Clean, spacious room and friendly staff!

I would stay in this hotel again if I visit Kyoto. The reception staff were extremely nice and helpful. When I lost my watch in a bus, they called around to help me find it. (And I did find it, bless them!) The hotel also held a free sake tasting event. It was a nice cultural experience and we got to talk to the staff. The hotel is literally 1-3 min walk away from the Karasuma station & bus stop which is connected to all the major stations and bus stops. I could easily get to places. You can also rent a bicycle from the hotel for 1000 yen and use it for a day. There are some great bicycle lanes in Kyoto and we very much enjoyed riding. The room was much more spacious than the other hotels we visited. It's pretty hard to find a spacious room for this kind of price in Japan. The bathroom basin was in the kitchen area which we thought was a bit weird, but it didn't affect anything. The room also came with a free smartphone with unlimited calls & data. We had limited data on our personal phones so this smartphone was very handy for us. We used it to look for directions, find restaurants, etc.

Really good value and a comfortable stay in Kyoto.

I would definitely stay here again, the staff are super friendly and speak english. Also you can rent a bike from them and explore Kyoto which I highly recommend. The rooms are very large for Japan, they are more a suite than a hotel room. They have a small kitchen area, clothes washer and outside patio. The Wifi was super fast and reliable. I think the only negative for my stay was the patio, it was very dusty and there were cigarette butts.

Near the station, so you don’t have to walk too much after a long day. The room is sizeable, larger than expected and clean. The bed is a sofa bed, but is big and there’s no lack of space.

Good place but a little far from key sites

The location is central but not too near where the key tourist attractions are. The people were very kind and nice perfect I love them . The room is clean but it can get noisy because it is very closed to a highway. Shower is odd with water too sensitive to push and there are too many rules. Also check out time at 10 am is way too early.

Worst "hotel"

This is not an hotel, but a private-room hostel. The room has a pullout couch instead of a bed, who was extremely uncomfortable. We stayed there for 5 nights and still the staff asked us to pay for clean towels (and of course didn't change the sheets during our stay there). There was no cleaning services in the room, not even for taking the garbage out. Also, they did not have the payed service of sending luggage to the next destination (a basic service in Japan). Would not go back or recommend at all, although the location is near a subway so it's a good spot to travel kyoto.

Good Studio unit with a fold-out bed

Rejoice Stay Hotel provides studio units with a foldout bed and stovetop/microwave/refrigerator/washing machine. The foldout bed with futon was comfortable. The Japanese style deep tub with hand-held shower was very awkward. This hotel provides no services. The room is not cleaned daily and towels are not replaced. But it is close to a subway station with direct access in just a few minutes to Kyoto Station and the neighborhood has many restaurants. Also, it is a 25-munite walk to the Imperial Palace and a similar time to walk downtown or to Gion. If you are aware beforehand of the limitations of the hotel it is a good place to stay. For us the washing machine in the room and coin dryer in the lobby was a real plus.

Decent hotel in a great area

Decent and clean apartment. Annoying that there are no cooking or eating utensils in the room and you have to get them from reception. The area is amazing and we walked everywhere- close to the palace and castle. Huge range of shops and restaurants in the area.

The rooms were nice, it was in a good location to the subway system. The pull out mattress was more comfortable than some of the stiffer rooms in Japan. Only issue i had is they started doing construction in rooms at 9 am until around 2 pm without any warning signs.

A comfy stay close to the train station

Good sized room in a small hotel. Comfy bed and very clean. Best thing for us was an easy 5 min walk to the train station. Also easy access to sights. Only quirky aspect was the music in the corridor (albeit soft) that played all night. Staff was friendly. Will stay again.
