The hotel is well located and the lobby and breakfast area is nice however I was very disappointed by the quality of the corridors and rooms. The white walls had extensive scuff marks and the corridor carpeting was stained and needed repair. The rooms are very small…the bathroom is well equipped but compact. The breakfast was excellent and worth it. More like a hostel than hotel.

I stayed at a traditional style room for 2 nights. The staff at the hotel is extremely friendly and polite. The hotel common areas are very gorgeous and cozy. The room itself was good, thought I saw some minor scratch marks on the walls. In itself it’s not a problem, but when staying in a traditional style room, the marks are more visible than usual. However it’s not a big deal, and the rest of the room is very comfortable. Also, breakfast buffet had some rush around 9am or so which wasn’t super relaxing, but not a big inconvenience either. I wasn’t there long enough to experience all the amenities, but I enjoyed the free sake and tea. Having a vending machine on my floor was also very convenient. The neighborhood is also gorgeous, and very safe, with multiple historical temples close by.

A very good base to explore Kyoto

A very nice quiet place to stay in Kyoto a short bus ride from the station and with good connections to the main sights. The modern rooms are comfortable and well equipped and the staff helpful. The breakfast buffet is excellent with very good coffee and lots of delicious local delicacies and the large seating area is available to bring in your own food with free coffee, soft drinks and miso soup on tap all afternoon and evening.

Nicely decorated hotel

Nice hotel with boutique style decorations. Good size room. Loved the modern touches, digital check-in, light switches, etc. Bonus to have light refreshments throughout the day like juices, teas, coffee, and sake with snacks. The 3 washing machines in the laundry room was added benefit.

Amazing buffet breakfast! A great selection of local options and more standard fare. Free coffee, cold drinks and snacks in the afternoon and evening (inc Sake). Staff are unobtrusive, friendly and helpful. Join Club Oriental for a late check-out and free bicycle hire.
