You’re halfway there to one of the best experiences you will ever have in the Coachella Valley. As you drive through the cove, you will find it hard to concentrate on finding the house because of the mesmerizing mountain views in absolutely every direction. Not a box store in sight, but charming little one-off restaurants and shops are a stone's throw from the house.
It’s located in an historic neighborhood, though it’s so family-friendly and “Spanish contemporary” that you might not notice it right away. This sweet little ‘hood has been a hideaway since the 1930s when ranchers, speculators, and Tinsel Town road-trippers found the spot and started building.There’s a clean, modern-yet-rustic intimacy about the place, as if you’re in the middle of nowhere. There’s water. There’s sun. There’s ocotillo and bougainvillea and hummingbirds. You feel like you’ve walked into a modernista version of a Gabriel Garcia Marquez novel.
The house! This lovely modern adobe has all of the appointments of a time gone by. The kiva fireplace in the living room, the high ceilings, gorgeous floors. There are so many nooks and crannies for curling up with a great book or just staring out the windows at the mountains or the swaying palms. The bright, open feel of the common area contrasts perfectly with the snug perfection of the bedrooms and baths. After an incredibly good night's sleep in a bed you won’t want to leave, open the French doors and let the birds serenade you awake. Every domestic need has been carefully met. Hikers or mountain bikers will love the extensive Bear Creek Trail network within easy walk from the house.
The Coachella Valley is best accessed with your own car. Uber and Lyft are also available for short trips.
