Enjoy the view from the Spiaggia lungomare dei mille, the southernmost point on the tip of the boot. On the rock face of Monte Calvario lies the mysterious and fascinating ghost town of Pentedattilo, which was abandoned after the catastrophic earthquake of 1783. The small town can only be reached on foot. Parts of the town have been partially restored. A night-time visit is only possible in August, when the town's paths are illuminated. Pentedattilo also hosts a film festival for international short films every year between August and September. Don't forget the mountain village, Bova, which is located at an altitude of 820 meters and offers an incomparable 360-degree view of the mountainous national park and across the Strait of Messina to Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea. The Castle of Sant'Aniceto, which dates back to the Byzantine period, is located in an isolated position and is undoubtedly also worth a visit.
