Our stay near la Tessouale was great! Checking in was good, but we quickly saw that the advertised 7 rooms are really 4 rooms, a vide ("inhouse balcony") and a lower portion of the living room with a sleeping couch. For our party of 10 including 3 kids and a baby it was okay, but for a larger party this could be problematic. One room has a double bed and another "room" with 4 beds behind a curtain (more of a family room) and the vide can only be reached with a staircase that is unsuitable for kids or elderly. It's true that 15 people can stay here, but more clear pictures of the rooms and the layout would be nice. The house is an interesting mix of styles, mostly well maintained and clean (some debris in the corner, spiderwebs in the roof en scaling in the taps, all minor issues). The kitchen has some great facilities and all required appliances are available, but for a large party a maximum of 2 pots can be on the stove at once. The grill outside helped out a lot and is in a convenient spot where there is shade later in the day.The best part of the house is the outside dining area with its huge table and many chairs, overlooking the amazing garden and pool! The pool is big, non-chlorinated and heated to 28 degrees. The garden is on a hill with some very large and beautiful trees. Also, the hot-tub is very nice! The contact with Herve (the concierge) and Arnaud (the owner) is quick and decisive. We had a great stay in la Tessouale and would recommend!
When we arrived at Chotelle we were greeted by Herve the concierge who took us around the property proving all the information we needed to know. We were all open mouthed when we stepped in the main entrance. The photos on the website did not do it justice.La Chotelle is a glorious place to stay with plenty of amenities to keep young and old happy. The description of bedrooms arrangements however need to have better descriptions and information. The unsteady spiral staircase made one bedroom unusable as no one felt happy with the access. The master bedroom bed was too low and not suitable for the older members of the group. The mezzanine bedroom spaces did not provide the privacy for 2 families so again lost bed space. The pool and gardens were amazing and the house was closed to villages, town and eateries which were great to explore.Arnaud was super attentive and responded immediately to any questions we had during our stay. I would recommend a video walkthrough be added to the website so you could get a sense of the size and layout of the property. All in all I would highly recommend this property, thank you Arnaud and Herve
This was to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, and we invited 6 couples for the 1st 2 weeks, and our family, son and daughter, with their wife / husband, and our 4 grandchildren, for the 2nd 2 weeks.
We all enjoyed the large open plan house, dining both outdoors and indoors (indoors only 2-3 times), the large pool and gardens, and the ladies enjoyed the hot tub. The BBQ was also excellent. The 2 large fridge freezers allowed lots of space for stocking up on food and drink. Plenty of hot water for showers. Good Wi-Fi inside and outside the house, and very large indoor space for all to enjoy.
We've suggested to the owner that the 7 bedrooms should be better described. The mezzanine is only accessible by the spiral staircase, not suitable for older or very young guests, and the upstairs 2 bedrooms is better described as a very large family area sleeping 5 + child's cot.
We had an excellent 4 weeks, and our thanks to the owner.
