Conveniently located , Italy and only 12 km (8 mi) from Lucca. Holiday home Macennere is a lovely stone building (250 sq m) that includes private pool and WiFi internet. The property can accommodate up to ten guests comfortably in five bedrooms with four bathrooms. There is a golf course nearby if you'd like to get in a round or two while on holiday.
The Experience
Upon arrival at Macennere you’ll find a lovely clean well-maintained property with views of the hills perfect for a splendid holiday in Tuscany. For your enjoyment you will find a private pool where you can unwind while enjoying a nice cold beverage after a hectic day of visiting museums. Also available outside are a patio and barbecue grill. If you enjoy cooking for family and friends there is a well-equipped kitchen including coffee machine, toaster, stove and refrigerator, as well as, plenty of tableware and cutlery for up to ten people. If you prefer to dine 'al fresco', there is a fully furnished veranda where you can enjoy the weather while dining outdoors.

The house and property are absolutely stunning! The grounds are beautiful and well manicured. The bedrooms and bathrooms are all very nice, and there is a perfect variety of indoor and outdoor spaces to eat, read a book, enjoy a glass/bottle of wine and relax. We spent a lot of time by the pool and it is a spectacular setting.
As others have mentioned, the driveway is an adventure, but after the first time we found it to be fun.
While the house was amazing, there were a few things that didn't work well for our group/family. Despite making a reservation for 12 (6 adults/6 kids) and providing names, ages and passport numbers, they were only expecting 10 and charged us extra. After sorting that out, we were greeted with tour of house and told of the things we and the kids should not do. We were then shown a large binder of rules that were sometime conflicting with our tour of rules (the house manager said we absolutely could not go in the garden while the book said it should be enjoyed). This set a tone upon arrival that caused a bit of stress within the group.
The last thing to be aware of is the constant care of the property, as the house manager starts cleaning and vacuuming around 7:30am, and there are regularly gardeners and grounds people maintaining the property so it's not always quiet or private.
Ultimately, despite the things mentioned above, we had an amazing time both in Lucca and the surrounding area and at the house. The setting is idyllic, the house is beautiful, and the pool is amazing.

The house at Macennere is spectacular - intentionally rustic, totally comfortable and charming . . . and we could have stayed forever. The driveway is a bit intimidating, but worth the trip. The grounds of the house are equally spectacular. We were content to spend the evenings at the house preparing dinners that included fresh produce from the gardens and fruit trees. The kitchen has everything we needed (including a pasta maker) and the wood burning outdoor grill worked wonders. Bedrooms are large and the beds very comfortable with plenty of privacy for our group of 3 couples, a single and 2 teens. The location in the hills was just what we wanted - - very much away from everything. I hope we will be able to return some day!!

Das Ferienhaus hat unsere Erwartungen übertroffen. Wir waren uns einig, daß dies das schönste und am liebevollsten eingerichte Haus war, in dem wir bis jetzt waren. Alles bis ins letzte Detail gestylt, aber doch wohnlich. Individuell mit allen Küchenutensilien, wie sie vorhanden sind, wenn der Besitzer darin selber wohnt. Aufteilung der Schlafzimmer fast gleichwertig mit liebevollen Bädern. Mit eigenem Gemüsegarten zur Benutzung und liebevoller Betreung durch 2 Gärtner und Putzfrau. Man darf sich allerdings nicht durch die Zufahrt schrecken lassen, die doch ziemlich zeitaufwändig ist. Diese Abgeschiedenheit macht natürlich auch den besonderen Reiz aus, glaubt man doch in seiner eigenen Welt zu sein. Für große Besichtigungstouren ist die Anfahrt eher abschreckend, was für uns kein Problem war...... slow down!! Haben abseits der ausgetretenen Pfade eine Wanderung am Rande bzw. drch. die Steinbrüche von Carrara unternohmen. Mit klapprigen Bus von Carrara nach Trano und zu Fuß über die Berge zurück nach Carrara.

The villa is beautifully located on a hill and while you sit on the terrace, enjoying a drink or your dinner you have a stunning view of the Tuscan hills and you overlook the lovely swimming pool area.
