My second stay with this chain. Compact rooms with enough space under the bed to stow luggage. Laundromat with 4 coin operated washing machines and dryers, so timing laundry visits is important to get laundry done. Centrally located so access to other parts of Japan via the railway is easy and to other parts of Kyoto too. Happy to stay here again.

We were not big fans of the confusing check-in machines with abundant staff there to walk you through it. Why?? The staff themselves were great, but low scores on check-in process. Sento was a great feature for this conveniently located hotel. Don't recommend more than 2 people in a room as they are much smaller compared to U.S. standards; including a very tight cruise-ship-like bathroom.

Laundry was busy each time we used it, dryers need to be cleaned out of lint each time, otherwise it takes longer. Check-in was brutal, you have to type your information into a computer while the staff watches you do it and assists you if needed. I feel as though it would be way more efficient if there was an actual person to talk to. This was the first hotel where you had to use a computer to check in at during our time in Japan and it was the worst. Rooms are tiny, as is the washroom. Nice to have storage under the bed though. Likely wouldn’t stay at another APA again.

The staff was great and the rooms were clean. The room was very small! The bed was lifted, so you could store luggage underneath, which was nice. The location is very convenient and a quick walk to the Kyoto station.

My recent stay at the APA Hotel in Kyoto was fantastic! If you're looking for an incredibly convenient, clean, and comfortable base for exploring the city, this is it. The location alone makes this hotel a standout. Being just a short, easy walk from Kyoto Station meant all our transportation—Shinkansen, local trains, and buses—was right on our doorstep. We were able to start our sightseeing immediately without any hassle. The hotel itself was spotless. The room, while efficiently sized, was exceptionally clean and thoughtfully designed to maximize space. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the modern amenities, including the speedy free Wi-Fi and the great little soaking tub, made it a perfect retreat after a long day of exploring temples and gardens. Finally, the staff were consistently friendly and professional. Check-in and check-out were smooth and quick, and everyone we interacted with was helpful and polite. This level of service really elevates the whole experience. For a great-value stay that doesn't compromise on location or comfort in Kyoto, I highly recommend the APA Hotel. We'll definitely be staying here again on our next trip!
