N'y allez pas!

Tout d'abord, Ă  l'arrivĂ©e nous avons dĂ» appeler pour avoir le code de la porte d'entrĂ©e. AprĂšs nous avons bien trouvĂ© les clefs dans la boĂźte. Quelle arrivĂ©e Ă©pouvantable decouvrant un appartement humide et dans un couloir de passage sans vĂ©ritable fenĂȘtre sauf une toute petite dans le salon et une autre dans la chambre sans vĂ©ritable accĂšs, puisque parler de "chambre" serait un euphĂ©misme ! Nous avons immĂ©diatement envoyĂ© un mail aux gĂ©rants qui ont rĂ©pondu rapidement proposant, suite aux diffĂ©rentes photos envoyĂ©es des dalles cassĂ©es dans la salle de bain, des plinthes dĂ©foncĂ©es, sales, la porte d'entrĂ©e rongĂ©e par l'humiditĂ©, pas d'amoire, le semblant de mini penderie dĂ©tachĂ©e du mur auquel elle aurait dĂ» ĂȘtre scellĂ©e, le mur de la chambre dĂ©crĂ©pit, etc., de venir "rĂ©parer" cela pendant notre sĂ©jour. Vous imaginez bien que nous avions mieux Ă  faire que d'attendre un pseudo arrangement, je ne sais comment, de tous les problĂšmes sus citĂ©s. VoilĂ , en somme, quelques points bien dĂ©sagrĂ©ables auxquels nous avons dĂ» faire face lors de notre sĂ©jour.

Not So Charming

My wife and I have been travelling internationally for over 50 years. We have never been more disppointed with any of our accomodations as we were with the "Charming Santa Isabela" property. The written description and the photos on the website are incredibly misleading. Unless all of the lights are on, as they are in the photos, there is no natural light in the unit at all, unless you leave the door open. There are only three small windows in the unit that open on to an enclosed dark and not so pleasant smelling "patio." When we opened the door to the unit, were were overcome by the strong smell of sewage that permeated the unit. No amount of cleaning anything would have eliminated that odor. The written description of the unit mentions enjoying the "nightlife" of the area. One picture that was not included in the photo gallery online was a picture of the very large sign posted by the door that warns people, in Spanish and English, not to open the door at night to anyone unless given permission by email from the rental agency. It is obviously not a neighborhood that invites people to safely enjoy the nightlife. Nor does the warning make you feel comfortable with the need to leave the door open to get any natural light or fresh air into the unit. We did not stay in the unit. When the rental agency refused our request to find us another, more acceptable space, regardless of the price, we found our own accomodations elsewhere.

Die Wohnung ist feucht und muffig, kaum Tageslicht. Große schwarze SchimmelflĂ€che an der Wand hinter dem Bett. Kaum Grundausstattung, 2 fette Kakerlaken gesichtet und gekillt.Kein persönlicher Empfang, keine Info ĂŒber Funktionsweise der air condition, elektrischen GerĂ€te, MĂŒllentsorgungssymbol etc. Nur 1 SchlĂŒssel fĂŒr 2 Personen. HaustĂŒr lĂ€sst sich nur mit Internet (Roaming) öffnen. Also immer fĂŒr ausreichend Akku sorgen! FĂŒr die Schlafcouch fehlen Laken und Decken. Insgesamt eine Katastrophe und fĂŒr 2 Personen definitiv zu eng, wenig Stauraum kein Kleiderschrank. Die Spiegel an den WĂ€nden tĂ€uschen nur GrĂ¶ĂŸe vor

Disappointing

This unit has a good location, it is clean looking, the bed is comfortable, the plumbing and electricity work well, and there are plenty of outlets. But with this said, we cannot recommend staying here. We were promised 2 keys for 2 people but only given one. The windows have no screens (bugs outside). The bathroom door continually slides open leaving no privacy. The floor is dirty, don’t walk without shoes. The couch is the only place to put down and open a suitcase leaving no place to sit. There are no dressers and no drawers. There is no toilet paper holder, no paper towels, no tissues. Unless you close the lid of the toilet you have no place for your toiletry bag. This kitchen table squeaks. The alarm clock and the bathroom scale were a nice touch but did not work. We were asked to take out the garbage but only 1 garbage bag was provided. As you walk in, the unit smells musty. The unit is so moist that cotton laundry takes 3 days to dry. We were given 2 large and fluffy bath towels for 5 days which should have been ample. But they never dried completely because it was so humid, and after each shower we were trying to dry off with a partially wet towel. Three sides of the bed are against a wall. The second person in bed had to climb over the first. In our view, there were more negatives than positives, leaving us disappointed.

Cute little apartment in the heart of Madrid

OVERALL - The apartment was in a great location with a few good restaurants right outside the door. Atocha, a major train station, is a few blocks away and there are plenty of attractions within a 15-minute walk or transit trip. The kitchen was modest and usable. The unit could use a little TLC and was a little tighter than we assumed from the pictures. PROS - The location was superb. The apartment has just enough space and amenities to be what we needed. Having a washing machine was awesome. The water got hot very quickly (and a bit too quickly). CONS - The hot water got EXTREMELY hot--be careful. The bed was hard in our opinion. In sum, we appreciated the apartment and would recommend.
