Oceanfront Landmark House downstair next to the beach Panoramic Ocean Views!

An La Jolla village oceanfront landmark home downstair designed by a renowned architect, recently remodeled with upgraded windows and new flooring (May 2025). Ideally located next to the iconic La Jolla Cove, this rent only downstair part is just steps from restaurants, museums, beaches, galleries, and shops in La Jolla Village—arguably the best location in La Jolla.

This unique property is divided into two fully independent parts, each with its own entrance and privacy. The only shared spaces are the garage, laundry room (with one washer and two dryers), and central A/C control. Each part has one garage space suitable for a standard vehicle or SUV. Both can be booked together—perfect for family reunions or small weddings. The upstairs unit (Unit 2) can be found under VRBO ID: 2786466.

To reduce noise, soundproofing materials and new flooring have been added to the upstairs unit. Please note: parties are not allowed unless upper stair is vacant.

Since this is an older oceanfront house , it may have ocean smell. When you open the window, smell will gone. It is landmark house, but sound approve is not that great, you may hear the upper stair noise and laundry noise.

Due to the ocean braze, the patios may not be cleaned as you expected even we clean it.

Being right on the ocean, you’ll enjoy fresh sea air and the soothing sound of waves. This isn’t a luxury five-star hotel, but you can cook, grill, and dine with stunning ocean views—an experience hotels can’t match.

About Downstairs part:
This lower-level of the house has exclusive use of the main entrance and includes:
‱ A spacious living room with a futon bed
‱ A kitchen and dining room
‱ A large master bedroom (Bedroom 1) with a king bed, full en-suite bath, a connected den with a futon sofa bed, and access to a private ocean-view deck with BBQ
‱ Bedroom 2 with a king bed and ocean-view balcony
‱. A small room (hallway with lockable doors on each side) with two twin beds, ideal for kids, facing the side yard

- [ ] ‱ A 7’ x 9’ den attached to the master bedroom, featuring windows with ocean views. Furnished with a double futon bed, it’s ideal for children or a single guest.

The location was unparalleled. The property was extremely nice. The beds and pillows were great. They had maintenance there almost daily to work on a very nice electric toilet. For the cost, I would have expected better pots and pans and utensils to cook with. People who stay for a few days want to cook onsite. The skillet was unacceptable.

The beach house was perfect for our trip to La Jolla! The house had every possible thing we needed: extra towels, appliances, serving trays, beach accessories, and space for all! The beds, bedding, and pillows were perfect and we were all very comfortable. The location was amazing.... just steps from the ocean, and a brisk walk to a delicious brunch at The Kitchen at the museum. The host was so gracious, accommodating, and very quick with responding. We will have to stay here again soon.

Fabulous location and wonderful stay

We loved our stay in this fabulous location right along the water. The comfortable three bedrooms (one small) worked well for our group of five. We enjoyed making coffee in the kitchen, sitting inside or at the round outdoor table, and looking out over the ocean. It was also a great place to walk to La Jolla Cove, shops and restaurants downtown or other locations along the water. Really a wonderful place

Wow - this property exceeded all our expectations! The location cannot be beat - all-in-all it was the best home in we've ever stayed. Its outdoor areas and inside views are breathtaking, offering expansive water views and the serene sounds of waves, which photos simply cannot do justice. During mornings and evenings on the deck, we enjoyed listening to the sounds of birds and crashing waves while watching the lively scenery—a flawless setting for our unforgettable family vacation. The house itself leaves nothing to be desired, equipped with every conceivable luxury. Its location is ideal, only a short stroll from the beach and local attractions including top-notch recreation spots, excellent dining, and quaint boutiques. Every corner of the home, inside and out, is meticulously crafted and maintained to ensure maximum comfort and relaxation! Our host, Simon, was a joy to interact with—warm, attentive, and exceptionally responsive. He swiftly addressed any inquiries we had, enhancing our stay with his commitment to guest comfort and meticulous attention to detail. This property is truly unique, and after our experience, it's difficult to consider staying anywhere else. We even extended our stay and reluctantly left only because we had to. We highly recommend this home for anyone seeking a memorable and genuinely relaxing vacation. We are certainly planning to return!

I want to start by saying that is one of the best beach houses I have ever stayed at. It has all the amenities needed to make you feel at home. The view of the ocean is breathtaking and the whole house is spotless. 10/10 would recommend!!

What a great house to rent for the week! Pretty much fully stocked. Kitchen had all the utinsils you could think of. Fully stocked bathrooms and lots of towels. Beds were all super comfortable. You absolutely cannot beat the view. We will definitely be booking again. The rooms have some weird configurations but it's totally doable. The master is wonderful with its own private patio and full bathroom. Second bedroom has an incredible view via windows and another small patio looking over the ocean. Other rooms are a small converted closet or office maybe with a single twin but the view is stunning. There's another very small room with two twin beds and no room for much more. It connects to to a shared laundry for the upstairs apartment. I would recommend taking the upstairs unit also and we will try to do so next time also. There were people above us walking around like elephants with the TV on super loud. Def not the owners fault but the upstairs unit is very loud, you can hear everything. The parking garage is tight and I would recommend to the owners just designating a side to each rental to prevent confusion when the units are both rented. It will fit two small SUV if you don't mind being tight. I'd also recommend another big and comfortable couch in the living room if possible. It isn't super comfortable and I think we would have spent more time there had there been more comfortable furniture in that room. Almost every room has a gorgeous view. We will be back soon!

The house was in a beautiful location! Can't beat the walkability and the view! Plenty of room for our family. The owner was very prompt at responding to messages! Like other reviews mentioned, the garage was small but it does fit a small crossover SVU (probably not a van or any 3 row car...).

Perfect location!

The location of this house couldn't be more incredible! Walking distance to snorkle/dive with sea lions and many other fun activities. Plenty of delicious food options nearby. The house was very nice, plenty of room, nice kitchen, laundry room and the parking in the garage is plenty big for a normal sized car. There was a problem with the gas when we first arrived but the owner showed up immediately, had it fixed in no time and was very pleasant to work with. If you like a softer mattress note that the beds are quite firm but if you like that then they're perfect. It was so nice to be able to just step outside and watch the sun set over the ocean. We enjoyed watching the surfers in the mornings and one morning even watched as a pod of dolphins played behind them. This house was a wonderful experience and we would definitely return.

Women's Retreat

We enjoyed a weekend stay at this beautiful home. It was peaceful. The ocean views from all of the balconies are just amazing. The sounds of the waves crashing at night were like a natural soundscape. And you get the most beautiful sunset over the ocean views from the master bedroom patios. We had all the privacy we needed with quick access to all the shops we needed. Just amazing.

Awesome View

View from the house overlooking the ocean is very nice. Every room has an ocean view. The owner is very nice and prompt with answering our inquiries and requests. Since there was nobody checked in prior to our dates, Simon (owner) let us check in as early as 10 am. My wife and her friends enjoyed staying at the patio and just enjoying the view. I highly recommend this place, either to celebrate a special occasion or just wanting to relax.
