Secluded Cottage on 10 Acres. Close to Shen. Natl. Park and Luray Caverns
Old Mine Cottage is outfitted with quite a few amenities that will make your stay very enjoyable! A 5 person hot tub is always a hit with younger and older guests alike, and for a perfectly relaxing experience, the outdoor fire pit is a great place to unwind after a day of sightseeing, golfing, or however you choose to spend your time in Luray! The kitchen is beautifully designed and comes complete with every appliance needed, including a dishwasher. There is a washer and dryer on site as well for those who wish to use them. Every few hours the train comes through, and the property is just the right distance from the tracks for it to be charming. There is a brand new TV in the living room, with a DirecTV package, and a DVD player. The inside of the cottage has a very rustic feel to it. Everything is completely new, but was carefully crafted to feel very comfortable and unique. The property sits at a convenient location to get to, with only a 10 minute drive to nearly everything you could need to do.
This place never disappoints! Itâs always clean and ready when we arrive. It has land for us and the dogs to roam, yet minutes from grocery stores and quaint downtown shops/dining. We love the hot tub and fire pit. This was probably the 4th time weâve stayed here; never had a complaint!
It was a great stay, lovely property with gorgeous views of the surrounding fields, amazing sunset views from the front porch, and not a neighbor in sight. The hot tub and fire ring were welcome features to end our days with. Proximity to main roads, Luray Caverns, and Shenandoah was a huge plus. Rating 5 stars because everything was exactly as advertised and the property was very clean with updated fixtures. We could have done with a more comfy couch and maybe a smart tv, but understand rural internet can be challenging. Thanks for the great stay!
Its very private with lots of lawn to do whatever, The fire pit was nice, The hot tub is Awesome with the view of the mountain, The interior is very clean and welcoming, The furniture isn't very comfortable but i kinda like that, It fit the old style feel, Id definitely stay again. My Dog enjoyed sniffing all the new sniffies on the property.
Very cute property and home. Our stay was comfortable and hosts were responsive. There are train tracks nearby, but we didn't get woken up in the night by passing trains. Bathroom was very clean and there were plenty of towels for bath/shower/hot tub.
The location was great. Easy access to Shenandoah Park and to Luray. The cottage was very clean. Wonderful to sit on the front porch and watch sun set. The host was on top of anything that was need. Would definitely stay again.
My partner and I truly enjoyed the accommodations offered however, we believe that the front door and side door leading to the patio need covering from curious on-lookers or for a feeling of more security. The same consideration should be extended to the window in the kitchen and bathroom.
The clear visibility of the interior of the house from these areas should be an option of the occupants NOT an expected one of the owner.
**Keith and I had to cover these areas in order to feel a level of privacy and security.
Thank you.
We hiked and attended the fall festival in Luray
The home was so inviting and we hot tubbed every night. Very comfortable and had all the comforts of home.
Iâd recommend this place for a small family too
We never used the upstairs đ
Overall the house was acceptable. It was clean and had the amenities as listed on the site. There was water leaking from the ceiling of the family room the entire stay. The water pressure in the bathroom made it difficult to even wash your hands at the sink or take a shower. The house worked for us, since we spent most of our time hiking, but the issues we had would prevent us from booking again or recommending this house to others.
This property was everything that they stated it was on the verbal app. If you're looking for a secluded place to stay this is definitely the place to go"

A beautifully renovated home with country charm in an amazing setting. The Blue Ridge Mountains in full view from the covered front porch, the sun setting over the mountains, the train rattling down the tracks and the fireflies over the fields made for the perfect stay in Luray. The beds are very comfortable, the bedrooms are tastefully decorated, the bathroom is renovated and the kitchen is well-furnished. Darling farm house! Look forward to staying here again.
Loved the locationâŠprivacy, spacious.
Charmingly decorated with all needs met.
Hosts is readily available and accommodating.
Close to so many âtreasuresâ⊠Luray Caverns for all you physical science thrill seekers, Skyline Drive for all you scenic hikers, plenty of charming shops, breweries/wineries, with the small town charm of Mayberry.
Fabulous family setting.
Highly recommend!
We loved the property! It was the perfect weekend getaway for us. Nice and quiet and had all the amenities we could possibly want. Host was immensely gracious and fast to respond to any questions we had before arrival. We will definitely return!
I had the most blissful, relaxing stay. The house is charming, comfortable, and well taken care of. The pictures on the website don't do it justice. My pups loved the wide open yard and we all enjoyed the front porch. It would have been perfect if the front porch had rockers or a porch swing, but it was great anyway. We used the firepit and hot tub each night. It was a short drive to Luray, but the quietness that we experienced at this home was amazing. There were many moments when the only sound was the wild turkey gobbles or the whippoorwill singing. The nearby train crossing added to the experience and I loved it all. I am an airplane geek, and this home was on the pathway to Dulles or Reagan International. I spent hours each night watching the planes turn on their landing lights as they cleared the mountain range. I know, I'm a nerd, but it was wonderful. I hope to make this a yearly spring getaway.
The cottage was an ideal basecamp for exploring Luray and the Shenandoah Valley parks. Close enough to get to stores and restaurants but still feels away from anyone else. I can't recommend this house enough - will be looking for an opportunity to return.
This property is well worth the stay. My family and I stayed twice in 2023. We will be straying at least two more times in 2024! It is well worth the money.
Spent the long weekend at this wonderful place for my burthday. We absolutely loved it!! It was close to town and the hot tub was the best part!!! We will definitely go back for another stay.
