River Valley Cabin

Thornwood is an exclusively private 9 acre estate located in the heart of "God's Country" in Lansing,  Iowa. The Thornwood Estate offers beautiful scenery and provides the best nature-filled escape. It is located just 4 miles from the Mississippi River. This property features 3 separate buildings that can be rented for everyone to enjoy together while allowing for ample spacing. Short walking trails are also located around the property for your enjoyment. The Thornwood Estate would be a great secluded event venue for a small wedding celebration or a family reunion. 
The main house is beautifully appointed with custom oak cabinets and accents with impeccably detailed woodwork. The main house offers 3 spacious master bedrooms, all with gorgeous views of the landscape. 2 separate loft rooms are found on the 3rd floor in the main house that will allow for more beds to compliment your stay. This property is perfectly equipped with everything you need to feel at home during your stay; kitchen pots/pans/utensils, fresh linens, brand-new flat screen TVs in the living area spaces, as well as a washing/drying machine. 
There is also a cabin that is also available to rent, with an additional charge. NOTE: There may be guests also staying at that cabin, at the same time of your stay.

Thornwood cabin is a beautifully wood-crafted space that is easily accessible from the main driveway. This cabin offers a small living area, equipped with a small kitchen, as well as a loft that includes a queen-sized bed. It provides a private space within very close proximity to the main living quarters.

Had a great Christmas away from home. A place to drag all the kids and their spouses away from everything else going on around the holidays. The place is large, lots of room to spread out, large kitchen for bigger groups. The bed I slept in was pretty comfortable and overall a comfortable place. Kitchen was very well appointed, probably more than most places we've stayed. Only 7 minutes from downtown Lansing so easy to pop over and grab dinner, drinks or groceries. We took the ferry across to Wisconsin to see the activities happening on the river.

I want to thank Jane & John for hosting my friends and family. This place is spacious, clean, and warming. The scenery is awesome as well. The check in to the check out process was smooth. Everything was accommodated well and Jane is responsive! I recommend this place to anyone who is staying in the area with a bigger party.

One of the cleanest VRBOs we have ever stayed in!! Plenty of room for everyone. The little ones loved the large front yard and we could watch them from the balcony porch. The loft space was their favorite spot! Lots of things to do in the surrounding towns. We LOVED this place!

Wonderful spot!

We rented the property to host an anniversary dinner and have a space for friends and family to gather. We couldn't have been happier. The property is beautiful, well maintained and easy to access. Communication was excellent.

The large cabin is beautiful! Bathroom on every floor definitely was a plus. Cousins Weekend

This was a great place for us to have our cousins weekend! The cottage was a great size for our group, we had plenty of room. Definitely could host a large family or friends weekend. We enjoyed the dry creek bed and the surrounding paths. Only thing I wpuld suggest is a step stool for us short people. Highly recommend a stay!

Great place to stay!

We stayed at Jane and John’s place for my parents 50th. We really enjoyed the house! Plenty of room for our group of 11. Owners were very helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. Would highly recommend to bigger groups wanting to explore the Mississippi River and surrounding area!!

If you are looking for a family get away or a place to meet up with friends for the weekend, this is the place! The owners were so accommodating to everyone and they were so easy to get ahold of! Perfect stay for multi-family gathering

We had a group of 10 adults and 1 teenager and it was the perfect house for our gathering. The house is 3 floors with plenty of beds and rooms for all of us. There was an area on the third floor for the young adults to play games. The house was spotless and had everything we could need. I would highly recommend this house for large family gatherings.

Clean fun stay

Really liked this place and property. Plenty of beds for everyone and well equipped kitchen. Clean and lots of bedding and blankets. Only small challenge was a slow dishwasher and the request to have all dishes clean dry and put away before checkout. Would prefer to start a dishwasher load just before checking out.
