Just beautiful

What a unique apartment! We loved everything. The host Simone was wonderful. The private garden was a gem. Short drive to Lucca, Pisa. One little thing we have to mention is: drive a small car. The way up to the apartment is very narrow.

Excellent location and accommodation

Happy to recommend Simona's property. An excellent location as a base to visit the surrounding area and beyond...and just to walk out of the door and enjoy walks in the immediate locality. A very comfortable apartment to return to and spend time in... it's a great location in Aquilea. Supermarket close by... and a ' negozio alimentari' and bar in Aquilea ( unfortunately the owners went on holiday the day I arrived, so cannot comment further ). Simona is very helpful re local information and potential sightseeing.

Nice apartment, nice host.

Had a great week here, it's a bit "up a hill", but it's a very nice village, and not far from a very decent supermarket, and there is a very local shop also. The host was very helpful and nice.

This house in the Aquilea village is a gem!

First of all, Simona is a super professional and a great person. The village is very cute and everybody that you cross on the street is very friendly. Very soon you feel as part of the community. Don't miss the Friday pizza, 50 meters from the house. You need to go there and order a few hours in advance. The stone house has been restored with a lot of taste and comfort. I loved to sleep looking at the wood beam ceiling! The white stone kitchen sink is a special touch. The house has all the basics you need. The private garden is very charming and has a original stone and brick chicken coop, now turned into a shed. The table and chairs are super comfortable to read or to have the meals. In the back there is a BBC. Aquilea is a few kilometers from a excelent supermarket, a laundry, and from Luca, a beautiful historic town. My recommendation is to drive slow and blow the horn on the curves on the way to the village, about 2 km. Otherwise, no big deal. I love Simona's house and we wish we would've stayed there more days.

This is an excellent property if you want the true Tuscan experience. Highly recommended.

A beautiful apartment and welcoming host. We hired bikes - but most people would certainly need a car. It is in a stunning location with typical local bar/shop close by. A perfect destination.

Great stay at Simona's apartment

Well positioned for what we wanted to see during the week we were there. We did Cinque Terre, Pisa and Florence and could reach each one easily by car or by train. The apartment was simple yet met our needs. We have a tendency to eat in so we used the kitchen often and found most of the items we needed to cook with. Bed and furniture were comfortable. The internet worked well for everyday browsing and surfing. We did not try and stream anything so can't answer about that. TV worked well and we were able to find some reruns in English. Friday night town pizza was fun . . . a young couple makes pizzas for the community of Aguilea and charges a minimal amount for them. They were cooked in a wood fired oven and were excellent. If you're in to hiking there are plenty right out the door in the country side. Our stay with Simona was a pleasant one.

Peaceful, idyllic stay

This was a very nice and peaceful village, straight out of story books! The house was clean and had everything we needed to be comfortable, including a modern bathroom. Simona was very helpful (we reached very late and she very graciously stayed up to meet us, give us directions and then show us around). She also had great tips on going to nearby places. We had wanted a quiet time in Tuscany, and we certainly got it! Thank you, Simona!

Beautiful cottage in a lovely area

We very much enjoyed our stay in Simona's lovely cottage in this beautiful area just outside of Lucca. The cottage has been lovingly restored to a very high standard and lacks nothing for an enjoyable holiday. It is ideally situated for visiting the surrounding area and the cities of Lucca,Pistoia, Florence and Pisa and the wonderful surrounding hill villages. Simonia was always on hand with advice on the area and the best way to get about, and the cottage had a wealth of information to assist as well. Thank you Alfredo for the lovely home made pasta and for helping us to source local Olive Oil and Honey.

We loved our stay in the country!

My wife and I enjoyed our 5 days in Aquilea. It’s a peaceful little village in the hills but only 15 minute drive into Lucca and everything you need. Simona and her family live in the adjoining unit, she was there to greet us and was very helpful and pleasant. A vehicle is highly recommended but that also allows you to make day trips to Florence, Pisa and Cinque Terre along the coast. Thanks Simona, Heather and I had a wonderful stay!

An opportunity to try a different part of Tuscany

We received warm friendly welcome from the helpful owner. The property is attractively decorated with an interesting fusion of modern furnishing and quaint antiques and relics. We enjoyed the opportunity to relax in the garden which is a hillside olive grove with lovely views over the hills and plain. The location, just north of Lucca gave us opportunity to explore the relatively unknown Apuan Alps of North Tuscany. The attractive wooded hills and valleys contrast with the cultivated Tuscany further south. Lucca, Viareggio and Pisa are relatively close by, so staying here allowed the best of town and country and seaside.

Really nice apartment with friendly hosts next door - looked after us and made us feel very welcome, even providing a glass of local Tuscan wine and food one evening. The building is lovely with old stone walls, nice and cool inside even in July, we loved it.

De accommodatie lag hoog in het dorp, met onze auto (SUV), beetje spannend om er te komen. De ontvangst was heel hartelijk, de eigenaresse sprak goed Engels, en was goed bereikbaar via whats-app. Binnen stond een fles wijn, met glazen waarop stond 'Best Friends", als ontvangst en bij vertrek kregen we een flesje zelfgemaakte olijfolie mee. Wij hebben een fantastische fietsroute gevonden naar Lucca op, jawel: een fietspad, gescheiden van de rijweg. Verder was het uitzicht prachtig.

Simona, the host, is a nice, friendly, always helpfull person. If you need something or get any tips where to go or where to eat, she will always help, suggest something or find a solution.It was a lovely stay for us, because we wanted a quiet place, not in the city. But you are close to a lot of cities and to the beach, the region is awsome. We were lucky to experience the sagra della zuppa during our stay, very unique - we had special food and a nice party at night ;)we really enjoyed our stay!

Fijn huis in leuk gehucht

We hadden heerlijke dagen in dit fijne huis waar het ondanks de hitte overdag ‘s nachts heel goed te doen was. Uitstapjes gemaakt: gezwommen in zee en in de rivier en natuurlijk Lucca en andere plaatsen bezocht. Simona is een fijne gastvrouw met wie de communicatie prima verliep!
