again but I would choose a room with a king bed (personal comfort) and further in from road.

Fabulous location! Walk to beach and restaurants. Condo is very spacious and the view is beautiful. The condo itself is in need of some maintenance and a few things are broken and nonfunctional . Regardless of the need for updating and checking to make sure everything is in working order we had a fantastic time and recommend this location

Nightmare condo

Filthy and disgusting is a mild way of stating it. Asked for someone to come out and look at property but they were too busy for the entire 3 weeks were there. We took several photos and would share them. The company and VRBO misrepresented the suite which needs a total reno!
